So the show premiered a few days ago. I haven't seen it yet, but it looks like it's actually creepy. To my understanding each season will be a different story, but I'm not certain that's the case. Season one, at least, is based on "Candle Cove." Here's the season trailer:

Has anyone seen it? Does it seem promising?

S... seriously? A series based on a overdone creepypasta?

Jesus.

This'll probably be like the hundreds of Candle Cove follow ups and defictionalizations that ''completely miss the point of why Candle Cove was creepy and actually make it worse.

I've seen the first episode and it's not. It is thoroughly creepy, incorporating everything in the actual creepypasta and building more onto it.

Just watched it on Google Play; it's free there and on iTunes right now. It's pretty good. It's legitimately creepy. It's not blood-pumping horror, but it's a slow-burn which is nice. Knowing the creepypasta ruins the major twist for the first episode, as does probably knowing that this is a horror-mystery, but there are some tense moments. As I was watching, a recurring thought was "I can totally see this show pulling the cheap twist that Mike is actually Eddie, but I'm not sure if it'll actually do that."

[up] Yeah, I don't think they will do that, mainly because the mother refers to Eddie in the show, doesn't she? And Mike refers to Eddie during dinner and the others seem perfectly fine with it.

That was actually quite good. The beginning was very scary and the episode itself was creepy in a good way.

Watching something with scary puppets before going to bed keeps being a bad idea, though. Not that I will stop doing it.

I've seen the first episode and it was... okay. I can't stand the main character, I don't think it was a good idea to reveal the show was static in the first episode and I fear they'll completely miss the point of the story by explaining it with some qYog'Sothoth ripoff or something, but there's a creepy atmosphere, the Show Within a Show looks pretty good so far and the mystery could turn out to be some decent IT hommage so I'll keep watching for now.

I think the reveal in the first episode is appropriate since if you don't, those familiar with the creepypasta could get fed up with waiting and those not would probably figure it out by the second episode anyway. And it's only a six episode season. I will agree that I don't really like the main character. He makes some weird decisions (for instance if he doesn't have his mom tell his friends what she told him, I'm going to be disappointed but it would be expected), but hopefully it's to show he's not playing with a full deck.
