I was looking for Ape Man as a trope, and was very surprised to find it doesn't exist.

I was even more surprised to find that it does exist, but it's called Frazetta Man.

I had always assumed this refered to the stereotypical beefcake that was typical of Frazetta's art - and it appears from this old thread that a lot of other people thought the same. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=c1zz4lxtzetqcmovrrsfq943&page=1

I suspect that this confusion comes in part because a lot of the times the trope is listed, its a zero-context example (or in some cases, misused in line with my misunderstanding).

It's also presumably because 'Apeman' is so much more obvious as a trope for something as archytypal as an apeman (and contrary to some of the critics on the older thread, this is what Apeman usually means, not 'half human/half ape hybrid). Whereas Frazetta Man is meaningless if you don't know about Frazetta, and confusing if you do.

Like seveal people on the original thread, I think the best solution would be to rename to Ape Man. (A few disagreed, but I think that was because they were adding additional interpretations to the trope - which if valid, would mean a separate Ape Map trope would need to be created, all the apeman examples would need to be removed from Frazetta Man, and Frazetta Man would still need renaming to something more meaningful).

Redirects Are Free. Just because you don't like it is no reason for a rename. Closing for poor OP.
