Hello everyone!
Hey, does anyone want their ocs to have a past with mine? I'm just curious.
Good to be backMost of the characters here seem to be at least partially human so Eiko would've wanted nothing to do with most of them in her past. At most she might know the people in Onimori after she started living there with her master.
I could certainly imagine that she would occasionaly stop by the cemetary and say hello to Kokatoru if nothing else, heh.
Oh hey Moon!
Fancy meeting you here
off the shitsErmahgerd D!Thread.
All are significantly abnormal in a normal world... All are significantly normal in an abnormal world. So, can you give us any more info about the world or is that mostly our responsibility?
Good to be back@FullMoon: I count
4 Yōkai:
- Kusumo (Kodama)
- Toko (Oni)
- Eiko (Bakeneko)
PapyrusKokatoru (Gashadokuro)
3 Hanyō:
- Minamoto Risuka (Kitsune)
- Roju (Oni)
- Ryōma Nodoka (Wani)
3 Humans:
- "Joe"
- Onryo
- Heide
So 6 out of 10 have human heritage. And 1 of them hasn't even been finished yet. It's a majority, but not by much.
Those who have no right to wish are quick to cause destruction.Onimori, Where Humans and Youkai Meet
Hundreds of years ago, Shuzo Morinaka's ancestor had a chance encounter with the kami Tsukiyomi. He was inspired to build a home where all humans and youkai were welcome and shared the common goal of preserving a peaceful life.
As far as we know, Onimori is the only place in Wa where it is public knowledge (at least among the villagers themselves) that humans and youkai are living together in one place. To the outside world beyond the forest, the truth about Onimori is a well-kept secret that the Morinaka family have worked tirelessly to protect.
Onimori is flanked on either side by the ranges of the Moriyo valley. Heading north takes you out of the valley to Teruma Town, deep in the Tenjou clan's domain. Further north than that leads to Tenjou Castle, though few ever reach that far.
Onimori is cleaved in two by Tsukigawa River, which connects to the southern sea and Murakumo Town, a bustling port town and domain of the Okasaki clan.
Places in Onimori include:
- Morinaka Household: One of the bigger traditional manors in Onimori, belonging to the village's de facto leaders, Shuzo and Yuina Morinaka. Heading just out of the front door leads you straight to Toboshi Bridge.
- Market Square: The east half of town, slightly elevated over the Tsukigawa river, where the villagers set up shop during the day. Festivals are also held here, including the Hyakki Yagyou.
- Tsukigawa River: The river that runs through the middle of Onimori, so named for its beauty in reflecting the moon off its surface.
- Toboshi Bridge: Onimori's main bridge connecting across the Tsukigawa river. Lit by paper lanterns at night, so it tends to be the brightest object in the village.
- Onimori Inari Shrine: A shrine dedicated to Inari, the deity of foxes and general prosperity. Located at the foot of the eastern mountain, overlooking the village.
- Public Bathhouse: Serves all customers. A hidden back room is used to serve youkai customers with special needs.
- Farm Fields: Heading south out of the village leads to a clearing where the sun has good reach over the paddy fields and farm plots.
- Cemetery: In the northwest part of town. Home to many spirits, who are generally left alone. Also the home of the Morinaka Family Crypt.
Any other locations needed?

1. Is Deceptively Honest our co-gm?
2. Which one is sort of the...bad part out town? The kind full of whores and bars.
Good to be backNo. I'm just a fellow RPer. I wouldn't mind keeping it alive, though. By the way, it's spelled "Tsukuyomi."
Those who have no right to wish are quick to cause destruction. No offense man, but can you stop correcting everyone?
Good to be backReally? I always thought it was spelled Tsuikeyomi.
-dramatic music ensues-@Deceptively Honest: Both Tsukuyomi and Tsukiyomi are valid. In this case I've chosen Tsukiyomi to differentiate from the mainstream interpretation.

@opnerf: Ah. Neat.
@TroyandHawk (and everyone else): Apologies.
Those who have no right to wish are quick to cause destruction. So I take it this is going to mostly be a sand box rp?
Good to be backWhile I wouldn't mind nerf dropping a horde of Onis on us or sending some Bakus to fuck with our heads, I'm under the impression and would kinda prefer that we're gonna mostly be sandboxing, right.
No, not totally a sandbox. Like it says in the signup, there'll be problems that are hard to ignore.

But aside from, y'know, imminent invasion, and the empire collapsing, basically sandbox?
Also, any idea when the RP!Thread will be posted?

All are significantly abnormal in a normal world... All are significantly normal in an abnormal world. Are we allowed to describe our characters' abilities and appearance in their alternate forms?

Those who have no right to wish are quick to cause destruction.@opnerf: There's also the cemetery where Kokaturo lives.
Incidentally I imagine that when he has to hide for the masquerade, he just pretends to be a statue. A very creepy statue.
What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?Heya Daydre!
Eiko's appearance in her human form is going to change a lot since she just changes to whatever style she feels like using at the time, there's probably going to be a few constant things at least heh.
Heads up in case: I realized that I hadn't filled in my appearance or equipment. Now I have.
Trump delenda estRandom stuff about the Minamoto family, Sanetomo, etc. that I came up with because I was bored (mostly while waiting for the bus). Anything that doesn’t jibe I can change.
- Sanetomo’s favored weapon is a tetsubō.
- Sanetomo is a man of principles, and he does not bend those principles, no matter how convenient it might be. He used to be a fanatical supporter of the Imperial throne, but became disillusioned with how little power the Emperor actually has. He would still like to see the Emperor restored to his rightful influence, but is enough of a realist to see how unlikely that is to happen.
- Sanetomo is rather aggressive in personal combat, something which has almost gotten him killed multiple times, but prefers conservative strategic and tactical maneuvers, often to a fault. He cares greatly for the soldiers under his command, and refuses to promote on political pull instead of merit. This annoys… quite a number of important personages around him.
- Minamoto territory is mostly mountainous, though it does have some very fertile farmland in the east. Their primary export is iron, steel, and steel tools and weapons. Their primary import is food. Minamoto units, especially ashigaru, make extensive use of tanegashima, and rather effectively. They also make use of onmyōji in a combat role, which can be devastating. The seat of power is in a small valley in the mountains, which is… farmable, though not exactly the most fertile soil, and only easily accessible through a pair of mountain passes, especially in the winter. Other major trade goods are silk and timber. Minamoto gunsmiths tend to be renowned for their quality.
- The Kusanagi family are vassals of the Minamoto. One of Risuka’s ancestors elevated Kusanagi to samurai after faithful service as an ashigaru, and the Kusanagi family has remained loyal ever since. The current head of the family is Yoshikazu, (Suzuki’s uncle, for reference) who functions as Sanetomo’s political and politicking adviser. Sanetomo has a tendency to listen to his advice around... half the time. This makes Yoshikazu’s other job, making sure Sanetomo isn’t assassinated or the subject of a successful smear campaign, all that much harder. He is also, if some rumors are to be believed, some sort of spymaster for Sanetomo.
- The Minamoto family used to be famous for producing onmyōji who went to go work at the Imperial court. This was their source of political power, as opposed to their military strength and relative abundance of iron now. A few generations ago, that started to shift. The teachings moved from focusing on astrology and the zodiac to the military applications of onmyōdō. Sanetomo is simply the culmination of this trend: Disregarding the onmyōdō traditions in favor of focusing on military training.

All are significantly abnormal in a normal world... All are significantly normal in an abnormal world. Thanks (again). I just added Nodoka's alternate form. I thought about making it an Orochi, but that really wouldn't have made as much sense; maybe he can gain that as another form later (as some kind of curse or an unleashed innate liability). I also plan on splitting his Skills and Equipment section into 2 Skills sections (one for each form) and a separate Equipment section.
