Maybe this is a spoiler, or maybe I'm late to the party. But I just stumbled across a cool piece of fanart, based on an official toy, which made me more hyped for the movie than anything else I've seen.
I didn't write any of that. And just like that, I have all of the hype.
All of it. You can't have any hype because I'm using it all.

Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Chinese movie logo with most of the mane six as pirates... Fluttershy is completely absent for some reason. Also, they had to shrink Twilight to fit her in the picture, because her hat is just that big.
I didn't write any of that.I remember a fanfic taking place entirely through letters between the characters about what became of everyone years and years after the show. Pinkie became a sky pirate. This is giving me flashbacks of that.

That's been a joke in the fandom for a while now XD
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Correction time. As I suspected, Skywalker Sound is NOT actually working on the film as the company and the people associated with them have been removed from the movie's IM Db page. Instead, that job goes to Sharpe Sound Studios, a local operation in Vancouver, with the supervising sound editors being Kelly Cole and Bill Mellow. Since Bill retweeted this Jayson Thiessen post on his Twitter account, I think it is safe to say it is now accurate.
One thing I do hope is true is that the celebrities apparently recorded their dialogue at Studiopolis. Yes, THAT Studiopolis!
Going back to Michel Gagné, I read on the film's Wikipedia page that he was first offered the effects animator job via an e-mail from Jayson Thiessen. Since this was a personal request and not from some studio representative, I wondered if Jayson had worked with Michel before. As it turns out, he did.

I have like 7 nieces. If I want to go see MLP movie without being judged I'll take one or more of them along.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! There is one more name from the music department I feel needs mentioning: Joseph Magee, the music producer (Daniel Ingram is the score producer) and supervising music mixer. This guy had a TON of movie credits including Fantasia 2000, The Muppet Movie, High Fidelity, and the two Pitch Perfect movies. He worked closely with Daniel based on these tweets.
MLP Movie received a PG rating from the MPAA.
Rest assured. This is not your mommy's widdle kiddie show anymore.
Yes, it is. PG used to actually mean something but today it just stands for "Practically G". If your movie contains anything other than colorful sprites blissfully singing about how happy they are for two consecutive hours, you're getting a PG rating. Frozen, Finding Dory, and Moana are all recent examples of PG films.
Today, what most people think of as a kid-friendly film is typically PG. It's PG-13 that means shit's about to get real.
So no, MLP the Movie is probably going to be as kid-friendly as the show typically is in its adventure two-parters. As it should be, because My Little Pony's first priority should always be the little girls it was made for.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I wonder if that means they are gonna retire the G rating then?
It is already practically retired; only kids' indie movies probably use it.
I bet the real reason most kids' movies are rated PG today is because studios want to see more money from demographics that believe that a G rating attached to a movie implies that that movie is too tame for them. So they either just appeal to the MPAA to get a PG (which I imagine most studios do nowadays) or they add just enough of an edge (content wise) to warrant it.

"You can run, but you can't hide from the Buzzinator!"That's probable. There's a stigma attached to the G-rating. People expect G-rated films to not just be kid-friendly but kid-exclusive. To the popular mindspace, a film rated G is mindless sounds and colors intended to appease toddlers, bearing nothing of substance for the parents in the audience.
Insert obligatory joke about the first Equestria Girls here, I suppose, but even that had more effort put into it than the Hypothetical G-Rated Film people imagine.

Rainbow Dash: The Weather!
Applejack: The Banquet!
Rarity: The Style!
Fluttershy: The Music!
It freezes awkwardly at the end there.
Derpy! I was worried they would forget about her for a while!
I suspect there's a thing that happens in the last second or two that they didn't want to awkwardly segue into right before the cut. Presumably it's related to the ominous shadow that seems to appear behind Twilight.
My guess: either it's the Storm King's airship arriving over Canterlot or Twilight's about to be hit by that giant cake from the trailer.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.It's Pinkie's party cannon. I can tell.
Giant cake, then.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.TBH, I'm not impressed by what I have seen in the trailers so far. The Pirate Unicorn is a cool villain but does not compare to other MLP villains like Discord. I don't feel like she can carry a whole movie (but of course, it depends on the writing. This show has surprised me before.)
One thing I would like is if, by the end, she is not redeemed by The Power of Friendship (yes I know that's basically what the show is about, but it's not always realistic, plus it just gets old. Some people really are bad because they want to be.)
So far as I understand, she's not the villain. She's the Darth Vader to the Storm King's Emperor.
I think they're just focusing the advertising on her because a) she's an awesome new pony who's awesome and b) not wanting to give away all the details of the plot in the trailer. So to represent the villains, they just threw up a handful of scenes of Tempest kicking ass and called it good.
To that end, I think she's got a pretty good chance of being redeemed by the end, because she's in a perfect position to undergo a Heel–Face Turn and pitch in against her boss. Which would be another reason to focus advertising on her if, ultimately, she's supposed to be the villain you like versus him being the one you want to see taken down.
That's just speculation, though.

Recording of part of a movie song from SDCC. Not the greatest quality, but you can clearly hear the song.
