Problems with your app are as follows...

  • You can't use bonus points on Movement. No, you aren't the first to try that.
  • Dragonstones are, at this point, not even in this RP.
  • Dragonstones are also a species thing; thus, if you want to be a Manakete, I'd say that you'd probably need a special Feat for that.

Regarding the third one, let me help a bit by drafting a proposal for the appropriate Feat:

Formshift: You are a member of a species of shapeshifters. Replaces a weapon or magic skill with the Formshift skill, which is neutral in the weapon triangle and scales in power with skill rank (exact values determined by Wryte). This Feat can only be taken on character creation.

edit: Feat proposal renamed. It used to be Shapeshifter, but Formshift has precedence in Fire Emblem, so let's go with that instead. Incidentally, I hope it's obvious why I specified that it can only be taken during character creation, but just in case it somehow isn't: Either you're born a Manakete, or you aren't; there is no learning how to be one.

Hmm. While I hadn't included dragons/manakete in this world, I think I can allow for it.

Across the sea, far from Tropera, lies the mythical Isle Draco, where legends say that dragons roost. These legendary beasts are supposed to take little interest in the goings on of mere humans, but when they do, they assume a human form to walk among them unnoticed. Very rarely, some dragons mother or father half-blooded children in this fashion, called manakete. These rare offspring live long, and often reclusive lives, as their draconic abilities often make them objects of fear among normal humans, though old tales exist of people with horns and wings living happily among people in different kingdoms across the continent. In one case, legend even tells of a manakete queen who ruled over Chamur in the distant past who had the ability to transform into full dragon with the power of a magical stone.

What I'll do is give you two feats:

  • Manakete: Your draconic ancestry grants you wings that allow you to fly short distances. You are unimpeded by difficult or impassible terrain, but your movement is reduced by 1. (Note that I am not requiring this to be a creation talent. I will allow players to have their ancestry "awaken" at a later level, if they choose)
  • Dragon's Breath: You tap deeper into your draconic ancestry, allowing you to breathe fire at your foes. Dragon's Breath deals damage equal to your character level and bypasses all defenses, but must recharge for 2 rounds after each use (if you are able to double attack an enemy, the second attack will be made with your normal weapon or magic). Requires level 10 and the Manakete feat.

The dragonstone as her primary weapon is out, though; too much risk of it sidelining the rest of the party since we're not operating with durability rules. You'll have to take a normal weapon or spell proficiency to start with, though you may gain the ability later. We'll see.

Now on to stats. As Sut noted, you can't use stat points to increase movement; movement is only increased or decreased by feats and leveling up. Those 3 points will need to be moved elsewhere.

If those changes are agreeable to you, then Kiri should be good to go.

Huh. I only picked Manakete because I noticed no one had done it yet.

Let me edit the sheet then. And thanks for going to the trouble of making new feats for me. Nothing really seemed optimal for a manakete.

Kiri is currently 2 points over the starting stat total. Fix that, and she's approved.

This looks like it might be fun, and it looks like you guys need another Lance user.

Based on the player roster, it looks like the party is starting at level 5 - 6, so I take it new people would start at 5, then. Is that right?

Also, would my character come in during the next batte, as per the usual Fire Emblem setup?

This RP's policy is that newcomers start 1 level below party average; in this case I think that'd mean level 4. I'd assume that means you'll start with 47 stat points and 2 weapon ranks to spend (before feats, at least), with a maximum of 13 points spent in each stat.

Presumably you would join during the next battle, yes.

And while we're kind of down a lancer, a replacement isn't urgent because I picked up Lances recently, so I can cover that. Feel free to play whatever kind of character you want, though.

  • Name: Asher
  • Age: 20
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance: Like this.
  • Personality: Asher is contemplative, suspicious, and skeptical, but tends to accept the leadership of others without complaint. He lacks the charisma to lead effectively, so he is much more suited to the role of a diplomat and a scholar, and feels more comfortable in a subordinate role anyway. Despite alleging that he is a man of the cloth, Asher is uneasy discussing his religion, for reasons he would prefer to keep secret.
  • Backstory: When pressed, Asher briefly summarizes an unremarkable childhood in a Fraelish town in one of the few stretches of flatlands in the country, sandwiched between two tufts of dense woods. His point of great pride in his story is his time as a page, and then a squire, serving an order of knights ordained by the Goddess' church. Much of his life was spent in a great abbey, but outside of his training as a knight, Asher says as little as possible about his time there.

  • HP: 19
  • Strength: 8
  • Magic: 3
  • Skill: 8
  • Speed: 8
  • Defense: 5
  • Resistance: 4
  • Luck: 2
  • Move: 5
  • Feat: Proficient (Staves)
  • Proficiencies: Swords C, Staves D
  • Equipment:
    • Iron Sword (Mt 5, Acc 90)
    • Heal Staff (Restores 10+Mag health to an ally)
    • Vulnerary (Restore 10 health to the user, three charges)

Backstory looks good, but you're 5 points over budget for 4th level. It also looks like you totally neglected the Luck stat, not sure if that was intentional. Movement, feats, and proficiencies look good. Starting equipment at this point is Iron, so you'll have an Iron Sword, Heal Staff, and Vulnerary.

Side note, I'm excited to see someone taking the option for a str/mag hybrid build. This should be interesting!

Bring his stat total down by 5, and Asher should be good to go.

Asher should be 8 points lower than Grendan and Gramps, isn't that a bit too much?

I've been thinking. Having both Heal Staff and Vulnerary is kind of redundant.

My bad, I miscalculated. I thought I had 47 points to spend, rather than 42. Stats are fixed now, and I gave him an iron sword. Heal Staves still don't heal the user, right? If I can do that, I'll gladly drop the vulneraries.

You heal yourself. But the vulnerary is still good to have. It's free so the only other option is not to have it.

In this game they do, but vulneraries are standard equipment anyway.

Asher is approved. We'll go ahead and get you into the game now, since I'm not expecting to have the next map ready before tomorrow. I've got the terrain laid out and enemy placements, but I still have to stat out all the enemies.

In a nutshell, Frael has been invaded by Vissan, the capitol and the stronghold at Herthdon have both fallen, and anyone who won't lay down arms is being rounded up. You've fled into the mountains to evade Vissan troops, and now have happened across the company, who have taken the young prince of Frael into their custody and are escorting him out of the country. Feel free to jump in and make your introduction at any time.

Awesome, thanks. I'll post in a few hours once I've got enough time to write a proper introduction.

Actually, hang on, shouldn't I have 47 points to distribute after all? 35 points to start, plus 12 from being level 4?

You should have 47+10 HP, and you do.

19 HP + 8 Strength = 27.
27 + 3 Magic = 30.
30 + 8 Skill = 38.
38 + 8 Speed = 46.
46 + 5 Defense = 51.
51 + 4 Resistance = 55.
55 + 2 Luck = 57.
