For instance, in one of my settings one of the most effective beasts of war is the Griffin, not the most original I know but I do love their design as elegance mixed with sheer ferocity has always been something to be admired in my opinion. There are many different types of griffin that range from tropical breeds are a cross panthers and tropical birds as well as desert and steppe going variations that mix a golden eagle with a snow leopard.
Miniature griffins which are about the size of a large house cat are also popular pets among the affluent and are intelligent enough so that they may mimic human speech similar to a parrot.
