If I ever get back into Necrons, my plan is to try a marble or porcelain paint scheme.
I've wanted to do an army (possible Slaanesh) with a marble effect base for a long time now but my skill is nowhere near good enough to get the look right.
I finally finished painting my Kharn the Betrayer. It only took me several months to actually sit down and paint him in two nights .note Now I just need to finish his base.

You can also see my Sableclaw conversion in the background of the shots as well

Khârn looks cool. I especially like the colour of Gorechild. As for Sableclaw, it looks cool but the spoiler is a little
Thanks. It's Balthasar Gold for the brass and highlighted with Sycorax Bronze, P3 Pig Iron for the silver, and Umbral Umber for the wrappings, all washed with Agrax Earthshade. The inner part on the axe-head is Warplock Bronze (no wash).
And yeeeaah, the spoiler on Sableclaw is huge. But I've explained it in the Dark Angels group I posted it in:
- I put Sableclaw in a group with other Land Speeders, and even with all the stuff add-ons and how much bigger it is, once they're all painted up black, it'd still blend in too easily. So I added something much higher than the others.
It's basically the vehicle version of the banners Azrael, Ezekiel, Asmodai and Belial have. To make it easier at a glance to be like "oh, there he is"
That and putting a banner on the model would have looked even more ridiculous than the spoiler does

I don't know. The original Land Speeder model looked good with a banner◊.
On the other hand if you had the money you could have converted a Vengeance or a Javelin into Sableclaw. Alternatively you could have found one of the 2nd Edition models◊ on e-bay to convert.
I didn't have any banners shaped that way when I converted it, all of the ones I had were the big backpack ones, which look terrible on a Land Speeder. I now have a second Ravenwing banner, but I'm not sure about putting that onto Sableclaw.
As to the Javelin: I chose the Storm because of the crew bay made it easy for me to make a cupola for Sammael to stand in. The Javelin, while have a cool look, doesn't have that. Also, that 2nd edition model is beautiful
Awesome Khârn!
... And that's called jazz!Nice work on Kharn.
Thanks everyone! Hopefully I can keep up that quality (or lack thereof) with the rest of my Khornates. Up next:
8-man squad of Chainaxe Berzerkers. Then.... Idk what. I have Raptors that need to be finished (my friend started painting them up Word Bearers, so I can easily fix that with Evil Sunz Scarlet and Balthasar Gold+Agrax Earthshade), as well as primed Warp Talons, Hellbrute, Chosen, Cultists, Chaos Marines, Chaos Spawn....
Something a bit different here are a couple of models I painted years apart that hopefully will give an example of how my painting has improved over my time in the hobby.
As the new Codex: Adeptus Mechanicus goes on pre-order tomorrow I thought I would post this Tech-Priest Dominus I painted a while ago.
Really nice work...I like the wintry base too, it makes for an interesting contrast.
Thanks. He is one of my better models.
Due to the release of 8th Edition I have decided to give the paint scheme of some of my old models a bit of a refresh starting with my Necron Immortals as I will be using them in an event at Warhammer World next month. I think the new scheme, while mostly the same, looks much better.
I agree, the green makes it pop a lot more.
Thanks. It is only a little thing but it works well.
Well, I hope my senpais don't mind me posting my first minis... I only have the starter set paints for now and had lots of trouble with the smaller brush I bought, but for now, here they are. Gonna buy more stuff to paint the eyes properly and make the highlights in the future, but yeah. >_<
... And that's called jazz! For a first try those are great, definitely better than my first few models (I will have to see if I can find some of them and post them).
Yeah, I agree. Definitely much better than my first models.
Yep, those are better than my first ones. Nice work!
A swordsman of Solland I painted a while ago to practice white and light yellow. Although this model turned out relatively well I haven't had much luck repeating the success yet.
The hat looks like Averland Sunset with a Biel-Tan Green wash.
It's actually Flash Git Yellow with a wash of Nuln Oil. The green tinge is because I had been painting Orks beforehand and I may not have cleaned my brush too well
Thanks. I do have something of a soft spot for the old Persian style Chaos Dwarfs personally.
Talking of painting models that have been gathering dust, I am currently painting a Necron Night Scythe that I have had since 6th Edition for Heat 1 of the Grand Tournament in October. It has been a while since I last painted my Necrons and I had forgotten how much of a pain the colour scheme I came up for them is, especially on vehicles.
