Opening and clocking.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThere's way too many shoehorned examples here.
Not seeing a narrative convention here, just a group of Roy examples.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here. Not convinced that this is a trope.
We don't need justice when we can forgive. We don't need tolerance when we can love.So not a trope.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them. This could not be any less of a trope if it tried. Cut it.
Not a trope, cut.

Definitely not thriving. I bet no one has ever searched for this. The inbounds are surprising, though.
Cut, but if the cut is declined due to inbounds, I suppose we could redirect it to Names to Run Away from Really Fast. (Even though that redirect will probably confuse generations of future tropers simply by existing.)
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Do folks want a "cut" crowner?

Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.Cut. Since there's no YKTTW link, it was either 1) made without going through YKTTW at all, 2) rogue launched, or 3) predates the auto-archiving of YKTTW on the discussion page. 3) is enormously unlikely, since that's been around for at least 7 years.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.The Wayback machine only has it going back to 2012.
That earliest version is really sad. Half the examples (ignoring ZCE) are called "subversions" because the character is named Roy and isn't evil! [facepalm]
I think we have enough consensus that a crowner would be redundant. No one has even expressed the mildest reservations about cutting this.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Indeed. Calling in favour of cut. And cutting it.

A pretty clear example of People Sit On Chairs, in my mind; there's no real justification for why we're tracking the name "Roy" in particular ("it sounds a bit like "Royal" is a bit of a stretch, and undoes itself if actual members of royalty are portrayed positively in the same work) , especially since half the examples aren't specific cases of the name "Roy" being presented as inherently evil, since the Roy in question either has redeeming traits or shares his first name with another, less evil Roy from the same work.
