Phew. It's been a while, but I'm finally back on this. Did the shrine in the Korok forest first.
My next step is to head to Tarrey Town / the Akkala Research Lab. Got some wooden weapons, switched to non metal armor, and gonna stop at an inn to buff my hearts, then make the journey there....
Shit. Threw away the torch I had. That'll be an issue. Oh well, I'm sure I can't get another at some point.
The real issue will be the rain.
Anyway, I'm just gonna wait until the next blood moon to ensure I don't get caught off guard while working, and then I'm on my way. After that, I'll see about getting more Korok seeds and buffing my inventory.
One Strip! One Strip!I had a Blood Moon occur in the middle of the Akkala research lab torch quest thing.
It was unpleasant.

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."
That's pretty much what I'm trying to avoid.
Edit: Good grief. I've fast forward near a fire multiple times, but now I can't get a blood moon. I'm even checking with Hino to see if it's going down, but I'm getting every moon but that one. It's galling.
I know that the moment I try and go without getting it first, it's gonna happen too. Screw you for not giving it to me when I'm trying to be ready game!

One Strip! One Strip! You know, I'm get slightly annoyed by the selfie-registering thing, because it's just so finicky for some reason.
If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television. When I first went to the Akkala Research Facility, there was a violent thunderstorm. I powered through the rain and lightning, to burst through the door and be greeted by a mad scientist. I doubt that was scripted, but it was just so perfect it might as well have been.
Ukrainian Red CrossBlood moons are triggered, IIRC, by the number of enemies you kill. Go and clear out a few monster camps, perhaps.
Heart of StoneBah. I'm trying to save my weapons though. My current inventory is full and I'm out of Korok seeds for more.
Meh, I guess there is something I can use, but it's still annoying really. I'll give it a try. I mean, it makes sense that a mechanic that restores dead enemies needs enemies to be killed to trigger.
One Strip! One Strip! As far as I'm aware, it's more that a BM will replace a random full moon occurring within the game's lunar cycle, with the odds for it increasing for every enemy you kill.
Switch FC code: SW-4420-1809-1805Have you learned how to steal weapons from Hinoxes yet? It's a great way to top up your weapons without fighting. So you could kill a bunch of lesser enemies, then stock back up without much risk.
Actually, yeah, I do know how to steal from those dudes.
Right now I have a lot of guardian weapons from the two trials I did though, and while I can get those back, I guess I'm just reluctant to do so.
That's always been a bit of an issue with me (not wanting to lose weapons, even though they can be replaced). I need to get out of that mentality.
One Strip! One Strip!Blood Moons exist to periodically reset the open world to its default state, so the game doesn't crash trying to keep track of hundreds of little instances of the player affecting the world. It keeps the save file sizes down, too. So it's not just killing enemies that makes Blood Moons happen more often, but pretty much everything you do. And they can happen on any night.
Also, sometimes a Blood Moon will happen immediately apropos of nothing at any time of day, which I'm pretty sure is covering for a game crash.
Regarding not having torches, as noted before (by me, IIRC), pretty much anywhere there's a cook pot there will be a torch.
On the subject of Akkala region stuff, though, after finishing the Tech Lab quest there's a minigame given to you by Aya outside the East Akkala Stables, about lighting the lamp she's sitting next to with a blue flame, and doing so in less than three minutes. You can cheat that by lighting a lantern not that far northish of the stable, heading towards Bloodleaf Lake, then talk to her and accept the challenge. Making it in 20 seconds or less nets a gold rupee (300), a silver (100) for doing it in under a minute, and purple (50) for under three minutes.
All your safe space are belong to TrumpBy the way, what's the most effective method for kill those random wolves that sometimes show up? The ones that circle around you?
One Strip! One Strip!Bombs.
Switch FC code: SW-4420-1809-1805Really?
Cause they move around so much you'd think they'd avoid it...or you end up hitting yourself while trying to get them.
One Strip! One Strip!Definitely bombs. They like to circle at just about the perfect distance for you to chuck it at them and set it of just as it lands, and they have almost no HP so it's an instant kill.
/ Yeah, I'd guess at least 75% of my prime and gourmet meat is from them

I like to make a little game of shepherding as many of them as possible into the blast radius. An excellent source of Prime Meat (if not Gourmet Meat, depending on your location).
Switch FC code: SW-4420-1809-1805Eh, I usually hit them with a spear. When they slow down for a moment, you can get within spear-striking distance and hit them enough times to kill them.
I agree that they are an excellent source of meat.
I just use fire arrows and a Royal Bow or an fire weapon when I'm hunting wolves. That way, the meat can be more useful instead of me starting an campfire.
Answer no master, never the slave Carry your dreams down into the grave Every heart, like every soul, equal to breakMmm, yummy wolf meat.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! For wolves, I generally prefer to nail them with bombs as they're howling. That's the cleanest window to hit them. If they manage to close in on me before I can pull that off... I usually like to start running in a direction, then quickly double back and strike the ones tailing me closest. They don't see that coming.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Alright, I made it to both Tarrey Town and the Akala Ancient Research Lab.
And now I'm at the furnace. Time to pick up the nearby Torch and...
...and...pick up the torch that's probably right near the furnace, because it's a long trip there and back, and I got clear skies for a while so...so...
...oh shit. There's no torch. There was supposed to be a torch near the furnace. I thought you guys said there'd be one. Now I gotta go back to where there is one!
PLEASE TELL ME THERE'S A TORCH NEAR THE FURNACE AND I JUST CAN'T FIND IT!!!
One Strip! One Strip!
Yeah, the stuff you can potentially get from an amiibo is pretty sweet, but that manages to avert Bribing Your Way to Victory by making the armor spawns from amiibo as rare drops. I once got lucky and got the Tunic of the Wind from the Toon Link amiibo, but it's the only amiibo armor drop I've gotten (lest you have too much pity on me, I got two Twilight Bows from the Zelda amiibo, which makes hunting for dragon parts a breeze). Not to mention, upgrading those requires a whole bunch of Star Fragments, while the armors you buy can be upgraded much easier.
To be perfectly honest, I got more out of the common drops that came with the Zelda amiibo. Ganondorf just straight up gives you rupees, Zelda gives gems, and Toon Link tends to drop fish that can otherwise be a pain in the ass to catch. Those in particular helped in the early game when money was a bit more of a crunch and I still was learning the best way to harvest materials for upgrading equipment.
One minor hint - if you are going to use amiibo, do yourself a favor and get somewhere flat to do so (I like just in front of Impa's house). Stuff can and will roll away after being summoned if you're not careful.
