So is navigating the Ultra Wormhole as Luck-Based Mission as it looks or is there an actual way to distinguish the legend wormholes from the trash wormholes.

So progress report and weird stuff:

  • Speaking of fire trial, the patterns are different. Also, one of the dancers dropped their sticks, which is kinda funny. The totem is better than the previous game's one, but since I overleveled it, even the (still OP) no type advantage (but immune to Ground) Hawlucha was able to take it down.
  • Flew back to previous areas for some random catching and picking up items I missed.
  • After picking up the Flyinium Z at the first isle, Kahili just randomly appears! I had a real laugh out of that!
  • Well instead of Poke Pelago just appearing when you get Charizard ride, Mohn actually walks by to add it to your menu, which is a nice touch since some people may not have noticed it at all. Upgraded Isle Abeens and Isle Aplenny first.
  • We went through a new creepy tunnel where there's no music, and the Recon Squad chatted a bit with Colress. Colress left without a fight this time.
  • What's the indication that a Pokemon has reserved the ingredient? (The Sudowoodo one was easy, just pick the one that doesn't move.)
  • What happened to "Press X to Pound!"
    • And I guess Kiawe and Lana learned their lesson from the first time, they don't wanna have anything to do with the dish.
  • State of the party: I didn't realize Gyarados didn't have a STAB until level 31. Bite is decent though, but so much for trying to use him in fire trial. I'm about to fire my Inkay due to too many physical attackers.

Yeah she's cute.

I hope you guys have turned exp share off <_< I was kind of like wtf when the sudowoodo outlevelled nearly all my mons in the mallow trial lol. However the trial wasn't that hard with torracat. Maybe I got lucky since Lurantis summoned keckleon and keck didn't do too much. Also helped that I brought arbok and Gyrados along to cut her attack 3 times. Probably the 2nd easiest trial so far.

SPEAKING of, the trial marowak has a thick club, so bring a thief to snag it from him! I'm also getting close to 40 stickers! I enjoy the little sidequests Ultra SM added as it really does fill out the game more.

Gonna pick up a grass type in lush jungle since I lack one ATM. Probably a special attacker since I have only floette and magnemite right now.I don't plan on sticking with Mr. Mime lol. Team right now is

  • Torracat(Savage) - lvl 24
  • Lopunny(Jessica) - lvl 22
  • Zorua(zorua) - lvl 23
  • Magnemite(Magneto) - lvl 18
  • Grubbin(Tesla) - lvl 19
  • Mr. Mime(Mimi) - lvl 17
  • Arbok(Naga) - lvl 23
  • A-diglett(Terra) - lvl 22
  • Rufflet(Tomahawk) - lvl 23
  • Floette(Duchess) - lvl 21
  • Gyrados(Riptide) - lvl 25

Been rotating between them each trial, which is probably why I'm a bit behind on levels.

Why the hell aren't Red and Blue doing anything about Giovanni? Why do I gotta do it all? Damn you Story and Gameplay Segregation!

Also, do Dusk Balls work in the Ultra Wormhole or should I stick with Ultra Balls?

I'm really not seeing a reason for all the hate at Rotom-dex in Ultra Sun and Moon. It's been perfectly fine for me, and I've really been enjoying the ability to have back-and-forth conversations with it this time around. I mean, I guess it does recommend that I heal up my Pokemon if I end a fight with one of them fainted or in critical condition, but I don't really see a problem with that. It's touching to see it concerned for its fellow Pokemon's health.

It hasn't said that I should save yet, but if it did I'd probably be grateful, honestly. I always forget to save for long stretches of time and I've lost many hours of gameplay due to the game turning off in the past, for various reasons, so I'd love a reminder to save every once in a while. I also like that the cue that Rotom wants attention is half-lidded eyes, it's not something super blatant, so I get to metaphorically pat myself on the back for recognizing that something's bothering Rotom without explicitly being told (I have Asperger's, so this one is mostly a 'me' thing).

I've seen people complaining about it saying stuff every time you exit a menu or look at the map.

That seems like an odd complaint. You do have the option to just ignore the Rotom Dex if it's annoying you, and unlike most helper characters in games, ignoring it is really easy to do. Nothing it says disrupts the normal gameplay, and its dialogue is only on the bottom screen, which you can just not look at.

The problem is that when it's talking you can't see the map, and it repeats the same tips ad nauseam.

Even worse, they're smarmy about it and lampshade how you don't want its advice, only to provide it again and again and again anyway.

A lot of people use the map to navigate and since he spends so much time talking you have to wait for it.

He is easy to ignore and chances are you really don't need the minimap if you've played the initial versions already.

But the constant HEY BUDDY YOU SHOULD HEAL UR POKE- gets as johnny bravo would say, "really old really fast."

Beat Olivia, funny I was just talking about how hard anorith hits in the pokemon general thread and her anorith took 45% away from magnemite with one bug bite! Lileep was a bit annoying but I was able to stop it and Lycanroc I managed to paralyze with arbok plus it couldn't do much against Dugtrio after two attack cuts via Arbok. Not too bad a fight really.

Got totem marowak and after some resets one with an adamant nature! Only one level from shadow bone and I have the thick club stolen from the boss one earlier. Thing is gonna be a BEAST...I might refrain from using it lol.

Also the battle in Paniola town, having Hau send out dartrix and the camera panning out to dartrix, who then proceeds to flip his hair was just perfect. That sealed rowlett as Hau's canon starter for me lol.

I don't know if the following needs to be in spoiler tags, but just in case. I saw some videos of USUM, and the starter gets out of its poke ball right before you head to the Pokemon League. I'm guessing that doesn't do anything in the long run, but I wanna ask to make sure. I haven't gotten my game yet, but I feel like not using my starter when I start playing.

Whew, Totem Marowak was no slouch. It and Salazzle outspeed and kill just about everything I have. I had to lead in with Oricorio Supersonic Skystriking the first two enemies. Then it just weakens Marowak and dies. Brionne came in, hit Salazzle while hoping it isn't hit too hard. Next turn Brionne Hydro Vorttex's Mariowak, which doesn't kill it, then dies. Sacrifice another Pokemon to revive Brionne, who finishes off Marowak with Aqua Jet. Then since it's Tormented, switch out to another sacrifice. Brionne comes back in for the Aqua Jet kill.

I'm annoyed at Rotom because I like having the map on screen, and need to use the pen to dismiss it.

EDIT: Also just caught all of the Ditto Five.

Did anyone else get really good natures from all of them?

I just checked my boxes and I got: Bold, Jolly, Adamant, Modest and Timid.

I mean that could have just been luck, but if so that's pretty good luck.

So, I have no problem with a game having difficult bosses, in principle. Thing is, that difficulty needs to not come out of nowhere.

That being said, screw Ultra Necrozma. When I got to it, it was a full twelve levels above anything in my party, and it gets a +1 boost to everything to boot! It was able to outspeed and OHKO everything in my party. Eventually, I tried to cheese it a little by putting a Quick Claw on my A-Raichu and resetting until I could hit it with Nuzzle. I figured once it was paralyzed, my speedier party members could actually hit it, giving me a way to wear it down.

Turns out even paralyzed, it still outsped everything I had.

I eventually beat it by using the same tactic, but with Toxic instead. So, pretty much resetting my console until it decided I won. I take no satisfaction in that. It feels like I cheated.

For reference, my party:
Incineroar
A-Raichu
Wishiwashi
A-Dugtrio
Tsareena (Queenly Majesty and Trop Kick have been surprisingly useful)
Butterfree (was initially supposed to be temporary, but that 97% accuracy Sleep Powder has saved my butt so many times)

Wait wait wait,, you used 3 z-moves against a-wak? That's kind of madness lol.

I haven't gotten that power at all, oddly enough. Also rotom seems to chat more the more you pay attention to him so ignoring him and keeping him miserable makes him slightly less annoying.

Not gonna lie it's a bit funny/creepy how he starts glowing after some of the questions.Especially the professor one, as it makes it seem like he's getting turned on by Kukui.
