Finished the Culexus. I probably should've hit the suit with some Nuln Oil to darken up the highlighting, but overall I think it turned out pretty good.
A bit torn on what to do next, but I think I'm gonna go ahead and knock out the Command Barge and the Overlord.
Very nice I love the metal on the base and the shading.
Thanks. The metal on the base took forever to shade...I must've used at least four layers of Agrax Earthshade and a coupla layers of 50/50 Agrax Earthshade/Nuln Oil to get it to something that reasonably matched GW's display model.
It was definitely worth it.
I recently painted an assassin myself: The classic Imperial Assassin
I did originally get one of these models when it was still on regular sale but then cut it up for conversions with the intention of getting another one. The model was then discontinued before I could get another one however so I was very happy to see the model as part of the "Made to Order" series.
Good job...he kinda looks like Snake-Eyes.
Thanks. I think the model is from the 80s originally so there could have been some inspiration from Snake-Eyes in his design.
...except for that oversized left hand which makes him look like Snake-eye.
I've finished the Overlord for my Command Barge, but I'm gonna hold off on pictures until I get the Barge finished. Trying something different...instead of brush-painting the edge highlighting, which is a complete PITA , I'm drybrushing all the edges with Niblet Green, filling in the black areas to get rid of the excess green, then glazing the entire kit and kaboodle with Waywatcher Green to brighten up the Niblet Green and give the black a bit of that green tint that GW's Necron kits have from the Caliban Green base color.
Sounds good.
I recently finished painting Inquisitor Greyfax. I am very happy about how she turned out, although I do think the cowling on her condemnor bolter is a little bright.
Nice work, indeed. I don't think the gun is too bright, it seems to be about the same as the gold trim on her armor.
Thanks.
So I'm not sure how well you can see them, but had my first outing with my Pre-Heresy Thousand Sons tonight in Kill Team.
I lost because that Necron walker is impossible to kill. No, literally. Nothing that could be fielded in Kill Team could kill it, aside from another vehicle. Everyone there, including the guy who fielded it, agreed that it's kiiiiiiiind of busted for Kill Team. Despite falling under the armor cutoff (no higher than 33), it had a bonus effect that bumped it over that.
That sucks. Going up against an opponent you literally can't win against is never fun unless you make it fun. Looks like a solid paint job on your models.
I'm just about done with my Command Barge...not really happy with how it's turned out, but it'll be sufficient for the tabletop until I get another one painted.
Those Thousand Sons are nice. The bases look quite cool, how did you do them?
Edit: Whoops, the bases were what you asked about
They're supposed to be marble. So, it's Plasticardnote cut to size, glued onto the bases, then formed more with an Xacto Knife. I then primed blacknote . Everything here is P3, as its all I have presently. The process went like this:
- Thalmar Black to cut down on the gloss and make a surface for the other paints.
- Then I used sea sponges to apply-
- 50/50 mixture of Menoth White + Cryx Bane Highlight as the base
- Cryx Bane Highlight as color 1
- Menoth White as color 2
- I then used a feather to paint on Thalmar Black "veins" onto the marble.

I meant how did you do the model's bases.
Finally got the Command Barge finished...nothing I'd display but acceptable for the tabletop. The Overlord turned out pretty good, but I really should've paid more attention to the mold lines before priming him.
Looks very good. I would probably have painted the cape the same colour as the Barge but otherwise very nice
I have trouble with mold lines as sometimes I don't notice them at all until after I have painted the model.
Thanks. I picked up several of Citadel's metallics to play around with on the Overlord.
The lighting isn't great in my painting area and I've got a bad tendency to miss mold lines during assembly then catch them after some paint is on the model.
Finished the Deceiver. I was afraid that the silver mix I used on the streamer would be too bright but it turned out to be a pretty good contrast.
Probably gonna work on the Legion next.
Ooohh. Very Nice The gold and silver give him the look of a Greco/Roman god. Brilliant.
Recently I have been painting some Deathwing Knights for my Guardians of the Covenant army and here is one of them. I think he turned out relatively well although I am not too happy with the quality of the white areas (I can't seem to do white very well)

Yeah, I wanted to go for something a bit different and decided on a lighter armour with a darker skintone and I do feel that it came out better than I thought it would.
