Seems like Volition is merging GTA V's three protagonist system with the recent Hero Shooter craze that came with Overwatch and Battleborn. Hot diggity, color me interested.
I hope it will have coop, because there's only one thing better than causing mayhem: causing mayhem with friends.
Amen to that!
AHOY, MOTHERFUCKERS!
Unfortunately that's really the one thing that stuck with me in that trailer aside from how cartoonishly evil-looking DOCTOR BABYLON was.
That pistol wielding chick was cute. I might play as her.
These guys made Saints Row so I expect some hilarious hi-jinks somewhere down the line.
You can't get it wrong if it's the truth!I like it. But there are some things that bug me.
Two of the characters have a kind of Pirate theme but then the third is an Action Hero Movie Star? One of these things is not like the other. It might not be a bad choice and the story might reflect on that, but it does stand out to me.
Another is the graphics. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE the Art Style and animation (The 2D ANIMATION TOO!) and the hair looks pretty cool. But, it feels like its hitting the issue that Telltale has been hitting HARD recently where their art style and assets look great but the graphics themselves are dated compared to what they're going for. Just... I don't know how to describe it but there are just small bits where things look off model or the mouths are making strange shapes and it feels like the engine isn't quite on par with current gen.
Anyone thought that was Viola at the end of the trailer?
Also I hope there are more playable heroes than just the already introduced 3.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I doubt it's Viola, because she should be viola-ting Hell right now. Maybe one of her grandgrandgrandgrandgrandgranddaughters?
Stream summary (stream over, summary complete)
- Not a Saints Row game. This is a new IP with connections to the Saints Row universe.
- Takes place after Gat Out of Hell's retcon ending, which creates a universe where the Saints (as an organization) never existed.
- Persephone Brimstone is the leader of MAYHEM, an organization dedicated to stopping LEGION. MAYHEM doesn't care about collateral damage.
- Not a MOBA or a hero shooter. Is a third person open world game.
- Art style is said to be similar to trailer.
- First gameplay footage will be released at E3.
- 6 writers.
- Voice actor information is forthcoming.
- Volition refused to confirm or deny whether Brimstone is the Boss.
- Brand new engine built for this game.
- Environmental destruction won't be a huge thing in this game because it's process power heavy and Nordic Games has the rights to the environmental destruction mechanics they used for the Red Faction series.
- "Is Carlos alright in this universe?" "I'm sure that there are many people named Carlos who are alright"
- Game takes place in Seoul. Seoul is said to be a detailed enviroment. There's the street level, you can climb up contruction sites to get to the rooftops, and there are secret LEGION underground layers. Not another copypaste of Steelport. Seoul has varied areas, like SR2's Stillwater.
- Jason Blair came up with Hardtack's "Ahoy motherfucker"
- Joked about how Fortune is the best skypirate because she is the only sky pirate.
- Chip Cheezum's favorite agents are Daisy and Scheherazade. Those two are popular with the other guys streaming. Kingpin is another popular one.
- Daisy is described as "completely unfiltered"
- "Is there any gays?" "yeah" There are LGBT characters in the game, but not Everyone Is Bi like rumors have suggested.
- A comedy game, although they were hesitant to say that it was the same style of humor as SR4
- They have not announced when in 2017 the game is set for release.
- No word on Collector's Edition.
- Game is more of a What If? than a direct sequel to the Saints Row series
- Yes, there will be Saints Row easter eggs. Strongly implied that some of the Saints might make cameos. And there was a little hint that one of the agents might be an alternate universe Saint.
- You can drive vehicles in this game.
- "Which Shaundi is canon?" "The answer is yes."
- Everyone really loves Daisy. Apparently, she's as awesome as the actress who portrays her.
- No co-op
- Doctor Babylon is the leader of Legion's Ministry of Pride. He's the leader of Legion and is something of an evil monologuer. He's by far the most mundane of the villains in this game. Babylon specializes in Dark Matter manipulation, which allows him to take over Seoul's overwatch defense drones.
- Saturday morning cartoons are a huge inspiration. "What if we were making G.I. Joe for adults?"
- Fortune has her own airship. She is Colombian living in Brazil. The agents are a diverse group and are mostly from different countries. Hardtack and Hollywood are an exception: Hardtack is East Coast American, Hollywood is West Coast American.
- You have to play the game to find out if Hardtack is actually missing an eye or if he just wears it because he's a sailor.
- Game's too early in production to release the PC requirements
- The fight in the trailer is a "2" on the craziness scale of the fights in the game.
- Game is "nothing like Overwatch
- Ultor funds MAYHEM to fight LEGION
- Persephone Brimstone personifies the theme of Bad vs. Evil from the Saints Row series.
- There's an Agents of Mayhem theme song with lyrics. It hasn't been shown off yet.
- Brimstone has the Saints logo in her office because the Fleur is a French symbol and Brimstone is French.
- Agents of Mayhem is not the new direction of Saints Row. They implied that the door is open for more Saints Row games.
- The game will be modable, but no details yet.
- No meme humor because they don't want to date the game's humor.
- Malcolm Kirby, the composer for SR3 and SR4 did the music for the announce trailer. They wouldn't confirm if Kirby is the composer for the game proper.
- Development started when SR4 wrapped up. Gat Out of Hell was contracted out to High Voltage with a small team from Volition supporting them.
- Too early to say if there will be a playable demo.

Damn I'm kinda sad it takes place in the Gat's a cop ending. Cause wow imagine that, an entire universe where the Saints never existed at all. Fuck, that means no Boss & all the awesome shit he did with the crew, all the work he accomplished becoming nothing.
Wait is 6 writers a lot, little or average?
The fuck? No co-op really?

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."No meme humor? Considering the quality of the crap churned over imgur and social media these days, good.
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotWell actually that would mean Boss, Gat and Shaundi were doing other stuff. They did specifically say that the Saints never existed as an organization. Not that the members stopped existing. So, given who they are, I'm sure they did other over-the-top amazing things to compensate their non-being-in-a-street-gang-ness.

So I discovered the official website the other day. The site has a section for the various agents, including the silhouettes and code names of the unrevealed agents. And Yeti looks suspiciously like Oleg.
Damn that's a lot of agents.
I wonder if a character substituting as the boss can appear?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."This game looks like it could potentially be pretty promising.
Here's hoping that, being set in Seoul, it'll actually have some playable Asian characters.

"We'll take the next chance, and the next, until we win, or the chances are spent."IGN E3 interview containing gameplay footage.
New trailer. Yeti sure looks and sounds familiar.
Release date is August 15, 2017.
GOD DAMN IT I JUST SAW THIS AND WANTED TO POST IT, MMMMRMM..
Hrh-hrm. -straightens tie- This game looks like a smashing fusion of Saints Row, Overwatch, Crackdown, and Sunset Overdrive. Or perhaps it's all of those things since they were all cut from similar clothes - bouncy, over-the-top, sci-fi action with a certain, childish charm. Mmm, quite.
Seriously the Saints Row references are all over that trailer, I wanted this to be a "fake trailer" disguised as another game's trailer, just for Saints Row V to pop out of the background.
I saw Oleg, Ultor, Saints-symbolized cars, and Zin ships.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Few places I'm reading about impressions on it seem to be generally disinterested in it, sadly.
Polygon did a preview vid.
Kingpin is Pierce Washington. So he's earned a permanent spot on my roster.
Y Eah the humour apparently is a bit Borderlands-level overbearing.
I'm not sure about the whole "switching heroes" thing - looking at it, I may find it harder to "Identify" with them, as they're essentially just a different gear setup rather than a character perhaps. If there'd been all three at once, like a squad shooter and you could flick between them.
Calling it now, Ultor is funding both LEGION and MAYHEM so that the carnage of constant warfare creates a market for selling their weapons
yeyYup, just read the plot synopsis, it's a sequel to Gat out of Hell where the Saints chose the "remake Earth" option.
Saints Row' humor has been "Borderlands-level overbearing" since 3. That's what makes it fun. It's absolutely stopped taking itself seriously.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!
Volition just announced a new game, Agents of Mayhem, out 2017 for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
I've embedded the game's debut trailer below. No gameplay footage, but the concept certainly seems fun.
The last few seconds make me think that this is a followup to a certain ending of Saints Row IV: Gat Out of Hell
Edit: IGN writeup: tl;dr, it's a single player open world action game where you play as a squad of three agents.
