IT BEGINS.

Things have gotten tense among the delinquent gangs of Vale.

The Asura, the local equivalent of a peacemaker, is missing. The Phoenix of the South has an almost 0% confidence rating. The Dragon of the East is up to something - at least, more so than usual. Someone attacked the CCT, and now there's just oodles of combat mech scrap going around, to build all sorts of fun machinery out of.

Things have gotten tense among the delinquent gangs of Vale.

Now, the curtain rises on a new chapter.

Beri and KR Vandal Present

With Help from Taco and Ferg

+ VALE BY SUNDOWN - CHAPTER ONE: TENTH AVENUE FREEZE-OUT +

"Some idiot robbed the Black Hands!"

The rumor shot around the entire kingdom over the course of the day. Fingers were pointed. It was a shipment of drugs. No, wait, art. No, no I totally heard from my mate's sister's girlfriend's cousin that it was porn.

By midday, everyone agreed that it was a shipment of weapons - and lots of them.

It was done by a trained team of less-than moral Huntsmen. No, it was the Dragon, everyone know's they're up to something. It was the Oni, too drunk to think of the consequences. It was a lone operator.

By 6:00, there was a 10,000 lien reward posted by the Black Hands for retrieval of the shipment.

Now, as the hour hand strikes 8:00, there's blood in the water. Some people want the money. Others want a free shipment of weapons.

Everyone's after the thief. Everyone's looking to score.

It's all a matter of who gets there first.

Happy "hunting".

Northern Territory

Adrian hummed a tune as he drove along the northern streets, the radio chattering on about the news. However, his mind was on other things.

The Black Hand were in a frenzy, even more so than the usual dissent about the true underworld. Apparently, a large supply of their weapons had been stolen from under their noses, and they had put a large reward for the retrieval of those weapons.

Personally, Adrian didn't really care about finding the weapons himself. Maybe he'd join the hunt if Kin or one of the Beasts asked him to, but otherwise, he'd just keep his eyes and ears open for rumors, as a favor for his Supplier in the Hand. Let the Beasts and their gangs find the weapons.

Adrian shooke himself out of his thoughts as he pulled up to his destination: The Lunar Clinic. He had a delivery to make.

Exiting Brimstone, Adrian opened the trunk and retrieved two large medical iceboxes. After locking the trunk and his car, Adrian carried his cargo to the door before knocking.

"Anyone in? Ah got a delivery for the Lunar Clinic." He said, speaking with a slight drawl.

The Dragon of Vale let themself whip into a frenzy and texted with a truly furious speed now that they were alone in their lair. Like, straight up, a lair, with a hoard and everything. If they were gonna have the Frightful Presence, then they were sure as shit gonna have the Lair of a Dragon too. Communicating entirely via Vale's own local wireless network in order to maintain secrecy, Georgia Drake was absolutely fine sending nothing but mass texts to any and all people tuned into the #announcements channel of The Dragon's chat server.

psa to everyone who works for me, for once i didnt steal it ok

i can just buy more shit to make bombs

im alive cuz i dont wanna fuck with illegal dust

ill gladly chew thru burner cards if it means the dusts vetted by someone who knows a chlorate from a sulfate

if yallre interested in going out to find it tho id be down

They sat atop a pile of pillows and blankets in a small apartment they rented out, one of only a few pieces of furniture in the room. The living room that directly connected to it was where they entertained guests and demonstrated their wealth, and the lair was where they actually enjoyed that wealth. Plain and economic shelves lined the walls with an eclectic assortment of books, figurines, and cassette tapes—making a comeback in recent years. There was a TV in one corner, and a sick sound system routed through the whole room that rivaled the one in the living room, but it was the shit that the phreakers and the hackers put together, all exposed wires and plugs, not the hardware store Geek Squad or whatever that you hired to again show that you could afford it.

ALSO WHY GEORGIA BOUGHT FUCKING DUST FROM PROFESSIONALS AND DIDN'T STEAL THEIR SUPPLIES FROM THE BLACK HANDS.

So, someone managed to swipe a bunch of weapons from the Black Hand? Harold Brunswick thought to himself as he walked down the streets of Vale. Talk about a major fuck-up. On the plus side, ten thousand Liens would definitely help out at home — at the very least, Holly and Harvey won't need to pull any late shifts this month, and I might actually be able to put aside some cash for repairs before I wreck my prosthetics again.

Of course, the Hare Faunus would need to find the stolen goods before he could start thinking about what to do with the money. Though he was already figuring out potential leads as to the location of them. At the moment, he was checking out the first spot — Junior's bar, a place that allegedly had been connected to both the youth gangs and the criminal underworld long before even his parents were born. If someone knew something about the theft, it was likely they were here.

Well, then, it's showtime, Brunswick, he thought, as he entered the bar, keeping an eye out for the owner of the place.

The East - On The Prowl

Boden didn't care much for the Black Hand, and he wasn't interested in the reward. What interested him more than anything however, was the knowledge that the strong would flock to this incident most assuredly. He knew what he wanted, and he knew the best way to get it. And with that knowledge in hand, the brawler dropped his latest victim to the floor, letting him join the rest of his unconscious friends on the ground.

He was deep in The Dragon's Territory, moving down streets he hadn't been down in such a long time. He was certain that he was drawing all manner of looks, but it didn't matter. All that mattered now was finding fresh prey and a lead on where he could find the thieves.

The Northern Territories: Lunar Clinic

The Lunar Clinic was a small but well-furnished little building in the Turtle's territory. Actually, it had been an abandoned warehouse, but the Nurse had done a pretty good job fixing it up.

The inside was modelled after the Beacon Medical Wing, with five good-quality beds seperated from the rest of the clinic by a white curtain, a sort of lobby with a couch and the Nurse's desk, some medical equipment and a fridge that mostly contained Onyx's junk food.

At this moment, the Nurse herself was sweeping the floor while her Scroll sat atop the desk with a call on speaker.

"So someone stole weapons, Dust, are you sure about staying there?" The speaker's voice was female and tinged with worry.

"I'm fine. I promised myself that I'd help the people here and that hasn't changed. I mean, it's not like I'm completely defenseless here. I have Angelus, and I have Onyx." replied Artemis, casually sweeping dirt into a bin. She then smiled at her lounging "bodyguard".

"Stll, though, your dad is really worried. Not to mention your mom and sister!"

Artemis sighed. "I'll take care of myself, besides, it's not like you're a paragon of safety yourself, Miss Drop from Beacon to go to the military."

The other laughed sheepishly. "Point taken. Speaking of that, I have to go soon. Training is murder here. But yeah, I've sent you some supplies, the delivery should be there soon."

"....Shiznit, take care of yourself, Di...Artemis."

The Nurse smiled wider. "Thank you, Miss Hawkeye."

The call ended and Artemis walked over to her desk to pick up her Scroll and look at the photo on her desk.

It was a picture of twin girls, one of them clinging to the other's arm as they screamed their heads off.

Artemis sighed, feeling a bit nostalgic and homesick.

At that moment, someone knocked on the door and with a small "Eep!", the Nurse hurried to answer it.

The cat faunus peeked out from the door, cat ears twitchibg slightly.

"Umm, y-yes? H-how can I help you?"

Northern Territory - Wind Up

Obadiah rolled down Casey's windows to allow a current of fresh air to wash over his pale form, the needed oxygen being taken into his nauseous body. Car sickness was not something that came easily to anyone who rolled as part of the Wheel Wolves, no, this welling feeling of slithering lightheadedness and dizzying anxiety was born from the news he had heard of the Black Hands and their missing weaponry.

It was an ill omen that he couldn't ignore, someone had thrown a pebble into placid waters and created a ripple, and he already dreaded the confrontations that could arise from the disturbance. Most of the imagined scenarios ended in his very painful and horrific end. Such vivid visions of red and rust was enough to torture his mind, that even with his trusted vehicle running beneath him, he had been forced to pull off the road and into the small parking lot of a corner store. A couple parking lots away, he could see his original destination; the Lunar Clinic.

A headache was no minor ailment after all, which his paranoia was quickly leading towards, and if he didn't want to have his brain leak out of his ears before someone can claim it for themselves in his inevitable demise, then he was going to have someone of medical expertise check it out.

For the moment, he allowed himself to rest his forehead on Casey's wheel for a few minutes, breathing in cool air and worrying about what was to come.

East Vale

Somewhere in East Vale, just outside a coffee shop, Jean sat at a table alone. She held her Scroll in one hand and a paper cup of coffee in the other. A half-eaten donut in a paper bag lay on the table.

Jean's Scroll cast her face in a light blue glow as her thumb deftly swiped the screen. She'd been tracking this disaster all day, and it was just starting to come to a head. It only took a few messages out to a few of her contacts to verify that it wasn't the Dragon responsible for the Black Hand's missing shipment. Could never be too sure when you aren't directly associated with them. Trust, but verify.

After several swift taps, a few messages came through the Dragon's network, each tagged with the stylized image of a rabbit's head.

[🐰]: i believe you. (´・ω・`)

Jean stood and drained the last dregs of coffee in one go, thinking about how a little extra pocket change would be nice.

[🐰]: if you're looking, maybe I'll tag along?

There was the sound of a throat clearing nearby, interrupting Adrian and Artemis' conversation as politely as the newcomer could. Standing there was Vanessa garbed in her deep maroon military-esque outfit, two long swords sitting on her hips. "Excuse me, I'm sorry to interrupt the supply drop. I'd like to ask the nurse a few questions about any recent patients."

Her red eyes shifted to Artemis. "That is, if you don't feel it's violating your oath of neutrality, of course."

Northern Quarter - Froggy Wants In

An unassuming Atlesian Moskvitch rolled over to the most prestigious private school in Vale that was short of the stuffy, well-groomed schools in Noble Quarter.

The driver shuffled out of the car and, making sure nobody steals it - she liked that car too much - shuffled towards the entrance, humming a merry tune. The girl was of average height and in baggy, ill-fitting clothes save for a jacket with The Turtle of Vale's symbol on it - a gift from the Beast in question.

Of course, Froggy was bad at recalling which class was his and so she spent some time sauntering about. She was a frequent visitor to the school, so most of the staff and the students didn't pay her much mind; she was just a kooky local, as far as they knew. She stuck out like a sore thumb even despite that: lacking a uniform in such a school would do that. Eventually she would, as always, find the class that The Turtle of Vale, one of the Four Beasts, was sitting in, likely bored out of his mind.

Froggy did the usual thing: shuffled the door open, gave everybody a big goofy wave (some people even reciprocated) and then waved to Turtle himself before closing it and patiently waiting for him to come out of class. He wasn't technically her direct boss, but she always went to him for a go-ahead on crazier ventures, like this stuff about Black Hands. She felt it was only right, considering he was the reason she wasn't now resting at the bottom of Vale River now.

"O-oh. Umm, good e-evening, Sir Adrian. Thank you for delivering those safely. N-not that I didn't think you could do your job of course, I-I mean you are perfectly capable....Ah...I'll shut up..."

The Nurse bowed in apology...only to bump her head on the doorframe.

Blushing in embarassment, she bowed again making sure not to hit herself.

"S-sorry. I don't mind if you go in, Sir. I...umm...made cookies if you want them. Although all we have is root beer...because...well, Onyx."

Then another person approached her, and Artemis frowned slightly.

"That depends on the question, really. If you want to track down a patient to beat them up, I'm obliged not to answer."

North Quarter - Workshop D'Barnes

"Was that one of ours? ... Yes yes I mean that whole looting of the Hand."

The source of the voice, a young man currently bearing his full regalia glances up from the glittering oil currently filtering into a nice glass bottle and across the smoke-hazed room to the piece of labware he was addressing. The distillation apparatus stubbornly refused to give response to the query.

"What, that old ghost story? I'm sorry but I don't see how a dishonored and likely dead man would be able to pull that off. Then again..."

He takes a moment to breathe the air deeply and turns to address a different inanimate object, this time his favored weapon hanging from it's rack.

"That's what dishonored and not quite dead men do innit? The impossible stuff! Badassery."

He smiles and relaxes as some small timer he had set on the table lets out a sharp ping. With a flourish he swipes the bottle of oil from the tubes that fed into it and stuck his head out the door and into the fresh(er) air.

"W-who ordered the um..? Octran slash Canolium petroblendything? It's done if you want to come pick it up or I can just leave it here if noone is planning on swiping it I mean it's pretty tuned for the guy's engine and... Not that expensive and if you have something that can process any ol' oil you're better going for cheaper generic brand. Yeah."

It's clearly a case of backroom political albumizing.

Malia, Miller's School of the Gifted

Malia stood in what had become an unofficial bar for the Tiger's forces, entertaining herself by juggling bottles and premixing some more requested drinks (those that could be). She was waiting for orders from the Tiger, or for something to do.

Damn this Black Hand business was making people unruly. Usually she had a couple of people getting drunk or having a friendly discussion, but everybody was out looking for stuff or getting into fights with other people looking for stuff.

So she played with bottles and listened for news from the Tiger.

Southern quarter

Elise Teach was having a busy evening.

Apparently a sizeable shipment of weapons had gone missing from the Black Hands and they were willing to pay good money to get them back.

Naturally, Elise wanted to get in on this reward, though snatching up the weapons for herself and her crew was also a tempting idea. So, Elise did the only thing that made sense to her at that point in time and had the entirety of the Golden Privateers begin scouring all four quarters for the weapon shipment, though considering the Privateer's usual level of competence (read: very, very low) Elise was fairly certain she would have to track the missing shipment down herself while her crew bumbled about in a vain attempt at doing something without her direct intervention.

After checking with her usual contacts and not getting anything resembling a good lead, Elise began to realize that she might have to work off the beaten path a bit here.

And where better to star than the local hub of information?

Sauntering into Junior's and up to the bar, Elise found herself a free barstool and waited for the barkeep (or anyone else of interest) to show up.

The Lunar Clinic

Now, Artemis would in fact be able to remember someone earlier that afternoon - scorched and shot up. He was short, whipcord thin, with black hair and green eyes. He was also pretty damn nervous.

When asked his name, he only said "Garrett," which may or may not have been an alias - it was hard to tell.

As far as she could tell, he was headed South, once he was well enough to walk out on his own.

Whether or not Artemis wanted to share that info, well, that was up to her.

Junior's Bar

Things are bustling, what with it being 8:00. The dance floor is packed, and the bar practically full too.

The usual Xiong goons line the walls and mingle in the upper balconies, spiffy suits and nice hats galore. If you want to trade in information, this is a good, if dangerous place to do so - after all, this is the real deal Underworld.

Tread lightly.

That being said, a certain Hare and a certain pirate may just bump into each other, trying to sit at the same stool.

In the East

There's not much unusual afoot. If Boden wants a fight, he can certainly pick one. In fact, the nearest gang of mooks is about 50 feet away, chattering and gossiping. What's more, they were at a cafe, where a certain rabbit Faunus named Jean was busy texting.

Miller's School

The Tiger wants those guns. That's the unofficial word in the West. It'd do someone well to fetch them for her - curry favor.

However, things are starting to get busy in the bar. Customers and little gangsters are rolling in for the night, looking to drink and have fun.

"S'all right, Ah know ya don't mean anything bad by it." Adrian chuckled when Artemis began to apologize, then gave a grateful nod." "Thank ya kindly, Miss Artemis." He replied, nodding politely to Vanessa as he stepped into the clinic, leaving the two ladies to talk. If he saw Onyx around as he entered, Adrian would shoot him a greeting.

Once the Canine Faunus placed the coolers in storage, he glanced around at the available space before activating his Semblance. A glowing red portal appeared in midair, and Adrian slipped both arms into it, pulling out a medical supply box which he placed on top of the coolers.

With his delivery complete, Adrian closed the portal and walked back to the entrance in order to finalize the delivery process with Artemis. If she and Vanessa were still talking, he would wait in the adjacent room.

In The East - Starting Trouble

Boden's scroll rang, he could feel it vibrating away in his pocket. It was The Tiger - or one of her underlings - no doubt about that, but it could wait. He saw something he wanted, a group of the Dragon's goons were just ahead of them. It was going to be exciting. Or boring.

He hoped it wasn't the latter as he marched his way towards the group, the ground beneath his feet shifting around as he marched toward them with death in his eyes and a wide grin on his face. The brawler kicked a chunk of earth into his hand p from out of the ground before he hurled it forwards, intent on smacking it into someone's unsuspecting face.

The North - Polaris Astra Private School

The crowd parted spastically around Froggy, not wanting to be anywhere around her. Security officials gave her the stink eye, teachers pretended she wasn't there. It was this way until she found a particular home room.

Where, seated by the window, his pale blond hair in a neat and slicked back ducktail, his white uniform pressed clean, was the Turtle of Vale. No one knew his name, few cared to ask. And currently, he was eyeing Froggy not unkindly from behind stylish reading glasses.

When it was apparent that she was going nowhere, he signed and pushed off. It was obvious class was still ongoing. He didn't appear to care as he slid the door open and gestured her to follow.

As the press of students and security got less, then he deigned to speak. "The weapons can wait. They'll end up with us anyway," he said with his cool and educated tones. "What about the wrecks from the CCT scrap? How much we got?"

What was reported by the VNN was that every part of their robotic assailants had been retrieved What was carefully hidden was that some time after the attack, in the confusion, more than a few had been stolen by the opportunistic juvies of Vale.

Maggie was out hunting for materials when she heard the news. Extra money would make this search a hell of a lot easier...

Jean grabbed the paper bag, slinging her purse over her shoulder and picking up her golf club, distracted by her Scroll and fiddling with some cheap snap-on plastic bangles on her wrist.

Jean slipped back into the store to grab another coffee for the long night ahead. At that moment, a rock flew past the window and hit one of the goons Jean had been using for cover. Jean flicked her Scroll's camera on and sent a photo of Boden through the cafe window onto the Dragon's network.

The Dragon frowned at the texts. It was actually concerning that there was someone like that hanging around the coffee shop. Around their coffee shop. Motherfucker had an awakened Aura and probably a Semblance and was going to be able to handily take on their minions. They oughta thank the bastard for weeding out the ones that couldn't at least hold out until the real asskickers showed up. Or at least give Jean a hand.

ok, gameplan, i meet w/u there and then we go figure this out

The Dragon then sprang off their bed and headed out to their garage to board a car and head out. They knew the cafe from what they saw in the picture, they'd be fine.

Artemis frowned, warring with herself. One one hand, if her patient had been the weapon thief, giving out the information might possibly get him caught....thus calming down the gangs, making things relatively more peaceful.

On the other hand, he had been her patient, and ratting out a patient would never sit well with her. Besides, they had no proof he was the one they were looking for.

The Nurse crossed her arms and sighed, looking away from the woman she was speaking to.
