As I'm fine with sitting out dming, I'm totes on board
We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)Its been over a week, I am about to call it by default for Bacon.
Does any one object to this?
I wouldn't have any objections
We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)No probs
Bacon is officially the winner.
Rocket, I'd like to ask you a question before I accept or deny you;
Who, exactly, is Dustin trying to be?
I've looked over your character sheet and I can't exactly get a feel of who Dustin is, and what he's trying to be. "Rookie Hero" is also a quite vague class name that doesn't really give me too much of an idea of what he's supposed to do, beyond the fact that he seems like the fighting type. Could you give a bit more information about him to help out? Does he have any backstory? What, exactly, is he trying to be, and what skills is he cultivating to help him get there?"
"Seven is here too, dressed like the concept of choosing clothes that look nice together was an arcane secret far beyond their grasp."He is trying to be something of a vigilante hero who'd help save people from evil enemies and criminals.
For the backstory, is it how he obtained Ahrah?
That would help, though I would also like more about his backstory in this case to figure out exactly who he is.
Is this your first character?
"Seven is here too, dressed like the concept of choosing clothes that look nice together was an arcane secret far beyond their grasp."Okay. Just as something to keep in mind; Across Universes is a game about everyone. The game is not about focusing on one character to the exclusion of others; it is as much about the cast and how they cooperate with (and occasionally tolerate) each other as the things that they do.
In any event, you can feel free to add any backstory you think would help explain who Dustin is now.
"Seven is here too, dressed like the concept of choosing clothes that look nice together was an arcane secret far beyond their grasp."Well, here's the backstory on how Dustin obtained Ahrah that I've managed to create:
Dustin obtained the Blade of Ahrah from a museum as it was exhibiting Ahrah one day when a group of robbers break into the museum and steal most of the exhibits before going to it. Once they break into Ahrah's glass display case, it awakens and moves onto Dustin's hands, granting him all of the fighting and magic skills of his ancestor Dust and allowing him to successfully take down and subdue the robbers.
Alright, looks like you're good to go for now!
"Seven is here too, dressed like the concept of choosing clothes that look nice together was an arcane secret far beyond their grasp."Thanks!
First off; yeah, there's two threads named Across Universes. The first one is a game most of us were in a very long time ago, and it's been dead for several years at this point. This link goes to the latest page of the actual game that isn't dead.
As a bit of a note, AU is a more structured game than what it seems like you might be expecting. The game usually gives specific players (GMs) control of the game for extended periods of time to run events, which usually take place in specific places. So, as a word of caution, having your character just show up wherever and do whatever without taking into account what's going on is generally seen as a major faux pas, as it's disruptive to the event the GM is trying to run. In addition, it might also put you into hot water in the current environment we're in, and while no GM here intends to kill off player characters, it is generally expected that actions have consequences, and that unintelligent, risky, or ignorant actions will usually have unfavorable ones, so do keep that in mind.
So to inform you about what's going on, since I was tired and forgot when I last posted; the current plot is taking place in the universe of Warhammer 40,000, on the Jungle World of Scipio VII, where an unknown breed of extremely hostile alien has begun infesting the planet, and the player group has been brought in to try and take them out (among other odd jobs that need to be done while they're present). If you want to read more, Bcom's premise is up at the top of this page. Just keep in mind, in the event you don't already know, that it's also considered a major faux pas to have Dustin act on that information if he is not aware of it in-character.
If you can't figure out a way to enter the game with this information I can totally give you one, but if you think you're able to work with this that's fine too.

"Seven is here too, dressed like the concept of choosing clothes that look nice together was an arcane secret far beyond their grasp."Sounds great. I know nothing about Warhammer, so I need help with it
Personally? I think a good introduction would be to have Dustin wake up in the forests of Scipio and come across one of the monsters there as the rest of the player group passes by, because it gives them an excuse to link up.
"Seven is here too, dressed like the concept of choosing clothes that look nice together was an arcane secret far beyond their grasp."Great idea
Hey, Rocket Racoon. Just here to provide some feedback on how you're playing so far, since there's an issue I want to straighten out.
This is an example of roleplaying writing that we call "auto-hitting", which is an aspect of God Modding. While most of us have been doing this long enough that we know this by heart, I'll help lay down the foundation for it.
While this is mostly used for pvp games or moments, it also applies when characters try to automatically succeed in actions before the GM can properly elaborate on how well they pulled it off. While Dustin himself might be competent in swordsmanship, there's no definite guarantee that his sword can succeed in cutting through the alien foliage without the Game Master saying so.
It's better to say what the character is attempting to do or the action he is taking, not dictating the outcome yourself unless they are doing something the GM would have no input on, like patching up their wounds or unsheathing a sword. In this case, the GM would definitely be the one determining how successful Destin is in cutting through the foliage.
Just try to keep in mind your wording for the future.
We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)Noted. To be honest, it's very hard to identify what's god-modding and what's not for me
Did the roleplay died?
Not really, most of us just have jobs and poor schedules that come with them.
Additionally our current GM is having second thoughts about running his plot, so we are currently trying to figure out what to do there, and may end up changing plots.... but I am waiting for him to say one way or the other before making it official.
And finally we are also currently trying to figure out what to do about the whole scheduled thing as well.
Things should be up and running avian in a couple days, I apologize for any inconvenience this causes.
Yeah, my schedule conflicts too much as of late with the game and I’ve been feeling heavy amounts of burn out so I’m stepping down from the GM position.
In that case I will prepare for the next plot.
I have been wanting to run a return to hoshiniha since june, but like this is a community rp so I need to ask first.
Does any one have any thing they would like to run to contest that?
Not at the current time, no.
"Seven is here too, dressed like the concept of choosing clothes that look nice together was an arcane secret far beyond their grasp."
Re-posting cause sunny asked me to, this is my plot suggestion:
From: The Emperor's Holy Inquisiton, Ordo Chronos
Subject: Welcome to the Jungle.
The Planet of Scipio VII is in need of some assistance due to its defenders being away on fighting in other battles. It is thought that there may be an early stage infection of Xeno horrificus upon the planet and it needs to stamped out pronto. Unfortunately those who would be best qualified to do so, aka its defenders, are away as previously mentioned and my group of acolytes have disappeared after attempting to do so themselves. Due to a recommendation from someone we have diverted this offer to you to ask for your assistance. We can guarantee a few things on this mission:
- Your already existing armament should be ample to complete the task, though we will provide additional arms if you feel it need be.
- You will not encounter the ruinous powers, thankfully the Vanagir subsector has yet to be tainted.
- We've made sure you will not be fired upon by Imperial vessels, Tau are another story.
- What defenders remain on the planet have agreed to assist you if you wish to ask their help, though our estimates say you should not require it.
- You will be rewarded handsomely for completing the objectives which are as follows:
- Secure a sample of a psyker xeno
- Purge any nests encountered
- Ensure that local human populations have not been tainted in some way by these abominable creatures.
- Rescue any surviving acolytes that you encounter, it takes a long time to train a good team and these people were some of the best we had.
Please respond if you feel this mission suits your interests.Signed, Inquisitor Eusebius.
