I'm wondering if this shouldn't have something with the characters discussing this rather than something like the current.
Judging by the examples, it's not really an in-universe trope, but a premise that's regarded as cool.

No consensus on a caption; locking up.
It's an awesome image for sure, but there's something up with the quality. I'm not having much luck so far finding a straight quality upgrade. The best one I could find was from a Bloody Disgusting article that also happened to be watermarked. This movie, Edge of Empire, has apparently been in Development Hell for years.
