Tranq, you might have a hard time getting to the sergeant, because from what I understand there's combat, a trash bag wall, and like 100 feet of distance between the two of you :P

I need to update these things more often

Entry 16

Floor B1, Corridor & Antechamber

@ZeroL: There does not seem to be any need to go over and attack the Rat behind Random, as Random already takes care of said rat.

Rat-Man 4 lunges its spear-knife at you. You manage to parry the attack and then thrust your blade into said Rat-Man. Your attack deals 8 damage to it.

Large Rat 11 attacks you from behind! Its attack hits, dealing 4 damage to you!

During this skirmish, you notice that the middle of the trash barricade has been set on fire, and there now appears to be a rat burning on it. You also see Rat Flinger 1 lying back with a bullet through its head.

Random and Anolis also seem to have leaped over the barricade, and a few of the rat enemies seem to be looking in their direction. Past them, you see an injured rat standing some distance behind an injured Cabe, who runs towards the right stairs in the antechamber. You also see a rat hiding in one of the tunnels on the right side of the room on the south wall.

Cyber also seems to have moved towards your position, taking Random’s previous spot.

The ground suddenly begins to shake.

You are now Level 2! Your class has also been modified to Tech-Knight Duelist.

  • Max HP: 44 -> 50
  • Strength: 13 -> 16
  • Accuracy: 95 -> 96
  • Defense: 7 -> 9
  • Magic Resistance: 3 -> 5
  • Mobility: 5 -> 8
  • Luck: 11 -> 12

You have acquired the feat Counter-Attack 1. You can now parry/counter-attack two enemies per round, or you can attack one enemy and counter the same/a different enemy within the same round, though you may receive less exp than if you make two separate attacks.

@CyberController: The Rat enemies are nowhere near close to being finished off. Either way you attack the rat directly in front of you.

You manage to hit Large Rat 16, dealing 13 damage to it and slaying it!

You then proceed up to the front where Zero and Revaryk are gathered. You also see as Random and Anolis leap over the trash barrier towards the right end. You then run up to the space previously occupied by Random and Anolis.

From here, you can see the rest of the antechamber. The room itself is fairly large, roughly sixty feet wide and fifty or so feet long. Small, rat-sized tunnels line the sides of the room, with small, dried-up canal-like channels connecting them to a common hub in the middle. Two large sets of stairs, roughly ten feet away from the left and right walls, lead up to a second, rail-guarded, “balcony-like” level, which goes out roughly halfway into the room. There is also a large archway, perhaps 20-30 feet tall, opening up into the next room, though you can’t see much from your current angle. Numerous torches also line the edges of the room, with two particularly large ones bordering the exit archway. There also seem to be numerous trash bags and trash piles littered about, along with various human skeletons and occasional scraps.

The trash bags have also been slit open, forming makeshift ramps and allowing the Flingers to scoop into them. Currently, however, the middle bags seem to be erupting in flame due to Starb’s arrow. You also see a rat chase after Cabe and then slice into him as he runs towards the right stairs ahead.

@Revaryk: You ready your guard, waiting for the rats and Rat-Men to attack you. You see Rat-Man Flinger 1 drop dead after being hit by Armored’s bullet. One of Starb’s arrows whizzes by you and lights the trash pile on fire. Random and Anolis attempt to jump over the side of the barricade, but are attacked by a number of rats. Some of them hit, but one of the rats accidentally leaps by and lands on the fire in front of you.

Some of the Rat-enemies to your left attack Zero, and Zero manages to intercept one of their attacks, but despite this, none of the other Rats seem to attack you, probably because they were busy attacking Random and Anolis.

As you are fighting, you see Cyber walk up nearby, close to where Random was previously standing.

You feel the ground begin to shake.

@Cabe_Bedlam: Neither rat lies directly in your path towards the east-side stairs, but Large Rat 1 is the one closest to you.

As Large Rat 1 attempts to attack you, you take a step back and slice into it, dealing 9 damage to it.

You then make a run towards your destination. You see Large Rat 1 crawl over to one of the tunnels near the front side of the hall. Additionally, Random and Anolis jump over the trash barrier, being attacked by the other rats as they do so. You also notice that the midsection of the trash barricade appears to be on fire, and one of the Large Rats jumps into it while attacking Random.

On your way, Large Rat 11 leaps toward you and attacks. Although you attempt to dodge it, the rat’s attack hits, dealing 11 damage to you.

Despite your injuries, you continue on forward.

Once you get to the base of the stairs, you see the Sergeant come around the corner.

He takes aim at you and fires. His shot misses!

After making his shot, the Sergeant seems to stand still, watching your movements. He begins to descend, lowering his arms to his hips where the two needles are strapped to his side.

As you begin to ascend the stairs, you think you see Anolis’s ball within the alcove right next to you, though it’s quite some distance away.

All of a sudden, you feel the ground begin to shake.

The Sergeant stops and then says, “Oh, here he comes!”

You are now Level 2!

  • Max HP: 36 -> 42
  • Strength: 12 -> 14
  • Magic: 8 -> 9
  • Accuracy: 101 -> 102
  • Defense: 3 -> 4
  • Magic Resistance: 3 -> 4
  • Mobility: 13 -> 16
  • Luck: 13 -> 16

You have also gained the Special Attack: Twin Strike. Whenever you choose to make a melee attack against a target, you can choose to make two attacks against that target, one with each weapon in hand (assuming you have at least two one-handed melee weapons available). You can also choose to throw two melee weapons in hand at a single target within reasonable range, assuming you have two one-handed melee weapons available.

@Whizzerd: You cast a healing spell on Anolis, healing them for 19 HP and restoring them to full health. Four MP has been expended.

Armored seems to take your suggestion, as he takes aim and blasts Rat-Flinger 1 in the head, causing it to collapse over.

You also see Cyber defeat the rat in front of him and then proceed towards the barricade alongside the others.

You still cannot see much from where you are standing, though it appears the trash barricade is now on fire. Random and Anolis also manage to leap over the barricade on its right side, but are attacked by multiple rats.

As the battle wages, you feel the hall start to shake.

You are now Level 2!

  • Max HP: 36 -> 38
  • Max MP: 20 -> 30
  • MP Regen: 1 -> 2
  • Magic: 17 -> 19
  • Accuracy: 93 -> 94
  • Defense: 2 -> 3
  • Magic Resistance: 3 -> 4
  • Mobility: 8 -> 9
  • Luck: 12 -> 13

You have also gained the feat Multicasting 1. You can now cast two spells per round.

@RandomWriter413: You strike your axe into Large Rat 12, dealing 18 damage to it and killing it instantly.

Hearing Anolis’s suggestion, you begin to head towards the right end of the barricade, noticing the middle part of it has caught on fire.

As you approach, Rat-Man 6 and Large Rat 17 attack you. Rat-Man 6’s spear-knife hits, dealing 3 damage to you. Large Rat 17 misses and accidentally jumps onto the burning trash bags, which damages it for 4 fire damage.

Once over the barrier, you see Cabe run towards the right stairway in the antechamber after having sliced into one of the rats. Said rat crawls into a tunnel on the south side of the room nearby.

Another rat runs up to Cabe and slices into him. Shortly after that, Cabe proceeds past the high wall on which the balcony is supported and proceeds up the stairs. You also see one of the Rat Sergeant’s shots fly past him.

You also feel the ground begin to shake.

@BlackMageAnolis: After Random finishes off the Rat right next to him, the two of you then attempt to leap over the right side of the barricade and proceed towards the stairs where you think your ball may have landed.

As you do so, you are attacked by Rat-Man 5 and Rat Flinger 2. Rat Flinger 2 misses, but Rat-Man 5’s spear knife hits, dealing 11 damage to you.

You also see one of the rats attacking Random leap into the fire that is now consuming the trash barricade, thanks to Starb’s arrow. It shrieks as it begins to burn.

You look around for your ball, though you don’t see it from where you are standing. You do however see Cabe run towards the right stairway in the antechamber after having sliced into one of the rats.

@ArmoredFury: You take aim at Rat-Man Flinger 1’s head and fire away.

Your shot hits, dealing 15 damage and killing it!

The flinger falls back beyond your sight. You see one of Starb’s arrows light the middle part of the trash barricade on fire, though none of the rats seem to react to it at first.

You also see Anolis and Random jump across the right side of the barricade, only to be attacked by multiple rat enemies. One of the rats accidentally misses Random and leaps right into the burning flame in the middle.

Cyber also proceeds to the front with the others after having slain the rat in front of him.

You then feel the ground begin to shake.

@Starbee: I just noticed your character had somewhat higher starting points than some of the others, so the amount of points you receive upon level up might be a bit less than the others.

You take aim at the trash bags and fire at them, after enchanting your arrow with fire magic. Your arrow hits, setting the middle part of the barricade on fire! Two MP have also been consumed.

You watch as the barricade begins to light on fire, though none of the rat’s initially react to it. You also see Rat Flinger 1 go down after being shot by Armored. Cyber also runs up after slaying the rat in front of him.

Anolis and Random jump across the right side of the barricade, only to be attacked by multiple rat enemies. One of the rats accidentally misses Random and leaps right into the newly created flaming hazard.

The fire deals 4 fire damage to Large Rat 17.

The ground suddenly begins to shake.

You are now Level 2!

  • Max HP: 36 -> 38
  • Max MP: 16 -> 20
  • Strength: 13 -> 15
  • Magic: 11 -> 13
  • Accuracy: 99 -> 100
  • Defense: 4 -> 5
  • Magic Resistance: 3 -> 4
  • Mobility: 11 -> 12

You have gained the feat Spell Infusion-A. Whenever you enchant you or your allies’ attacks with magic, said attacks deal additional magic damage as if they were regular spell attacks as opposed to being a minor bonus (They now deal regular magic damage as opposed to 1/5 magic damage). They now consume slightly more MP, however. You also gain bonus exp from attacks of this sort, although this bonus is less than that earned from normal attacks.

@Tranquilis: You attempt to smudge some of the crap off your face. Due to your hard armor, it’s a bit tough to wipe the stuff off without accidentally scratching your vision. You can barely make out bits of the fight up ahead, though you do see flames past the people in front of you.

You attempt to charge over the stairs. You trip forward, but you now seem to have reached the top, and some of the gunk seems to have fallen off when you hit the ground again.

As you push yourself back up, you can now see things a lot more clearly. Revaryk, Zero, and Cyber seem to be engaged with several rat enemies. A rat seems to be jumping atop a fire in the middle of the barricade. You also see what appear to be ramps past the trash bags, and a few of the Rat-Men seem to be lying dead.

You can now see the rest of the antechamber from here.

Past the right barricade into the room, you also see Random and Anolis running into the room, though Cabe is nowhere in sight. Neither is the Sergeant for that matter, though you do see another rat some distance away from Random and Anolis.

Just after you finish standing back up, the room begins to shake.

> Leap towards the sergeant in his moment of ... panic? Whatever is coming, I'm not letting him give it any support. Leap upwards towards him, stabbing once with each dagger, attempting to sink one into his neck and the other into his chest, then tearing away the blades. One on one combat is what I live for, and right now I'm remembering my favorite tactics. Why strike once when you can hit them twice before they can respond? If I can bring him down before he gets a strike in, all the better.

@ZeroL: Are you trying to target Large Rat 1, or a different enemy?

@Revaryk: Just for clarification, where are you trying to run to? Do you want to take any other action for this round or no?

>Stand tall, and charge the trash bag barricade to knock it down.

I know I haven't defined any magic I can use, and I'm not a magic using class, but would it be appropriate if I could use some MP to self-heal, as some kind of knightly second-wind?

Dead for the foreseeable future. Towergirls will return when I do.

@Tranquilis: Yes, you can do that. Most players may or may not be capable of performing low level magic, assuming they learned it from somewhere and it isn't inherently broken.

@CyberController: There is currently no rat on Cabe or latched onto Cabe. Which enemy specifically would you like to attack, assuming you are able to reach said enemy?

@Revaryk: You didn't quite answer my question properly. I asked for a location you were headed to. I do not want a vague answer such as "to my allies." Which allies are you trying to approach? The other players are scattered throughout various positions within the area, so I cannot tell for sure where you are trying to go. I want a concrete answer, especially since which direction you try to move towards may affect how enemies react.

I'd also recommend creating another post whenever you try to modify your previous actions, especially since I might not always check to see if your posts are edited.

Be sure to read the section titled “Everyone.” Also, I’m not sure how much time I’ll be able to work on this tomorrow, so the next entry might not come until Sunday or so.

Entry 17

Floor B1, Corridor & Antechamber

@Cabe_Bedlam: You proceed up the stairs towards the Sergeant, ready to leap up at him so you can execute your Twin Strike. As you get close, the Sergeant slows his descent, and then drops his slingshot.

A toothy grin manifests on his face.

You leap at the Sergeant and begin the first of your Twin Strikes…

Rat-Man Sergeant counter-parries your attack!

The Sergeant suddenly whips out the giant needle strapped to his right side and strikes the dagger out of your hand.

“Aha!”

In one swift motion, he spins the needle in his hand and then plunges its tip straight into your chest, dealing 13 damage! In the same motion, before you can swipe in with your other dagger, he whips out the other needle, pulls it back and then strikes it through your neck, dealing 14 damage!

As you feel yourself struggling for your last breath, The Sergeant removes the over-sized needles from you and then kicks you over the side of the stairs.

This wasn’t your lucky day.

   You died. Respawn?

@ZeroL: You begin to step away from Rat-Man 4 and head towards the right or east side of the barricade.

Large Rat 11 tries to attack you, but as it leaps up, you turn around and gouge it with your sword, dealing 18 damage to it and killing it instantly.

You run past Cyber and Revaryk, who is currently retreating toward Whizzerd for some reason, and then jump over the right side of the barricade. You also pass by Rat-Man 6, who is currently engaged with Anolis.

You then run up to the tunnel where you see Large Rat 1 hiding in, and then attack.

You attempt to strike Large Rat 1 with your sword, but the rat is already too far in for your sword to reach.

@BlackMageAnolis: You pick up a giant butter-knife nearby and swing it at Rat Flinger 2. You hit, dealing 3 damage.

Rat Flinger 2 strikes back at you with its spoon. It hits, dealing 16 damage to you!

You also see Rat-Man 5 circle around from the center of the barricade towards you.

Rat-Man 5 attempts to attack you with its butter-knife-spear, but you lean out of the way just before the attack hits.

You hear a gunshot as Armored’s bullet goes through Rat Flinger 2’s arm, causing it to drop its spoon.

Rat-Man 6 attacks you from behind! It’s attack hits, dealing 14 damage to you!

You feel weak and are in great pain.

You also get the feeling that lobbing the weapon back at one of the Rat-Men isn’t a sound idea right now. You can vaguely see Tranquilis crash through the barrier.

@Revaryk: There doesn’t seem to be any immediate need to run to Whizzerd, as they seem to be approaching your position of their own volition. Tranquilis also passes you by as he charges through the trash barrier, and you also hear Zero zip a few feet behind you beforehand. Armored also steps up near your position and shoots at Rat-Flinger 2.

You do not run into any rat enemies on the way, but unfortunately, your absence near the front lines allows Rat-Man 4 to leap over the barrier and then strike at Cyber. However, one of Starb’s arrows strikes into Large Rat 17, throwing its body into the trash barrier.

@Whizzerd: Rat Flinger 3 seems to be leaning against the wall midway down the corridor. He doesn’t seem to be willing to advance further for now, judging by his reaction to Armored’s request. Aside from the darkness you entered through, there doesn’t seem to be anything else further down.

You then proceed upwards, staying to the side to avoid getting in the way of anyone else.

When you reach the top, you see the melee combatants scattered throughout various positions. The main line, however, isn’t quite into the room yet, as the trash bag line forms a rough arc around the antechamber’s entrance. Either way, you stand some distance behind the main line.

For some reason Revaryk decides to retreat from the trash bag line, wanting to warn you about the “upcoming threat” even though you are already cognizant of it. You then see Tranquilis charge through the barricade’s burning center.

Armored takes aim and shoots Rat-Flinger 2, causing it to drop its spoon.

Rat-Man 4 leaps over the west side of the barrier and then strike at Cyber.

You see a burning arrow soar from behind and strike into Large Rat 17, who get sent flying into the left side of what’s left of the barricade.

More of the room becomes visible from your current position. The room itself is fairly large, roughly sixty feet wide and fifty or so feet long. Small, rat-sized tunnels line the sides of the room, with small, dried-up canal-like channels connecting them to a common hub in the middle.

You see Zero standing by one of these tunnels on the south side of the room.

Anolis appears to be practically surrounded, being assaulted by two Rat-Men and the badly injured Rat Flinger.

Two large sets of stairs, roughly ten feet away from the left and right walls, lead up to a second, rail-guarded, “balcony-like” level, which goes out roughly halfway into the room.

You can see Random standing by the eastern set of stairs.

Neither Cabe nor the Sergeant appear to be anywhere in sight.

Rat-Man 4 then leaps over the west side of the barrier and then strike at Cyber.

One of Starb’s burning arrows soars from behind and strikes into Large Rat 17, who gets sent flying into the left side of what’s left of the barricade.

@RandomWriter413: You follow after Cabe and circle around the corner.

Large Rat 10 attempts to swipe at you as you pass by. Its attack hits, dealing 4 damage to you!

When you turn around the corner, you see Cabe running up the stairs to engage the Rat-Man Sergeant, though you notice an unusual look of confidence on the Sergeant’s face.

You see Cabe attempt to unleash a combo upon the Sergeant, but almost instantly, the Sergeant smacks one of the daggers out of Cabe’s hands by parrying it with one of his needle-rapiers, and then shifts in to gouge Cabe in the chest. Before Cabe can react to this with a second swipe, the Sergeant whips out his other needle and then thrusts it through Cabe’s neck.

You hear Cabe let out a sudden grunt, and then fall limp.

The Sergeant removes his giant needles from Cabe and then tosses Cabe’s body into the alcove nearby, where you also see Anolis’s ball.

“Oh, it’s you again! Do you really think you have the skills to defeat me?”

@Starbee: The battle lines seem to shift as you try to select your target. Zero runs from his post and leaps over the right side of the barricade. The burning rat also leaps down from the barrier and attacks Cyber, after dodging his axe. Whizzerd and Armored move up to the second level to get a better view of the battlefield. You also see Revaryk abandon their position near the barrier for whatever reason, followed by Tranquilis charging through it.

As all this happens, the Rat-Man past the center of the barricade runs around to attack Anolis and get out of the way of Tranquilis’s charge.

One of the Rat-Men also jumps over the barrier and makes a swipe at Cyber.

You pull out another one of your arrows, enchant it with fire magic, and then take aim at one of the rats upstairs.

You take aim at Large Rat 17. Your arrow hits, dealing 11 physical damage and 11 fire damage. Three MP have also been expended.

The rat’s burning corpse is flung straight toward the barrier, whose west side is almost completely in flames.

@Tranquilis: After you see Zero run across the right side of the barricade, you charge forth, your shield up front. Up ahead, Rat-Man 5 runs out of the way, anticipating your charge.

Large Rat 17 is in your way, but it manages to leap back before you collide with it.

You then ram straight into the burning trash bags ahead.

The middle trash bags are knocked aside easily, and part of its burning contents get sent flying forward.

You also hear a loud shriek as one of the rats behind you is sent flying into what’s left of the barricade.

You are now Level 2!

  • Max HP: 48 -> 54
  • Strength: 17 -> 19
  • Magic: 6 -> 7
  • Accuracy: 89 -> 92
  • Defense: 8 -> 10
  • Magic Resistance: 5 -> 7
  • Mobility: 5 -> 7
  • Luck: 12 -> 14

You have gained the special ability Charge-1, which has the following properties:

  • Select an enemy, location, or object that you can reasonably get to as your main target. If there are three or fewer enemies or entities that are in your way to said target, you will attempt to charge/bash through them, dealing roughly a fifth to a quarter of your melee damage if successful.
  • Attacks against these targets are less accurate than normal melee attacks, and are less accurate based on the distance you need to travel to reach each target. You may also accrue some bonus exp based on the number of enemies you hit.
  • Once you charge/bash through all your targets, you can then make a melee attack against your main target, which if successful, will deal 5 additional damage to it.
  • You cannot charge towards a target unless they are a reasonable (10 feet or more) distance away from you.
  • This attack cannot be countered or interrupted unless you are hit by certain magical attacks or if one of the enemies you run into has a higher base strength than you do. If you run into an enemy with a higher base strength than you, they can potentially intercept, counter, and/or interrupt your charge before it completes itself.

@CyberController: You swing at Large Rat 17, but it jumps out of the way literally at the last second.

It then leaps at you and attacks! It hits, dealing 7 damage to you!

After its attack, the rat lands just a few inches beside you, a foot or so away from the trash barricade.

You then see Tranquilis charge through the trash barrier, though Large Rat 17 manages to jump out of the way.

Shortly after Tranquilis’s charge, Rat-Man 4 leaps over the barrier and then runs in for an attack.

Rat-Man 4 hits you for 6 damage.

You also see Large Rat 17 go flying into the west barrier as Starb’s arrow strikes through it, burning it to a crisp.

@ArmoredFury: Flinger 3 shakes his head and stays where he is, “I’m not going in there. That’s the Baron’s footsteps you hear, and I’d rather not have him know I’m still alive, at least not just yet.”

You ascend up the stairway along with Whizzerd. The melee combatants are scattered throughout various positions. The main line, however, isn’t quite into the room yet, as the trash bag line forms a rough arc around the antechamber’s entrance. Either way, you stand some distance behind the main line, where you see Cyber fighting a Large Rat.

By the time you reach the top, you see Revaryk decide to move away from the trash bag line, avoiding Tranquilis as he charges through its center.

You take aim at Rat Flinger 2, who seems to be occupied with Anolis.

Your shot goes right through the Flinger’s arm, dealing 19 damage.

The Flinger stumbles back a bit and drops its spoon, but does not quite appear to be dead yet.

You then see Rat-Man 4 leap over the west side of the barrier and then strike at Cyber.

You see a burning arrow soar from behind and strike into Large Rat 17, who gets sent flying into the left side of what’s left of the barricade.

You also notice Anolis being attacked by Rat Men 5 and 6.

Two large sets of stairs, roughly ten feet away from the left and right walls, lead up to a second, rail-guarded, “balcony-like” level, which goes out roughly halfway into the room.

You can see Random standing by the eastern set of stairs.

Neither Cabe nor the Sergeant appear to be anywhere in sight.

@Everyone: As the battle proceeds, a gargantuan figure, perhaps 11-16 feet in height, emerges from the large exit on the upper level of the antechamber. The enormous Rat-Man carries a giant, circular shield of stone, one-to-two feet thick and almost as large as the Rat-Man himself. In his right hand, he also carries a giant, spear-like fork with serrated prongs and a sharp, arrow-like tip at the bottom. The Rat-Man also seems to be wearing a fur-lined, red cape going just past his shoulders, with a prominent ruby on the cape’s fastener. A small, gem-encrusted crown sits atop his head, seemingly clinging onto it even though the rat’s hairs would not be sufficient to keep it on.

The giant Rat-Man lets out a shrill, mighty, hiss-like roar, before charging towards the end of the balcony.
