Kashira Lavellan - Refugee Camp - Healer's Tent

Again, Kashira was struck by the similarities between this world and her own. A war among the gods that ended in the greatest among them sealed away. Yes, that was familiar. And now she knew where to look if for some reason they needed more information. Setting down her empty bowl, she stood up. It was almost time to move on. Much as she would have liked to stay, help these people, and trade stories long into the night, this was not her world and this was always the way of things. She did what she could and moved on.

In answer to the healer's question, she shrugged.

"You wouldn't know my people or the lands they travel through," she said. "They're too far from here. We call ourselves the Dalish, because we once had a homeland known as the Dales." She bowed her head slightly and her voice grew quiet. "It was taken from us, and now we wander the world, our clans scattered to the winds. The lands we travel through are called Thedas. Actually..." A faint smile touched her lips. "...my clan was more often on the plains and the desert than the forests, but I've seen all of them in turn. In my clan, I was First to the Keeper, our leader. I would have taken her place when she passed on. But life rarely works out as we hope. I would tell you more, but we have too little time, as always. It seems we are about to be on our way again. But if there is anything else I can tell you in less than a moment, ask."

She glanced over to her companion.

"I think now would be a good time for that restorative magic you mentioned."

Healer Tent

"..." For a long while, Yu was quiet as the harsh reality of Shiroe's words washed over him and echoed about his head. A part of the boy wanted to set his foot down and just continue healing everyone, but another part told him he couldn't very well spend too long around this place else the elves get attached and try to convince him to stay. There was only so much he could give and it hurt him so, but the practical part told him that getting to the swords themselves might help on a more large term. Right now they were only seeing the trees and not the forest, a fact that the teen only just figured out. Thankfully at this point, the elves seemed to have things very well in hand due to how much less of a workload they have, which all but made the youth feel a lot better about the situation. "Yes, thank you." Nodding to both Shiroe and the elf who gave the good news, Yu stood up and gave a slight bow to the elder before getting ready to get back to the main mission.

D.Va - Lakeside Merchant Cottage

"Oh darn, no potions?" D.Va pouted at the merchant. "Well, I'm sure you've got to have something in here that can help us on our quest other than that little old map, huuuuuuuh?" She jumped up onto a nearby table and sat down on it, looking at the merchant in the eyes as she slapped her leg, rubbing her hand along the logos as if tracing the lines underneath them. "Check this out."

"You see all of these?" she asked. Rhetorically, of course, as she was far from done talking. "These are logos for all sorts of corporations where I'm from - vendors and merchants, basically. I'm kiiiiiinda the most famous person on Earth - that's my planet. And these companies all pay me to wear their logos, because they want to prove they're the best companies ever so of course they're willing to pay me to tell people how awesome they are. Plus, I do commercials for them, mention them in my livestream, and have specially-themed emoticons in the chat room."

"So anywayyyyy," she continued. "I figure that since I'm new to this planet, I should get some new sponsors. But of course, I only sponsor people who I really believe in, who I think are really great. Thankfully I'm great at reading people, so I think you're totally trustworthy. So what do you say, looking to sponsor me as I rescue your missing swords and save your planet? Winkyface!"

Claw, Camp's Edge

"That's good." That was good indeed. If they could travel unimpeded to Ismenia, then perhaps getting in wouldn't be as tough. Sure, in the port itself they would have to deal with whatever army was there at the moment, and the discussion would be so much more difficult than here, where both sides have power.

"I presume it will be big enough to accomodate if not all of us then about half of our group, correct?" And then something nudged him in the back of his head, the title Leafvoyager used to address him. "...also, a master familiar?"

Giorno — Truck Group, Hillside Pass

The sparrow wheeled overhead, twittering as it studied the camp. The wooden structures near the gate seized its interest, and the diminutive bird swooped down to alight on the nearest perch that would let it get a good look at the structures and their interior. It tilted its head quizzically, as though trying to understand what it was seeing.

Theron — Lakeside Camp, Merchant’s Cottage — with D.Va

Thanking the merchant for the map (which he tucked into one of the small bags attached to his belt), Theron inclined his head at the elf, then dragged D.Va to the side. “Look, Hana,” he said and crossed his arms, “you have treated that merchant quite rudely, and I think that it is only her greed that prevented a scuffle. Would you please not barge in, next time?”

D.Va - Merchant Cottage

"More rude than dragging someone away when they're in the middle of a conversation?" D.Va said pointedly to Theron.

She skipped back over to where she had been, and sat down on the table again. "Anyway... where were we?" she said to the merchant with a wink and a pair of finger guns.

Theron — Lakeside Camp, Merchant’s Cottage > Camp’s edge

Theron shot a look after D.Va, then sighed. Instead of following her back to the merchant’s cottage — he didn’t have time to nurse children — he made his way to the camp’s edge. Seeing that people were still busy elsewhere, he stood at the edge of the crowd, waiting.

Shiroe gave Yu a painful smile, before only NOW noticing the healer that had come to relieve them, "Oh. Yu uh, they got it from here. We should get out of the way actually." The Enchanter immediately stated. As much as Shiroe understood Yu's will, he didn't want to be in the way of the arrived healer. He couldn't fault Yu for not wanting to leave them behind. But he also knew it was for the best and besides, they could handle it now.

At that, he also turned his attention to Kashira. As he had with Yu, Shiroe began to channel his own mana out of his stock. As before, the mana gathered as a steady, invisible force that he then directed into Kashira to restore her energy.

"There you go."

Minerva - The Skies

"Then you are a diplomat? Or a merchant? That's good, either way. Chances are your skills will be necessary." Minerva replied. Having someone who knew how to deal with people would be an advantage indeed.

And like as not, Rhys' skills would be needed soon. They were beginning to approach Port Ismenia, and they had not gone unnoticed.

"Hyah!" At Minerva's urging, Milady began to wing downwards, in preparation for their coming landing. Minerva's intent was to land outside the eastern gates and enter by legitimate means, rather than attempt to bypass whatever security they might or might not have set up by flying over.

Qrow - Refugee Camp. I'm guessing near the Mayor

"Do you think this boat could drop us off before we reach Port Ismenia?" Qrow slurred, having followed Instinct. "Sailing into a warzone isn't exactly my idea of a good time."

Besides, he wasn't liking the sound of these "Kingdom of Light" guys, and especially their King. If they sailed right in, they might not be able to reach the Kingdom of Darkness.

Qrow rolled his eyes and silently hoped he hadn't ended up in one of Ruby's fairytales because of some magic incident. He'd much prefer to have landed in one of those Ninjas of Love' books.

Instinct, river

The scion let out a breath. "Very well. Your hospitality has been appreciated."

If there was nothing to be done here, then there was no reason to stay.

"I will go ahead; everyone can stay if they want." She shrugged. "I shall accompany whoever is going to this boat, but I don't see any reason to linger for long. If someone is going with me, then let's leave soon."

Cassius/Toph

"Going to this boat sounds like the best idea." Cassius said, tapping his chin. "Especially if that boat is the fastest way to Ismenia. That's where these swords are gonna be, right? Which means that's where we should go!" He slinked towards Instinct, grinning. "Plus, I wanna be near when you finally get to choose your name!" He squee'd, clapping his hands excitedly.

Momentarily distracted from the Hoodlum-Off, Toph turned to Woodseer when he brought up how easy it'd be for her to just make a new structure. "You got that right. Unlike some people, I do more than just fix things." She crossed her arms, snickering loudly, clearly wanting to poke and prod Josuke more and more. "Just lead me to it and I'll handle everything."

Discussing The Boat

"It's best to examine it first. I'd rather not sink in the middle of the river just because something was amiss." Claw grunted. He didn't have much experience with riverboats, but the general design was just the same as it was with an ordinary ship.

"The four of us can give it a lookup, then start gathering all these people in one place, so we can set sail shortly."

Rhys & Loader Bot—Elf World Skies->Eastern Gate

Loader Bot’s trajectory tilted to match Minerva’s and Milady’s descent, sending Rhys scrambling for purchase midway through circling his finger next to his head in response to Ro-Man’s “seconds” remark, in a maneuver that would have sent a flood of blood to Ro-Man’s brain had the artificial life-form either.

Amidst a blooming cloud of smoke and dust, Loader Bot’s plodding feet alighted on the ground some feet away from the outpost with a subdued thump. There was a snapping of fingers as Rhys poked his head over Loader Bot’s and pointed at Minerva. “A merchant! That is exactly what I am.” Rhys said, excited to have finally breached common ground with the medieval woman. He felt bad about constantly dropping incomprehensible terms every which way, but her context was just as alien to him as his was to hers. But still, the gap in understanding wasn’t all a bad thing; this was his time to shine, and the idea of screwing up negotiations with people that didn’t know how to spell circuit board was laughable. Bracing his hand atop the flat space of Loader Bot’s upper chassis, the salaryman vaulted over Loader Bot’s head, hit the ground with knees bent, and adjusted the fringes of his vest like a true-blue nonchalant badass.

But the wind fell from his sails somewhat as Loader Bot lowered Ro-Man to the ground essentially right next to him, and Rhys's neck craned upward the difference between their heights, stature, and relative murder-osity became re-apparent. Sure, killing an entire planet was laughable, but homicide was a hell of a lot easier than genocide. Even if Ro-Man was definitely, totally, most probably exaggerating, the constructed being had pretty much done nothing but call organics stupid and lame since hitting the sky. And now, they didn’t have the convenient excuse of being the only thing keeping him air bourn.

Again, it didn’t really change anything, it just meant that he had to be especially effective in these negotiations, or the gorilla thing might rip his head off. No pressure. After patting his pocket for the comforting weight of his stun baton, Rhys turned and made to approach the gate, Loader Bot following dutifully behind him. After taking a moment to glance at how the structure towered above them, Rhys brought his eyes down to the guardsman with a smile and a raised hand. “Hey, there, guys! ” While he was an old hand at negotiation, cover stories and sly trickery were more the purview of that damn grifter that kept leaving him in the dust. He knew juuuuust enough to glean that the best stories were those you didn’t have to work all that hard at maintaining. And it wasn’t like they were trying to hide their identities from the locals anyway, as much as avoid blowing their minds. “I am Rhys, from Castle Helios.” Rhys said, graciously pressing his hand flat to his chest, before pointing at his comrades in kind. “This is Minerva, warrior knight of Macedon, and her noble steed, Milady. And that is Ro-Man, of the…” Rhys’s pointer finger hung limp, not really sure how to exaggerate his ‘thing’ when he wasn’t sure of the specifics himself. “…Ro-Men, tribe.” Having said the names out loud in quick succession, Rhys’s brow furrowed. Hold on, is that just 'robot' and 'man' crammed together? Space is weird.

Truck Group - Dark Elf Checkpoint

The wooden structures by the gates turned out to be guardposts, with desks and about a dozen guards inside. There seemed to be less activity and more order inside there. The layout of the buildings was so that large groups of people or vehicles could pass between the two buildings, with the guardposts holding soldiers ready to stop anyone who tried to pass through without permission. There was also a bar that could be lowered to stop those who tried to leave.

Giorno's eyes in the sky might pick up on an increase in activity by the gates. A small detachment of elven soldiers in black and green armour was getting ready to head through the gates, armed with swords and bows.

Port Ismenia- Eastern Gates

Whiteclad soldiers, local guards and the odd traveler along the road looked upon in awe as Minerva, Loader-Bot, Rhys and Ro-Man touched down by the city gates, and a small group of guards welcomed Rhys as he approached. They were clad in simple but well polished iron armour, emblazoned with a clear blue wave symbol, and the leader had distinct dark blue skin and sandy blonde hair.

"The spray of waves welcome you and your companions, Rhys of Castle Helios," the guard officer greeted him. "I'm afraid you arrive in troubled times, traveller, but the city is open to all of those with peaceful intentions. What business brings you to Port Ismenia?"

Lakeside Camp - Cottages

One fine stone cottage, a mended roof and an explanation of sponsorships later, the Climbers who had gone to the cottages could rejoin the rest of the group. The old wood elf had given Toph a medallion in strange, almost petrified black wood as a reward, and told the cottage menders to show it if they ever needed help from a wood elf. Where wood elves were to be found, however, he did not want to say.

Meanwhile, D.Va had been adorned with a broad green sash with white elven writing and the symbols of the trading House of Emeraldwave from Port Ismenia, after promising that she would wear it whenever they met with nobles or merchants. For this advertisement, she had been paid a handful of pale blue Coronium coins, the main currency of the land.

Lakeside Camp - Edge of Camp -> Travel to Port Ismenia

Meanwhile, at the camp, the Climbers who were ready to leave had started to gather around Mayor Leafvoyager, who explained to them the way down to the riverboat and what to tell the boatsman so that he would let them travel for free. However, some other explanations were also in order.

"My deepest apologies, captain Claw," he said to the feline seafarer after a brief conversation on the finer points of conversing with cats. "I thought you were a familiar spirit, a magical animal summoned to guide one of the mages in your party. I assure you, I meant no offence."

After this and other explanations, those Climbers who were ready to leave the camp to continue their quest received the goodbyes and wishes of safe travels from the elves of the camp. The healers thanked and said their blessings over those who had helped in the Healer's Hut, and all who had gotten food in their bellies and roofs over their heads from the Climbers waved goodbye as the group of adventurers moved on.

The walk from the camp to the riverboat was short and unadventurous, as they followed a well-trodden path down past the rapids to a small dock where a large riverboat lay moored. It was a sight to behold, for the long vessel seemed to consist of one entire giant leaf, yet it was easily large and strong enough to carry the whole group. It was a leaf of the god trees, the brown-skinned and blue-haired elf captain explained, which had grown in the age of the gods when magic was stronger. The trees were all gone, but the leaves could still be found.

While he was less than happy about making the journey to Port Ismenia for free, he didn't argue, because Mayor Leafvoyager's word was worth much around these parts. And once everyone had boarded, he pushed off from the shore and they made their way down the river. As they travelled, their surroundings shifted from forest and meadows to pastures and fields. An eerie quiet reigned along the riverbank, interrupted only by the odd sheep, because the close they got to Port Ismenia and the war, the less elves were around. They passed the empty docks of a ghostlike village, their captain bemoaning the lack of trade as of late.

With time, the grey walls of Port Ismenia came into view and grew closer, and so did the white tents of the army of King Aligels. Their captain moored the riverboat at safe distance as he had been instructed and he expected that they should be able to make it to the eastern gates of the city on foot without being disturbed. Then he bid them farewell and left to travel back upriver, leaving his passengers to continue their travels.

Once Yu let the healer through and the healers said their blessings, Shiroe looked to Yu with a nod, "Lets go rejoin the others by the mayor," He then proceeded to the mayor, before joining the group on the boat ride to Port Ismenia. The Enchanter was silent during the ride, though hoping he now had a friend in Yu. He didn't have an easy time socializing, but now wasn't the time for him to fail at such a basic. He took ease in the fact that the journey was painless and calm.

Though as they pulled up and disembarked from the boat to see all the tents, Shiroe found more unease. He had a feeling this would be a bit difficult somehow and it concerned him.

Toph used most of the trip as a chance for her to either contemplate her medal (which she attached to her armor through some quick metalbending), complain about the water to whoever would listen ("It's all fuzzy. I hate this. I hate fuzzy. Stupid fuzzy.") and leer at Josuke from afar. The kid was proving to be a never-ending provider of fun.

She couldn't help but be silently thankful. It was almost like she was back to the good old days of being the Blind Bandit.

Cassius, on the other hand, didn't have a good trip. After insisting that he wanted to sit on the edge, the boy was hit with a sudden and hard bout of sea sickness. Once his feet touched the port, the 'Great Dragon' almost immediately keeled over the edge and puked out the bread he had eaten at the camp.

"Oooh..." He moaned, massaging his face. "I don't think I like ships that much."

"Preach it." Toph mumbled as she walked past him to the front of the group. "This mission has been way too easy. I mean, back in my first trip, we couldn't take two steps without stumbling into some kind of world threat! It's good to have a break every now and then." She tapped her chin, smiling slyly. "And now we have an entire new city to explore! Wonder what kind of booze they got..."

The Kid, Travel to Port Ismenia

Having kept close enough during his guarding to get a general idea of what they were looking for and doing once they reached the city, the Kid silently followed the group as they made their way to the boat that would grant them passage down river.

The teenager spent the trip sitting quietly and peacefully towards the front of the ship, an incredibly large and durable leaf. The remnant of a god tree, the captain had called it. It certainly looked like something gods would create. Idly running his hand along it confirmed that it felt like the average leaf just, well, a lot bigger. So many strange and new things he'd already discovered today, and a good part of him was excited to see what else would be revealed. Which just left another part of him feeling guilty at sitting here, while the others back home waited for him.

Still, he couldn't move any faster than he already was, so maybe he should take a lesson from Zia and just enjoy letting the time pass by as he watched. Smiling at the thought, he began to softly humas he reached for his equipment. As he cleaned and maintained it, he watched the unbroken landscape drift by.

When the boat finally touched down on the dock at their destination, The Kid was swift to disembark. Though, not as swift as the young dark-haired boy who had previously proclaimed himself the 'Great Dragon. A boy whose stomach didn't seem to agree with the movement of the boat, and emptied his stomach onto the wood.

Snorting slightly in amusement, Kid walked up to the boy at the same time he reached back and pulled a canteen from his bag. Sloshing it in front of the boy's face, Kid spoke up. "Here. Gargle and spit first, then drink. Slowly."

Before The Rivertrip

Ah. So that was what he meant.

"I suppose I do stick out of the crowd." He grunted, shaking his head. "But no offense has been taken, Mr. Leafvoyager. I suppose we're just that strange of a bunch."

Rivertrip and Disembarking

Unlike others Claw had been apprehensive to actually board this "boat". He liked his vessels wooden and less unconventional.

It proved well enough for their company, at the very least, and the journey wasn't all too long in the end. Some still took it poorly, like the self-proclaimed Great Dragon. The feline pirate could only offer a sigh and a shake of his head. Landlubbers. Always trouble with those.

"Let's enjoy the calm while it lasts." He replied to Toph, glancing at the outline of Ismenia in the distance. The abundance of white meant Aligels' forces were the first they had to confront. "Getting in might be easy, but getting out will be a whole other story."

Ro-Man, Landing at the Eastern Gate
As they landed, Ro-Man looked over the guards that came up to stop them. Even if their plan didn't involve murder at this time, he was convinced that he could destroy them without so much as a scratch. If they were the best this land had to offer, he didn't imagine there would be much impediment to their quest at this rate.

Rhys introduced the trio, and immediately the gorilla found himself chagrined. Ro-Man tribe. Of course. He was going to have to act like some kind of neanderthal simpleton at this rate. Perhaps Rhys should let him do the improvisation next time, he'd do it better. He didn't even come up with an explanation for the large robot, or "magical construct" as he would probably put it.

There wasn't much hesitation on his part before he acted. "We travel together on religious pilgrimage!" he shouted. Even if he hated the role handed to him, he knew how to act it. "I cannot speak for these two, but the Ro-Man tribe sees the gods of your land as quite powerful, and I have traveled over sea and stone to obtain their blessing for our purposes!"

Theron — to Ismenia (beyond will have to wait)

Theron was glad to finally leave the refugee camp — it reminded him too much of Lothering and the refugees that gathered there, hoping to outrun the Blight – but he regarded the leaf-boat with scepticism. Still, he boarded it and sat at the stern, humming quietly to himself.
“It would seem to me,” he told Claw after disembarking, “that we should aim to leave that city peacefully. After all, we needn’t tell anybody of our quest.”

Kashira Levellan - Port Ismenia

Kashira had travelled by boat before, and was in no hurry to repeat the experience, but she climbed aboard the leaf-boat nonetheless. She had to restrain herself from trying to delve into whatever magic made such a ship possible. It was likely unique to this world and could not be duplicated in Thedas, at least not in the same way. After the storm-tossed waters of the Waking Sea, the journey downriver was quite pleasant, and she took the time to get out her journal and begin recording what she had learned thus far about this world and their goal. The Dalish had few books, even of their own history, only tales passed down from person to person, the stories branching and growing and changing. That was a mistake. This time, the truth would remain.

After they reached their destination and the high walls of the port city rose into view, she put away her work and jumped lightly from the boat to the river bank. Her stomach was slowly turning over, but she had fared better than some of the others, and was glad to see the Kid lending aid to the stricken Cassius. Now, they had to decide what their best course of action would be. The forces of the light elves held the city for now.

"We can simply say we're an adventuring company, as before," she said to Theron. "It's the truth. People will want to hire us, and in the conversations we can learn much. The army of the light elves will try to convince us their cause is just, and perhaps the sea elves of the city will try to win us to their cause. A powerful adventuring or mercenary company attracts attention everywhere, not all of it good, but all of it insightful."

She looked to the rest of the group.

"Once we're recovered," she said, "We should make for the city."

KOS-MOS: Camp, to Sabrina —> Riverbank Landing, to Planning Group, Cassius and Kid

KOS-MOS stared passively off at Instinct's departing back as she more or less evaded the question of naming herself. Evidently there were some rather thorny issues involved with the semidivine girl's existence to start with, but there was little use prodding those now. Best to wait until she was comfortable talking about it, the gynoid decided shortly before her thought process was interrupted by a certain Psychic.

"Although the results are inconclusive, there are several possibilities," she explained plainly to Sabrina, nodding intently at the Gym Leader's concerns, "For example, it is possible she is recording a session for later sharing with an actual audience. However, you are concerned that she may be mentally unstable, correct? Her behavior and attitude toward others so far has at least been indicative of a degree of detachment from reality, possibly related to a state of enduring emotional shock, so please rest assured that I will keep an eye on her."

That said, she left it at that and walked back over to the elder to patiently absorb the rest of his exposition, having no queries of consequence to add herself. As the other Climbers at the camp clambered into the boat, KOS-MOS took the opportunity to get the lowdown on their final stop downriver and opted to go by foot. This was largely because she was concerned that her weight might cause the boat to tip or that her heels might inadvertently puncture the apparently priceless hull and cause them all to capsize, and not at all because she wanted to avoid being in enclosed quarters with that thing for an extended period. It had been bearable at first, but the more time she spent near it, the less able to ignore its features she became.

And so, off she went, quickly accelerating to full speed with nothing to readily impede her along the way. With the land being relatively flat, bends in the river were easy to see from far enough away that she was able to adjust her trajectory smoothly and maintain an efficient path toward the stop near the apparent battle-line. The disadvantage to running at 40 miles per hour in heels across soft earth was, of course, that the dirt kicked up by her approach must have been quite noticeable to the army, but the automaton, combat-oriented though she was, felt confident that any questions on that matter could be answered without resorting to violence. Just to be safe, she slowed down to a more reasonable pace as she neared the spot, decelerating to a simple swift stride by the time the others arrived.

"I concur completely with Kashira," the blunette declared frankly, slipping into the conversation, "There is no reason to expect hostility from the natives unless we arouse too much suspicion or evoke their aggression by carelessly causing negative emotional reactions—" KOS-MOS paused abruptly. "...I will return shortly..."

The robot stepped over to intercede between The Kid and Her Other Kid. "Excuse me," she intoned with a skeptical frown, dropping to a knee and attempting to snag the flask so as to examine the contents before Cassius could lay hands on it, "What compound is contained in this canteen?"

D.Va - Port Ismenia, Talking to Kashira

Green wasn't really her favorite color, but D.Va was always determined to make anything fit her style, and this sash was no exception. Somehow managing to find space in her flightsuit to shove her Coronium coins into, she had sailed on the ship eager to get to somewhere populated so she could do her job.

"Alright Ismenia! Here comes a new challenger!" she cheered to herself as she stomped her mech off of the boat and onto the shore.

She maneuvered her mech to stand next to Kashira. "I'm pretty sure we'll attract attention no matter what we claim to be, no?" she said to the elf with a giggle. "But that idea's the best I've heard so far, so I'm game!"
