I'm trying to brainstorm some new aspect of my magic systems. I have five elements.

Void which hold dominion over life-force/psychic energy and ectoplasm, Fire,Air, Water,Earth. And each of the Elements has arcana, difficult to grasp powers that are more abstract and metaphoric manifestations of an element'nature.

Void Arcana: Insubstantially

Fire Arcana: Potential-energy and the efficiency/degree at which mater will releases energy.

Air Arcana: Inertia

Water Arcana: entropy

Earth Arcana: gravity/density

I wanted to add a greater verity of possible arcana to each element.

So I'm asking what powers do you think can fit each element and why?

I love elemental magic! I'd like to help

What might be useful is thinking of things in groups of five, and then giving one each to the five elements So, here's a quick example. Think of five types of animals. Fish, mammals, birds, reptiles, and insects. Water gets fish, Fire gets mammals, Air gets birds, Earth gets reptiles and Void gets insects. Think of five states of matter. Earth gets solid. Water gets liquid. Air gets gas. Fire gets plasma. Void gets antimatter or intermediate. Think of five times of day. Dawn, day, dusk, evening, midnight. Fire gets day. Air gets dawn. Water gets evening. Earth gets dusk. Void gets midnight. Think of five kinds of natural elements. I love chemistry so I'm talking about the periodic table of elements. the group's I'm picking are Metals, Semimetals, liquids, gases and radioactive metals. This one is similar to states of mater, but there are so many gases and such. Think of the Four-Temperament Ensemble. Each of those humors already has an element attached. You could give some magic users powers over emotions tied to the temperaments. Void could get anti-emotion. Maybe even the five tastes. Spicy, sweet, sour, bitter and umami. Fire gets spicy. Water gets sweet. Air gets sour. Earth gets bitter. Void gets umami.

Just keep making groups of five and assignments! That's what I do and I have an 8 elemental cycle.

Void gets antimatter or intermediate.

Hmm... I would think that Void would get vacuum—the lack of matter.

Come to that, why is Void—which describes a lack of something—associated with the mind, or life? What is the intended connection?
