Haven't had a chance to play the last few days, but I'll hopefully get it finished today or tomorrow :)

So far, knock on orthoclase, I've had a legitimately serene turn. Only about halfway through, but that's from spending a few hours poring over mental states trying to find a vampire and not 100% sure what I'm looking for.

Annnnd as I say that:

3rd Obsidian, 220:

I Deeply regret not decommissioning all the works of that mist-huffing buffoon. Why was there no direct, underground route to the falls? why the long overland hike? It's no matter now, for the Werecoati has come. I hesitate to bar the gates, with so many dwarves still outside, but I may have no choice.

4th Obsidian, 220:

The beast has fled, reverting to his humanoid form. So far no death, but the casualties are still saddeningly high. Many, I suspect, will not make it through the night. Luckily our dwarves are of strong stock, and flew into rage against the werecoati as it struck down their friends and family one after the other, forming a whirling knot of beards and punches. Our doctors will be busy for quite some time.

Reading the logs, it seems as though even my good intentions had ended up cursed. As far as my name might go, it looks as though it might very well get up there close to Rotpar territory. Never, did I think a mist shrine would have ended as terribly as it had.

Chief Medical Dwarf's Log, 8th Obsidian, 220:
Of the originally 10 wounded that were carted into my hospital, only 9 had injuries that required them to stay. A few got of lucky, a bruise here, a gash there. Most though, well, it doesn't look good. I conscripted a clerk who'd somehow managed to dodge work assignment, he's not got any training, but I could really use the extra pair of hands.

Patient Manifest

Obok Nationsmountain, Brewer: For the most part Obok did alright, unfortunately, her one wound is significant. There's not much left of her right hand beyond gristle and oozing blood. Triage Priority, Moderate. If only to prevent necrotization.

Iton Boardtaker, Potter: Iton is not so lucky, Her left elbow is basically shattered, and I doubt it's repairable. She's got pretty severe lacerations on her chest, and her left arm and leg. The same areas also appear to have notable contusions. She is suffering from severe blood loss. Triage Priority: High.

Ushat Laborleaves, Fishery Worker: This dwarf got off with only a laceration to the lower left leg. He should recover easily enough. Triage Priority: Low

Aban Minetops, Capenter: He's not looking too good. Lacerations on his chest, lower right leg, and right foot (which he also appears to have taken a serious hit to). His left leg from the waist down is little more than ragged flaps of flesh stubbornly clinging to bone. I am dubious to his chances of survival with this much bloodloss. Triage Priority: High.

Kadol Steppelancers, Mechanic: He'll have a kickasss scar on his face to brag about if he pulls through this. His right knee and left leg are utterly ruined, and his right leg is torn open. He's suffering from sever bloodloss. Triage Priority: High.

Besmar Staticguild, Carpenter: She only sustained a slash to the neck, and mangled, though still attached (technically) left foot. Triage Prio- You know what, these wounds are all serious enough that this triage scale is inadequate. Assume High Priority unless otherwise noted.

Doren Stableflag, Butcher: It's probably a little dark to find it grimly amusing that the butcher's the one who looks like she's been ground up. It looks like the werecoati tried to crush her to death, after tearing her throat out. She's got a broken foot Right foot, 4th toe on that foot, a broken right arm, and a fractured right upper leg. Currently unconcious, but appears to have most of her blood left, unlike the other poor sots.

Sodel Basementhandle, Fishery Worker: He took a pretty solid swipe from the upper left leg to the lower right arm, deep gouges from one side to the other. Looks like the coati tried to tear his neck out too. He's lost his upper front teeth, and his right hand's completely gone. nothing left but a bleeding stump. He needs immediate attention or I'm sure he'll die from bloodloss alone.

Etur Hillchanneled, Leatherworker: He got some teeth knocked out, Given the resounding beating this guy took, I suspect this was after the combatants had managed to tear every tooth from the Gods forsaken beast's mouth. He'll lose a few fingers and toes yet, Fractured upper left arm and skull. It looks like somone pinned him down and beat him into unconciousness.

On the one hand, tradition in these games is to pick another dorf to inherit your name and be your successor. On the other hand, my dorf is technically your next of kin. On the other other hand... (picks a bloody stump off the pile) I have no idea what to do about this. ;.;

My turn was basically over anyways, I think I got the save midspring/summer?

Also, I just noticed the irony of being responsible for the fort during the time our dwarves are forcibly turned into Furries

I forget if weres of the same species fight each other. If not, I'd say bunker down and call this a cursed temple.

Man was I smart to build a hospital, huh? With armor and weapons wearing down now, EVERYTHING is more dangerous. Training and hospitals are going to be critical from now on, since the better your training, the more likely you are to succeed with fewer strikes, which would make gear last longer.

[up]Having read up on werebeasts in the wiki, that's the closest thing I have to a plan right now. There may be some forced relocation of fortress facilities as well.

A thorough check of the combat logs to find who was bit and had skin, muscle, and/or fat punctured by a bite and isolate those for sure.

What's all this about researching and preparation? Flagcarnal is a temple—only sinners and heretics would be so cursed, denied the protection of the gods. Faith harder people!

Though, Rotpar, that does bring to wonder... are some just innately cursed, like my reign? Are some people just a thing for the deities to ridicule? I had faith not only in the people, but also the deities... and nay, I was unrewarded, aside from the cave spider I had in a panic smashed. Perhaps, more is to be had in order to achieve favor?

If you hadn't killed that cave spider, man. We wouldn't be in this boat now. Naw, just messing with you. It was totally the lack of a protected walkway to that mist temple that screwed things up. And my lack of military training and weapons/armor purchases. It wasn't just one person who messed up. If we had better soldiers to guard things, we might not be suffering werebeasts now.

So, combat logs apparently don't persist across saves. I've marked the cursed best I can based on the condition of the wounded but I doubt I can separate the safe from the cursed so the whole hospital might have to be declared a lost cause. Also, I may or may not be able to contain the hospital before the next full moon.

I don't think you can contain it so easily . . .

Way I built that thing is open to the whole fortress. You'll need to wall up . . . crap, my thought process went by my normal staircases not the ones in this fort.

Werefort is gonna happen. There's no way to lock that place up quickly.
