It reached into its pockets and pulled out some money. "You won fair and square." "Thank you," said Mary. "I told you I was the best at racing games! See you later!" Mary left the volcano, pleased with herself.

Mary would have none of this Cthluthu business. So she packed together the usual things (nightie, toothbrush, spare underwear, Glock pistol, regular frag grenades, specially-modified anti-immortal grenades powerful enough to take down more than your common-or-garden Eldritch Abomination...) and set off for where the summoning was due to take place.
After the treacherous journey across the arid desert, tropical jungle, high seas, and snowy mountains, she finally made it. The summoning circle was inside the crater of a stratovolcano, with pillars of lava shooting out around its circumference and hot, glowing rocks highlighting the pentagram in its center. She donned her fireproof hazmat suit and walked to the center, taking care not to move any of the rocks. She kneeled down and looked up to the sky. Ominous thunderclouds swirled above the crater, turning the sky into a violent shade of purple. Bolts of lightning crashed around the place, sending chills down her spine, but she knew she was ready for this moment.
Mary laid her supplies on the circle, and began to recite an ancient spell.
