Arena

The bear grunted in pain as the blows landed, turning to face Guts as he went around to his rear. It then reared up, standing up on its two hind legs before it gave a bloodcurdling roar of challenge, daring Guts to try to attack him again.

Meanwhile, Tiaga snorted. "You ain't seen the shit that happenee a few years back. After that shit, I woulden't put it past him to have that thing stored somewhere nearby. He's got more connections then a shark has teeth."

Then he motioned to the prods. "Ain't about killing it. They kill it, they lose whatever they paid for it and have to drag a 5 ton corpse out the door. Those are to control it when they want him to stop. Probably trained it to stop when it gets shocked."

On seeing the offered flask, Taiga took it with a nod of thanks.

"I don't blame ya for not trusting Kage. Any man in his right mind woulden't. But he helped me out back when I first broke out of the joint. Diden't have to. And he took some punishment for it too."

"I can't tell you shit about his history, personal life, none of that shit, but his word is good. Man don't need to lie much when he can press a few buttons and get blackmail on half the city." He shook his head "Still can't believe how much shit's changed in 15 years.

He took a swig of the flask, then nodded in approval as he took out a pack of smokes, lighting one and offering Qrow another as he handed back the flask, holding out a lit lighter for him if he accepted the smoke.

"Good shit. What's in it?"

Shrine

The man attacking Tanya toppled over, screaming as his leg was cut and he was sent to the ground, blade clattering away. His backup was stopped by Pod's gunfire, jumping backward.

"Shit!"

"What the fuck?"

One of the goons threw a bottle filled with beer at the pod. Meanwhile, the distraction would create an opening for Tanya.

Over with 2B, the leader moved to push the guy that 2B was using as cover out of his way. The third guy, behind the leader, suddenly realized what she was doing, and pushed his leader roughly out of the way of the kick, in the prosess also causing the leader to avoid the lasers fired from stealth. However, this caused him to takebotj attacks in turn himself, and he was knocked out.

The first man who had been pushed pressed forward before 2B had any real chance to turn, swinging with his nunchucks and aiming to crack her in the back of the head, continuing to swing at her if he failed to connect.

Club

The father seemed to suddenly become shocked as he realized what they were suggesting.

"What? No no no! Don't take him out around the city at night, are you nuts? I don't want him out there with all those Yakuza thugs running around! Most people in this town bow to them, but I know the owner here, Mr Akiyama, personally. And I know he runs a tight ship, lazy as he can be sometimes, and that he's a good judge of character."

"That's why I'm ok leaving my son with his handpicked employees. But I still don't want him out there right now. You understand?"

Over with the Tuna Fish man, he picked up the sandwich as it was presented, giving it a serious and critical look. Then he took a slow bite, slowly chewing it. And then he swallowed.

"See. Was that so hard?" He pulled out a stack of bills and handed it to Yang, hardly even glancing at her. "Here's your money. Now let me enjoy this sandwich in peace."

Batting Center

"That's a shame." Majima said to Veronica. "Well, if you ever change your mind, I'm always hiring."

With that, he shrugged. "Well, my business is done here. I will be leaving now. Have a good night ladies and, er, cat pirate. Who knows, maybe I'll see you again soon. Oh, and detective, tell Kiyru-chan I'll see him soon.

"I'll pass the message along." Tanimura said, not directly looking at Majima.

He nodded, then started to leave, before Remilia started squirming. He shook his head.

"Freaky shit."

Then he left, his small army of goons behind him. Tanimira looked at Remilia.

"....Do I need to call for an ambulance? Er, a doctor, or healer, or whatever you call em if you don't have ambulances where you come from."

"Yeah whatever," Yang said, walking away from the tuna fish weirdo. Dork.

Still, two million was two million. Maybe Weiss was used to this sort of thing but it was certainly more cash than she had ever held in her hands before. She quickly palmed through the stack of bills in order to split it into two piles, tucking one stack of the bills into her shirt.

"Hey Sabrina..." Yang said, swinging one leg over a bar stool so that she could take a seat in front of the Pokémon trainer, putting her elbows on the counter and leaning in. She slapped her hand down on the bar, putting the money there.

"Thanks a million."

Sabrina, Club Elise

"Mind minding the bar while I head out to pawn this?" Sabrina pocketed the million yen Yang gave her, and then showed off the large golden plate she obtained.

"While you were out, I ended up having a heart-to-heart chat with that guy who wanted to talk to you," Sabrina smirked at Yang. "I gave him some much needed life advice, and he gave me this golden plate to pawn off, which he was planning to use to fund his spring break here... Instead, he decided to head home to try his hand at winning over the heart of a friend of his."

Qrow - Virtues and Vices; Arena

"Ah." Qrow exclaimed. He was still thinking of that bear as a Grimm. Animals weren't Grimm. They could be caged, and they could be trained.

Too bad Guts didn't have any Lightning Dust on him. He'd end the fight immediately.

"Nah. I don't smoke." Qrow waved away the offer of a cigarette. "And it's Eastern Vale brandy. I mostly keep local stuff in there. Whatever I can get. I was hoping to get some Western Mistral Whiskey in it before I got dragged into this."

"So what went down fifteen years back? Was that the other off-worlders?"

Weiss - Unfortunately, This Is Not Surprising; Club Elise

Weiss rolled her eyes, both at Yang's pun and the fact that some man has just payed two million yen for a sandwich. Even if the Yen was much weaker than the Lien (which Weiss had surmised, given the prices advertised around the place).

She also should've expected some idiot to try and buy his way into this city's debauchery with a family heirloom.

However, there was something that Weiss didn't understand.

"Why are you two in charge of a bar? Where's the rest of the staff?"

"Score!" Yang said to Sabrina, looking at the gold plate. "Good thing we traded customers, otherwise we wouldn't have that or the money! I think Weiss and I can keep an eye on things while you pawn that. Maybe take the big guy with you, there's a lot of weirdos out there trying to steal stuff."

Speaking of Weiss, Yang spun around in her bar stool so that she could press back on the counter and stretch out her arms while shooting the girl a grin.

"You see, princess," Yang said. "While you were cleaning the dirt off your dress, me and my new friend Lucy found a guy on a rooftop who has a lot of money, and he agreed to throw us the ten million we need - I mean, loan us the ten million we need," she gave Weiss a wink at the 'loan' part. "If we can handle running this place for a shift. Some sort of test or something. But if we get a few more customers like this, we won't even need that!"

Sabrina, Club Elise

"You two haven't seen what my Pokemon can do yet," Sabrina said as she whispered to Yang and Weiss. She's got one million yen and the large golden plate on her, so it was worth risking summoning a Pokemon to serve as bodyguard, and she's decided which one gets the dubious honor of seeing Kamurocho... It was lawless, but also a very silly place, so the Pokemon she chose would need to be both humanoid and silly. As Sabrina walked out the back, she made sure that no one native to Kamurocho was watching before she summoned one of her Pokemon.

"Go, Mr. Mime," Sabrina said as she released that particular Pokemon from its Pokemon.

"Mr. Mime!"

"Shh," Sabrina held a finger up to her lip. "Remain quiet and protect me from harm. Do not attack unless I order you to."

Mr. Mime merely nodded. Sabrina then got herself into character. She acted before, so this should be no different. She will just be one of Kamurocho's eccentrics with a bodyguard to match. Soon she was using the map of Kamurocho to find the nearest pawn shop while Mr. Mime kept an eye out for anything that could threaten Sabrina.

Guts, Arena

Guts' experience wielding man-sized swords didn't fail him, as his punches had a noticeable effect on the giant bear. The bear recovered from the blows quickly, however, and reared up on its hind legs to face its opponent, roaring.

Guts couldn't help but smirk. He silently thanked the bear for getting closer and closer to exposing the part he was looking for.

He charged towards the beast, accepting its challenge, and as he closed the distance, he leaped into the air, high enough to meet the bear at eye level. He reeled his single fist back and aimed his next punch at the bear's chest, all while roaring in kind.

His aim; knock the beast on its back. And if he succeeded in doing so, Guts would wrap his arm around the bear's neck and attempt to choke it out of consciousness.

Shrine Fight

"Complacency breeds weakness you know. Even the yakuza can lose their edge if there's no such opposition to continue whetting their fangs." Blood was splattered off of the saber I flicked even as the man who I acknowledged as prey went down from the cut. Truly there was no helping that the man didn't know how to actually use his own weapon in this day and age where laws and cameras acted as the shackles to weigh down on human freedom.

Magic coursed through my frame, that heady feeling ever so familiar as it doused flesh and blood with a saturation of pure power. Manipulating the flow so that quite a majority of the energy was now concentrated into the tip of my boot, it then rose so as to aim for the chin with enhanced power and speed with the whole body acting in concert to maximize the overall impact potential.

This was mercy enough already considering how our business was obstructed and how murder was frowned apart in this society, though other such concerns like the fact that there would be no sustenance in the future without the use of a straw was thoroughly waived away. They knew the risks when they wanted to dabble in the underworld, now it was simply time for their luck to run out after their bout of gambling brought a bad roll.

Bar

Quirking an eyebrow at the shenanigans and tomfoolery going on in the bar, the the fallen angel couldn't help but let a small smirk drift out as she saw their group achieve the better part of the deal in general compared to the idiots they were dealing with. It brought satisfaction to the Monster's heart and a bit of respect as well to see how easily they were fleecing millions of yens from the schmucks that wandered into their very own slice of hell.

"You did better than average given your circumstances. Should you ever end up in my part of the multiverse once all this ends, I might even try to nab you under my employment for your particular talents." Half joking and in a rather good mood, the street punk attired mythological tyrant turned her attention to the overprotective father before eyeing the man's heir with an amused glint in her eyes.

"Oh, don't worry. We'll ensure he's... properly taken care of. You need not worry about those Yakuza around here." Indeed, those words had taken into account the resident crazies that had now replaced the regular staff. "Just make sure that we get properly compensated for our service, hmm?" Rather enjoying her 'role' at the moment, the blonde continued her act in order to toy with the mortals like always.

2B - Shrine fight

The gang's squad leader had been pushed out of the way, but it didn't matter - 2B's kick had still taken one of the an enemy units. She landed and started to turn towards the enemy again, only to hear the first thug come charging at her. Before she could face him, his attack impacted the back of her head with a sharp crack.

2B's head recoiled forward perhaps a half-inch as flickering distortions bloomed across her vision for second. Her cheek twitched. Without looking up, her hand snapped upwards to catch the next swinging nun-chuck, and she turned to level her cold gaze at the offending human. She tore the weapon from his fingers and squeezed it until it shattered in one elegantly gloved hand, her other hand shooting out to grab the thug by the neck. Then, with one fluid motion, She lifted him up and slammed him down back-first onto the gang boss as he was getting to his feet.

Pod 042 simply swerved to the side to avoid the bottle thrown at him and fired another volley of laser blasts along a line inches from his target thugs' toes, keeping the pair hemmed in and distracted from Tanya with repeated explosions of vaporized grass and soil.

Medusa - Batting Center

Everything was dying down now that Dio and his new friend ran off to play. A pity, it didn't seem like there was going to be much chance for any stimulus in this world. The rest of the climbers just became white noise at this point. Not smart enough to stay out of business that didn't involve them, but not dumb enough to do anything excessive. Truly a potent state to be in. Majima stopped being a concern once he proved he was a thug acting above his station. The only thing left for her in this building was currently sending bright red fireworks in every direction and managing to hit nothing.

Medusa couldn't imagine the indignity that the young vampire was feeling, but it was getting a little hard to take her seriously. The only thing sadder than a tantrum was an unfocused tantrum. Placing a hand on her hip, Medusa carefully walked to where the Scarlet Devil was sitting and squatted down behind her. Thanks to the state her neck was in, Medusa was able to look into her eyes. The witch shook her head and let out an "Honestly" as she reached out, placing her hands on both sides of Remilia's head. Then, with a quick a unsettling crack, she twisted Remilia's head to face forward once more. It wasn't so much fixing her neck as it was just snapping it back into the right position so that her bones could mend themselves. Any vampire worth her time could recover from this.

"If you are really as old as you claim to be you should start to act like it. What would the mortals think if they saw you like this?" she asked with callous nonchalance.

She put one hand to the back of her head and gave a sheepish smile, closing her eyes and trying to change the subject. "Anyway... now we just need to make sure things are okay here. If we can just run the bar for a few more hours, we'll be able to get out of here."

She paused suddenly, both eyes opening wide and glaring at Weiss. "Wait... ice queen... have you ever had a drink?"

"It was a flock of juvenile Nevermore. Winter was attacked by them during her initiation into Atlas." Weiss said with a good-humored sigh.

Then Yang asked her a question that made her freeze. Yang could probably tell from the way Weiss flinched and her expression turning a little icy that whatever she had stumbled on was a sore subject.

"No. I've never drank. And I'd rather not." She said curtly, a little hurt seeping into her voice.

Baron, Busted

Ah. It looked like he and Kid were talking too loud. "Yeah yeah, no worries, fam." Baron replied sheepishly. Yeah, any notion of taking the kid (not that one) out was a missed one. "Ya jus' gotta discuss all da options, bad an' good, sometimes. No worries. Ya enjoy ya stay at Elise, brudda, we'll handle it."

Then, he looked at Kid. "Playa, ya better figure sumthin' out or we boned." He muttered quieter, expression grim. Lucy's assurance of the kid's good health somehow did not put him at ease.

Claw, Batting Center Business

Majima just up and left like nothing has happened. Tanimura inquired about Remilia, but then one of Dio's companions saw fit to set her straight - literally so. The crack made him flinch a little, but then he just sighed tiredly. "She'll be fine once she's done throwing a tantrum. I'd worry more about Mr. Brando and Miss Pitou's little fight. It's bound to go outside of this building."

"It's high time we leave too. Whoever wants to pick up that little bloodsucker and carry her back to Tower, I'd much appreciate 'em."

The young soldier stepped closer to the man and his son, looking between the two. "I'll look after your son, if that's alright."

Kashira Lavellan - Battle Center - Bend, But Never Break

Kashira nodded respectfully to Majima.

"Our thanks for your courtesy," she answered him. "With luck, we won't trouble you again."

The gruesome crunch of Remilia's neck being set back into place made her gut twitch, but got no outward reaction. She had seen worse than a broken neck and this undead was far more deadly than any haunted corpse of Thedas. She was no closer to a solution on how to contain the other woman once she got back up, undoubtedly humiliated and upset. More than that, if they took her back to the Tower, they would leave Dio and Pitou behind to wreak yet more havoc and break their word to Tanimura. But then, a solution came to her. It was absurd, but no more so than anything else going on and less so than many gambits that had actually succeeded.

"We can't go back yet," she said to Claw. "Not before dealing with Dio and his fight. Both of them are still a danger and unless our friend says otherwise, still wanted by the law. We need to go in there." The prospect was a grim one. Hundreds of civilians, two powerful warriors that cared nothing for any of them, thugs running around...no, there was no clean or easy way out of that. The most she could do was pick up the pieces and regret that she hadn't prevented it. And then, too... My word is worth precisely spit with that girl if I don't follow through on my promise to make her regret this little stunt.

Stepping forward, she knelt down to meet Remilia's bloody gaze.

"Want to earn some coin and get back at Dio?" she asked. "We're going after him and need your help. We also need to stop the girl fighting him. It's going to be tough."

.

.

.

The girl was almost languid in her pursuit, slender frame belied by the muscles coiling in her thighs, and fixed me with the distracted obsession of a housecat cornering a rat. Remilia, tantruming to fever-pitch, went utterly unregarded. I imagine the ceiling was forfeit entirely.

We stared at eachother for another moment, and then, in a blur of eyeshine and moonlight, she was upon me.

I was already moving. Snatching her by the slender wrist, I pivoted atop the cage and drove an elbow up into her shoulder, becoming the fulcrum around which she propelled her down into the street - I'd intended to shatter her arm entirely, but something in her aura prevented me, coiling around the point of impact to turn a pealing blow into the lightest feather touch. I barely kissed the fabric of her coat.

She pivoted in the air and landed on three points, claws leaving deep gouges in the tarmac, and the stare resumed as we came to terms. She knew I had her timing, as helpful as that would be for her, and I was developing some idea of the kind of Stand with which I was dealing, the breed of animal I'd encountered - I felt the outline of something beneath the skin of her wrist, hard and segmented, not nothing decisive enough to draw a conclusion. Only the very beginning of anything useful.

She smiled, or perhaps merely bared her fangs. This being a game which demands participation, I smiled back, improvising languidly, and reached behind my ankle to tear up a narrow length of netting, which I coiled into a tight ball in the palm of my right hand.

Then, I made my move. I let myself fall forwards, until my trajectory was set, and kicked away from the railings.

There was no distance between us, then, no relevant sight beyond the reflection in each other's eyes. At the critical moment of conflict, when adrenaline and will are intermingled, time can slow almost to a stop. Sprinters, fencers, prize-fighters, most athletes know this phenomenon well. This is not what allowed me to succeed, but it's what allows me to recall in detail.

We were both already moving, myself in a right jab bursting towards her throat, she to intercept and and take my arm at the shoulder. I saw the aura gathering around her hands, just as it had before at the armpit, shining like a frozen fire.

I opened my hand. The netting barely expanded, only enough to cover her leading claw, but served its purpose at the first flicker of confusion in her eyes. I slipped past, pivoting, chest missing her unfocused swipe by the barest of inches, left knee rising, and landed on my left foot.

My ankle shattered in a white hot agony. As the pain was halted at the knee and the reverberation of the impact shot back up my body, my other leg shot out towards her side.

Her aura hadn't had time to redistribute. My knee struck without resistance, and then, yes, beneath the fat, above the muscle, the same hard something, some organ akin the bone of a cuttlefish. My kneecap split down the middle on impact, another halted wave, but something gave the slightest way, and on the follow-through I heard the air leave that creature's lungs in the most sublime of halted sighs.

The moment gone, time resumed its normal operation. She was propelled through the window of the M-store adjacent to lie amongst the ramen and the dispossessed, bent like a jack-knife around the point of impact. There was a choir of screams and disarray, and the civilians scattered.

I collapsed on a ruined knee and a foot bent sideways, and used a life stolen from two owners to knit the bones back together. There was a manhole cover, inexplicably pristine, and as I rose to my feet I coiled a finger through the corner-hole and tore it from its rightful place.

There was no time to come to terms, much less allow her recovery. I took this sorry weapon in both hands and raced towards the shattered window.

Sumireko's KILL THE MAFIA!! KILL THE MAFIA!! KILL THE MAFIA!!
Okay, considering the track record of high school girls getting into fights with the Yakuza, this was going swimmingly. Sumireko, seeing that the fight was firmly in their favor, decided to go for the stroke of grace that would allow her to feel good about herself.

With one hand, she reached behind and pulled out the pistol she kept there, and in the other, she conjured a ball of fire. She ran up to the boss and his goon in a pile and, with the force of her mind, tried to keep them on the ground and on top of each other. To this, she would add "Don't move, or everyone's gonna shoo—"

*SHOOT*

...uhhhh....

Sumireko's pistol went off, squarely aimed at the torso of the gang member underneath her. Immediately, you could tell the plastic firearm had a large crack down the middle, but it fired without a hitch. Sumireko's eyes went wide.

Weiss - Get the Hint, Yang; Club Elise

"This has got nothing to do with the gossip rags." Weiss said harshly, before stopping herself.

Yang didn't know, she didn't deserve that reaction. She did deserve an explanation.

"I've told you about my desire to not become father. Well, I don't want to be my mother, either."

"Oh..." Yang replied to Weiss. Awkward. "Well I don't have to worry about that. My mom ran away before I could even remember her. Nooooothing there for me to copy. And it wouldn't be too bad if I wound up being like my dad or... oh no...."

She straightened out her back and sat frozen.

"Oh God," she said in horror. "I'm Uncle Qrow."

Over-dramatically, she buried her hands in her face and sprawled out on the countertop. During her antics, a squared-out protrusion on her torso bumped against the wood, reminding her that it existed. She reached into her shirt with her right hand and pulled out the stack of yen, holding it out to Weiss. Then she quirked her eyebrow, grabbed about a tenth of the stack for herself in one hand, and once again held out the remaining cash for Weiss - now minus her own little strategic reserve.

"Here, you can hold onto this. It's not much but, I dunno, maybe it can help you miss home a little less."

The Kid was being a man. Thank goodness. "Playa, ya dropped from da sky fo' me. Lemme know wen ya need a favor returned, dig?" He muttered to the Caelondian before nodding at the concerned father and shuffling away.

Shrine — Guns for the Gun Goddess, Dakka for the Dakka Throne

"This has been quite enough senseless violence for one night."

Only once Sumireko actually ran up to the gangsters herself did KOS-MOS finally stand up from her seiza, and only after the psychic girl's flimsy firearm went off did the self-proclaimed goddess finally actually do something. With a call to 119 that was silent to all present but herself, the blue-haired gynoid held her hands a little off of her sides and reached for something not present. In twin lances of blue light, her trusty G-Shot submachine guns materialized in her grip, one trained on the pile of criminal bodies on the ground, the other on the groups still engaged with 2B and Tanya. Their targets were made clear by the bright red laser sights pinned to each group as their barrels spun in slow and ominous circles.

"Now then, Yakuza brothers, you will lay down your arms and sit peacefully while we await the arrival of the ambulances that are currently on their way. Our shrine will tend to you in the meantime to ensure you do not die, because our domain is to be a place of peace. You will say you were shot by an opportunist and nondescript member of a rival clan who has since fled the scene, because no-one will believe what actually occurred. Are we understood?"

Sabrina, Club Elise

After she had successfully pawned off the golden plate for an amazing amount of cash and having returned her Pokemon to her Pokeball, Sabrina soon returned to the Club. Sabrina looked to Yang and Weiss, and showed off a large stack of bills to the two.

"This is what I got for that plate," Sabrina noted to the two Huntresses before dividing the stack in two, and handing one of the stacks to Yang while pocketing the other, smirking all the while. "What was it you said? Thanks a million."

Club Elise

"Nice!" Yang said, grabbing the offered money. She smiled, and pumped her fist in excitement. "Ahahaha... We're rich. We'll be outta here in no time... and then stuck somewhere else that isn't home."

She exhaled. "Oh well, we better put this place to use before we ditch it."

She picked up a tiny paper umbrella from behind the bar and grinned wickedly.

The end of the challenge

One way or another, each of the groups finished what they were doing, and received whatever cash they were due. In time, each of the groups would find their way back to the tower, some quicker then others. And now, with the meat of the challenge over, one task remained. Manually inserting each and every bill into a single cash slot in the door to the next floor. Even with the largest yen bills publicly available, they would still have to insert about 1000 separate bills to open the door.

Suffice it to say, this was going to take some time.
