So is this show as fantastically mediocre and up its own ass as everything else Max Landis ever created?

Watch it for yourself, it's only eight episodes. It's obviously pretty meta just from the trailers. You probably already know if that's something you'd enjoy or not, but it's got surprising heart coming from someone with Landis's internet presence.

I've noticed an acceleration of strangeness in my life. Must be because season 2 started a few days ago. :p

Hey, I've been wondering about something and I want to put it to the community:

What trope is Wendimoor?

With the information provided so far, Wendimoor is very likely to be the imagined world of a young child, literally brought into being somehow. The fact that scissors were a murder weapon, presumably used to kill the childs father, translates into scissors being used as weapons in the logic of the world of Wendimoor, as well as Amanda's hallucinations being real and tangible there to other characters than herself.

So, Wendimoor is a Mental World, is it? Or is there a better trope to describe it that I haven't been able to find yet?

Until otherwise established it's an Alternate Universe.

[up][up] Yes, it's (intentionally) unclear at this point. It seems incredibly likely that it's a world created by a child's imagination... so likely that I doubt that's the case. It could be like Justice League episode "Legends" where the alternate universe "bled" into our in the form of comic books because the writer of said books had an innate psychic link to that universe.

Ken's new thing makes me think of the time Ronald Reagan said, "The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help."

Really sad this is cancelled. That said, this is definitely a series that cannot run indefinitely; when multiple characters have the superpower of "things just work out for them" then it's damn difficult to keep drama going.

They do an admirable job of it, really, but it's something I don't see as sustainable. So I'm happy it finished before its inevitable fall-apart.

... that said, haven't finished watching season 2. Got my entire household into it and I'm rewatching S1 with them and damn it's so much better the second time through. Particularly... pretty much every scene with Gordon, knowing that he knows less than anyone else somehow is really entertaining.

Megabump. There's a Change.org petition to get the show back. It's got a fair amount of support, including, allegedly, much of the cast.
