Crossroads — More magical girls

Aki tried to lift up Allison's spirits by joking that everything that had happened to her was her fault and that the offer to get her to a hospital was still on the table. Now that she had regained her senses a bit, Al appreciated the effort.

"Well, the name really suits you"

The other girl helped Al with her obscured vision by gently breaking the ice covering her eyes. She also gave her her coat to protect her from the cold. It just came to Allison's mind that she hadn't actually heard her name. She had to fix that.

"Thanks... Uh, I still don't know your name"

Being able to see again calmed Al down somewhat and, not feeling the ice on her skin, she was free to properly process the information she was receiving from the local flora. There were some odd news. They weren't the only freaks in town.

"There are more girls like us in the park. They are gettin' to the source of these... things. I... I think they might need help"

Velita has totally been around the entire time. She's just been extremely quiet.

Aki I Crossroads I More Magical Girls?!

Aki appreciated the fact that Alice had come over and helped Al out, an appreciation she clearly displayed via a nod and a big, cheesy grin directed to the girl.

"Really?! Aww... Then I'll just have to work really hard to get rid of the 'Ditz' part, then!" she answered to Al before turning her head to her other friend. "And hey, I want to know too! You've been helping us out, and I still haven't gotten your name... Gah, another critical hit on the Ditz part! Looks I have a tough road ahead of me..." she sighed. So much for the great and amazing Aki.

It was then that Al talked of the other girls and the fact that they might need help getting rid of these things. There's more of them?! Aki didn't stop for a second to volunteer herself. "I can help out! But...," she looked over to her two newfound friends, now remembering that they're probably in worse shape than her and are still struggling with their powers. "... Can you guys take care of yourselves in the mean time?" Realizing what she's saying, she quickly rectified. "I mean, I'm not one to brag and all," Liar. "But it's all right to depend on me like a big sister! I always wanted to act like the part, heh,"

Crossroads

Good news, it seemed like Al was going to be alright now. Bad news, this meant Alice would have to speak. She mentally readied herself for the monumental task of introducing herself and said "I-I'm...Alice.". Alice really wasn't good at talking with people, and only felt more uncomfortable now that her coat wasn't on.

Luckily for Alice, her new acquaintance apparently could tell that there were other people in the park that might require assistance. Happy for a way to end the conversation quickly, Alice got up off the ground.

Aki seemed to be concerned about their well-being. Hoping to dispel any worries about her own condition, Alice responded "I.. Those things didn't even touch m-me. I'm f-fine.". Wait, was Aki planning on going to this source alone? Definitely unacceptable in Alice's opinion. Alice protested that "I won't l-let you go on your own when I am perfectly capable of helping out.".

Crossroads — Help is on the way... maybe

The girl that had given Al her coat to cover to protect her from the ice, introduced herself as Alice and seemed a bit nervous so Allison decided to make sure she felt comfortable. She had just fought a bunch of demonic wheels to help her, it's the least she could do.

"That's a cute name. And, again, thank you for savin' me" Wasn't there something she was forgetting? "Oh, and the coat, too"

Al didn't spend much time sat and stood up, casually walking to help her brain forget her near-death experience. Aki wanted to help the other girls at the park but also didn't want to leave Allison and Alice by themselves with those wheels rolling around. Alice immediately told her that she wouldn't let her fight by herself if she could help. The fact that the young girl didn't seem to realize just how the dangerous the situation was convinced Al to explain it to her.

"She's right, you can't go alone. And this is serious, Aki. You don't know what those things can do. Th—they just... eat your mind" she said, shivering at the thought of experiencing that again

Central Park -> Beyond the Portal

As with everyone else at the portal, Rosalie was having one hell of a time trying to fight all the monsters. For all her inexperience, she seemed to be pulling through well enough; she blocked incoming attacks with her shield, psychically grabbed monsters and bashed them into each other. If one got too close she punched or kicked it.

The problem was that for every one they defeated, ten more popped out of the portal, and as much as Rosalie would have liked to help the others she couldn't take her eyes off the ones focused on her for a second without risking getting overwhelmed. It was also clear to anyone watching that she was reaching her limit very quickly. Not helping matters was the demonstration of what would happen if she or anyone else fell her when a group of monsters almost overwhelmed the Darkmaster.

Then the Darkmaster and his girl did something unexpected and rather stupid: they jumped into the portal. Shortly thereafter, the cat girl decided to follow them in.

Rosalie looked into it herself with a look of apprehension. Beyond the fact that it was probably their adversaries' home turf, they had no idea what to expect from the other side. Were...were they really going in there? She didn't want to go in there.

Unfortunately, the fact remained that there wasn't much else they could do. Trying to fight the horde off out here didn't seem to be trimming their numbers at all, and there didn't seem to be a way to destroy the portal from out here. Furthermore, whatever was making the creatures clearly lay beyond it....

In the end, Rosalie steeled her nerves and took a deep breath. Then she ran as quickly as she could towards the portal, using her shield to knock any monsters out of her way, and then hopped in behind them.

The world behind the portal looked like some twisted caricature of the park. There were still trees, but they were all skeletal. The grass beneath their feet was dead. There was little that looked man-made, but what was there was smashed and rotted away. Everything was just gray, apart from the clouded sky above, which was blood red. Oddly, the entire place seemed to be arranged into some kind of maze, with the trees forming the walls. From the circular central area the portal was in, there appeared to be six paths they could take. On top of all this, there was a metaphysical chill in the air, the kind that seemed to touch the group's very souls.

Then a sound that sounded like many pieces of metal being banged together rang out. Shortly afterwards, another group of monsters appeared from one of the paths in front of the portal. Bizarrely, it seemed to be a much smaller group than the huge horde just outside.

Rosalie shivered, then turned her attention to the group of incoming monsters. Then she looked at the other two people who had entered.

"...R-ready when you are, I guess....?"

Central Park (Alyssa, Velita, Maike)

The group outside the portal still had to deal with the hordes coming out of the portal, which was disproportionately fast compared to the interior.

They kept pulling all the tricks they pulled up until this point. Whether the group wanted to continue fighting them or follow their comrades into the unknown was up to them to decide.

Aki I Crossroads I You Must Gather Your Party Before Venturing Forth

Woah, there! She didn't expect them to not let her wander off on her own. She really appreciates it that they're worried about her, but Aki really thinks she could be of help to others on her own. "Don't worry about me, I'll be fine! I won't let those things get the jump on me that easily! ... And what's there to eat from my mind, anyway? I don't think it tastes good," Then again, how does one judge how one's mind tastes like? Do they have flavors? Aki briefly wondered what hers taste like.

That Alice and Al offered to not leave her alone, she didn't miss. Certainly, she's worried about them getting into harm's way after that little skirmish, especially the tree lady. But if that means alleviating their worries for her and having more people to stop whatever this is...

Putting on a smile, she spoke out. "All right, all right! You guys win," she sighed. "The more the merrier, am I right? If you're hurt, I'll come to you as fast as I can. Oh, and if you're ever in trouble, just yell out my name and I'll be there before you know it, you hear me?!" with her so-called condition spelled out, she waited for the two to respond.

Assuming they're all done and there's nothing them, she'll began to make her way to the Central Park; where the source of all this weird phenomenon are located.

Central Park -> Through the Portal

Fortunately for Charlotte, learning so many different styles of martial arts meant she knew a thing or two about good footwork. She was able to step around the ice blasts without getting tripped up, and upon reaching the frozen creatures, shattered them one by one with sword slashes.

It was at about that point that Charlotte saw the portal ahead of her. Figuring it must be the source of the monsters, she shrugged and jumped in, rolling once she hit the ground and popping up right behind Heather and The Darkmaster. Not wanting to give the impression that she was sneak-attacking either of them—she had made a bad first impression, after all—she quickly sidestepped them both to look around. The phrase that immediately came to mind for her was "Bizarro World." The spooky chill of the place didn't quite dampen her confidence yet, but all the same...

"I don't know about y'all, but I got shit to do today. Let's get this over with." Sword still drawn, Charlotte approached the creatures, ready to swing at the first thing to come her way.

Crossroads —> Central Park — Onwards to the portal

Aki naturally brushed off the warnings both Allison and Alice had given her, joking that her mind didn't taste good and wouldn't be a nice target for the demonic wheels. Allison didn't think the joke was funny at all.

"Aki, please. You don't know what it's like. Those repulsive things make you not want to fight back"

At last, Aki agreed to take their words into consideration and proposed making the two girls call for her help if they needed it. Al really didn't want to deal with the wheels again but there were innocent girls like her in the exact same situation. No one was going to go through the same if she could help it.

"Let's just help those girls and get back home"

And, so, she proceeded to the central park.

Crossroads and then to Central Park

Allison was thankful for the coat. Good. Not so good, however, was the "eat your mind" part, which sounded absolutely terrifying to Alice. She valued her mind in the way an athlete values their body. She was significantly less comfortable with losing her mind then her body.

And yet Aki didn't seem to grasp the threat these wheels hold. There was no way Alice could leave her alone now, as the idea of this light of optimism be snuffed out too awful to bear. Alice simply nodded at Aki's condition.

As she headed to the park, Alice quickly took some more mirror leaves out of the puddle, in case there was no reflective surfaces in the park.

Central Park

"Don't worry Vels, I'm not leaving you alone!" Alyssa called out as she tried to thin the hoard approaching. Soon enough they were near the source of the the monsters, some sort of openening or tear in the world where a bleak, distorted version of the park could be seen. "What are we supposed to do about that?!"

"I-I don't know! Um, Maybe- Look out!"

Some of the other girls had already gone through the portal, leaving the remaining ones the focus of the monsters, there was no time to debate what to do now. Suddenly Alyssa's bow was frozen in her hand as she tried to guard from a frosty blast. "Ah!" She staggered back, took one last look around them and grabbed Vels with her empty left arm "Let's get out of here!"

Assuming Vels didn't do anything else, Alyssa would pull her with her through the tear into the other park

Velita yelps as her friend pulls her into the portal.

And once inside, she isn't that much more for the better. "It feels...s-so dark in here...I...I don't like it...." she stutters, shaking slightly.

Through The Portal

After stepping through the portal, Caitlyn took in her surroundings.

.. Well, something about this place made her deeply uncomfortable. She drily wondered what. The dry grass crunches under her... bare feet, apparently, (had she really been barefoot this entire time and not noticed?) as she takes a few steps forward.

Then Rosalie speaks. ".. Uh, yeah.." Caitlyn replies, a little dazed.

Suddenly everything seemed to happen very quickly... Maike shook her head... n... no this was not good... she would not go through that portal, on the ground Erwin seemed to be of the same opinion. Instead she stood fully up before letting the vine-whip crack like in those old western movies before finding a group of monsters to attack.

Strange Central Park
The Dynamic Duo was confronted with an odd choice, because for all that was similar to the other sides Heather sure didn't remember any hedge mazes in...she wanted to call it "Reality", for some reason. Still, they'd have to navigate it, and she wasn't sure of how to approach it.

Even if she was still as frightened as ever by the circumstances, suddenly everything became more frightening, if that made sense. Heather couldn't put any words to describe it, but it was like suddenly there was some slight shift to make it feel like everything had gotten worse. T.D.M. was affected the same way, but instead of fear he felt the compulsion to get more tense, more wound-up. How strange.

"...I d-don't think we should split up," Heather said after a tense silence, only broken up with the punching sounds T.D.M. was fond of making when breaking apart small wheel creatures. He grunted his approval with nothing more than a "HMMPH."

Beyond the Portal

After seeing everyone else's reaction, one part of Rosalie wanted to hop back through the portal and go back outside. And maybe run home and forget all this ever happened, assuming she could ever find a way to change back to her normal clothes. On the other hand, the girl in black armor had a point. If she came this far...why would she not go all the way?

As such, she decided to follow off after the black armor girl and the Darkmaster. She also tried throwing up a shield large enough for the both of them, but the strain of keeping that up for an extended period of time almost made her collapse from exhaustion.

The group of monsters Charlotte and the Darkmaster ran into consisted of twenty of the things. It was a hefty horde, but between the respective strength of the two of them, plus whatever support the other girls offered, it was nothing unbeatable. The more important part was that the path the group was coming from appeared to be straight and lead directly to another clearing. Furthermore, the metaphysical chill that pervaded the area just got stronger around this area.

Then another metallic clash rang out, louder at this area than directly by the portal. If they wanted to find the source, chances were they were on the right track.

Central Park

The group of three would meet some opposition from the waves of monsters, but at this point they'd likely know how to deal with them. Barring any major mishaps, they'd likely make it to the portal in due time.

However, they'd also come across a little more concerning scene. Maike, the sole girl to not go through the portal, would soon find herself mobbed by a group of fifteen monsters. Roughly half of them simply charged her, while the other half hung back and fired icy blasts at her and her fox, with the intent of hindering her movement.

She might had been able to fight some of them off, but chances were she wouldn't be able to deal with all of them on her own. Furthermore, with how close to the portal she was there was more where they came from.

Aki I Central Park I Did Someone Call For Help?

Of course, they should've expected more monsters coming at them the closer they get to wherever the other girls are. Fortunately, they don't seem to pose too much of a trouble, now that Aki knows how to fight back; fending off any monsters who gets too close to either her or the group she's with while trusting the rest of her friends to take care of themselves in case if there's any stragglers that may have escaped from her attention.

She did conjure a quick, small transparent barrier around them beforehand though, just in case.

Soon, she came upon the park and saw two things. First, something like a portal of some sorts and, seeing from the many monsters coming out of it, the main source of the problem. Second, a single cape-wearing girl and a fox in trouble, facing against multitudes of the creatures who have her surrounded. Now that's just not fair! With a resounding "Don't worry, help is on the way!", Aki, upon seeing the situation, quickly sprinted forward in an attempt to intercept some of the monsters' charge towards the girl and beat them to a pulp; all the while trying to get near said girl and conjure a barrier for the both of them, to shield themselves from the upcoming ice attacks.

Central Park

They had ran into a lot more wheels than Alice had expected. Luckily, Aki was very capable of protecting them from most of them. Still, Alice doubted that Aki could deal with all the ones by the portal, even with help.

The leaves weren't going to cut it this time. Alice reached into her coat, which Allison was currently wearing, and pulled out the hand mirror. Out of the mirror Alice pulled out a tree branch with a lot of leaves on it. While Alice could lift it no problem, for these monsters it would be incredibly dense. That's, of course, not mentioning the razor sharp crystal leaves all over Alice's new club.

Alice would attack the monsters who weren't currently using ice, trusting Aki to be more reliable at taking those ones out.

Central Park — Outperformed

The A-trio reached the park and found a small girl with some sort of fox with her. She was near the portal, sorrounded by dozens of the demonic wheels. Allison felt someone had hit her. Probably because of that vine the girl had.

"Hey, uh... I know this isn't makin' a lick of sense but I promise we are here to help. Just be careful with that whip" Aki was already making sure way of the wheels all by herself

Alice apparently had a plan beyond the way she simply reached to her coat's pocket without saying a word was a bit disturbing but Al chalked it up to her apparent shyness. Because of that, she tried to break the ice with some casual chatter.

"Oh, what do you have there?"

Turns out it was a hand mirror. Alice somehow pulled a tree branch from inside it and started clubbing the creatures "...whoa" While she was glad Aki and Alice could protect themselves and the others, Al felt a bit self-conscious about her own abilites. What kind of weird things was she thinking now? This wasn't time for a contest, they could all die. She needed to focus.

Being a bit less close to freezing to death, Allison felt a bit she could control her plant armor a bit better. The reddish armor grew all over her body and formed her armor. This was getting a bit easier now. She then approached the new girl, trying to keep her out of harm's way "Don't let them touch you"

Strange Central Park
The situation had gotten better since they had entered the portal, ironically, but Heather's nerves didn't fare as well. The squadron of monsters ahead of them were being torn into by T.D.M. and Frightening Armor Girl, and here she was, getting more frightened by the second.

While it might seem absurd to everyone involved, she slowly turned around to the rest of the group, eyes darting around the scene. Without much provocation, she nervously asked "S-So, I'm Heather, how a-are you all?"

Really, at this point she was trying to unwind from the oppressive feeling of terror permeating her right now, and socializing like this was pretty much the only way she knew how. Even if she was entirely aware that this wasn't the right time for it, she couldn't care that much.

Maike got in a (halfway decent) combat position (read: something along the lines you see in TV) only to be charged by no less than 15 monsters... things certainly didn't look good for her that much was sure. Luckily for her the others came to help her, she managed to dodge mosto theattacks thrown in her way this time - although it seems she had hit someone else and she made a mental note to apologize later. Right now she was trying to attack the mosnters who weren't being targetted by the others that came to her help.

The Other Side

Caitlyn followed after TDM and Heather again, attacking any creatures that got close to the group. She wished she had a weapon with a bigger range than her claws.. She'd rather not get close to the insect-things but if she wanted to get rid of them she didn't have any better options.

She was almost relieved when Heather asked the group their names. There was something in the air that didn't sit right with her. "My name is Caitlyn." She replies.

Beyond the Portal

"Um...a-a-are we sure t-this is a g-good time j-just to talk...?" Rosalie asked, sounding decidedly strained as she tried using her powers to support everyone fighting the monsters head on.

On one hand, she really did feel that the introductions could wait until after they'd dealt with the icy wheel monsters of horrible death. On the other hand...well, didn't she want to make friends? After all, in stories the best friends were often made in situations as trying as this. And if it'd make everyone else feel better, then....

"...I-I'm Rosalie...." she started, "Um...n-nice to m-meet you...?"

Another metallic clash rang out, bringing with it another group of twenty monsters from the same path as before. She turned towards them and took a deep breath.

"So, um....m-maybe we should s-see what that n-noise is? O-or are w-we just g-going to stay here, a-and...j-just try k-keeping them f-from getting out...? Either's cool with me...."

Central Park

Between the group's efforts, there wasn't much room for the monsters to be able to do much at all. Soon enough, they were all reduced to black smoke.

With how close to the portal they were, however, they didn't get a chance to even stop and breathe before the next wave was upon them. This group, which appeared to consist of roughly twenty or so creatures, didn't go straight in for the attack as their fallen comrades. Instead they focused on circling the girls, leaving non-reflective icy trails behind them. If not interrupted, they'd steadily tighten the circle, getting closer and closer and likely making it difficult for the girls to move.

Strange Central Park
"That's...that's all good." She wasn't even sure of why she had to say all of this, it was just coming out naturally. She couldn't honestly think of anything right now besides running away and calmly asking how their day was before all of this, so she went with the latter. "I'm kind of ne-OOF"

Said "oof" was from a wheel getting past all of the girl's defenses, hitting the back of her head and knocking her flat on her face. It didn't get far afterwards, T.D.M.'s shadow arm grabbed it and crushed it...again. Yes, this was the second time in 5 minutes that a wheel-shaped creature had crashed into her head and placed her on the ground, and it didn't feel any better the second time around.

Unlike last time, at least one of them was on-point, as T.D.M. kept his defenses up front as he pulled Heather to her feet. Said girl named after a plant had tears in her eyes at this point, and her odd friend said, "MISTRESS, KEEP YOUR WITS ABOUT YOU! THE ENEMY IS AFOOT!" Heather quickly responded back, oddly enough for her sounding actually angry, saying "I'm TRYING to keep them! Just push forward to the thing already!"

T.D.M. kept swinging with renewed fervor, as he said, "THAT'S THE SPIRIT!" and moved on forward.

Central Park — Let's blow this joint

The wheels were dead. That was great but more of them were coming out of the portal before anyone had time to react. Allison was having a hard time keeping her head in the game since she wasn't going to let them get to her again. But enough of that, they had to save the girls right? And the girls were inside the portal from what she had felt thanks to her powers.

It was time to kill two birds with one stone.

"Through the portal" she pointed at it, shaking a bit because she was terrified that it seemed like the most sensible option right now "The other girls are there"

Al ran like hell in the direction of the portal, plowing through any wheel in her way. Having that armor was suddenly paying off.
