Space. The Final Frontier. It is here where Man will embark on his final exploration and where he will live... and die.

You feel a soft breeze on your face, that's strange, you awake with a shock and see a orange sky before you, with a large planet in it. Well that's one way to wake up... you have no idea how you got here and now that you look at it. You are surrounded by other beings waking up, all of a diverse caliber of different faces.

You then notice the fact that there appear to be Fighter Jets or Spaceships surrounding you, and the sound of engines are heard. And strangely, you know how to pilot the one that's right next to you.

The engines get louder as a large spaceship appears to crash not too far off, and over the sounds of radios and comms devices a cry is heard "Mayday! Mayday! We need backup! We are under attack by unknown forces! Help!"


Welcome everyone to the RP "To The Ends of The Universe" a Six Degrees Of Freedom Inspired RP. And as such some of the rules will be quite similar to Six Degrees of Freedom.

Let's lay down the Guidelines.

  • Please no antagonistic characters, I already have the villain fully planned and a plot set out, we don't need to worry about others fighting for main villain role.
  • OCs and Established Characters are Fine, I have no issue with established characters because something weird is going on and you've all been pulled here for a reason.
  • Fighters must be kept at a reasonable size, the biggest I'm willing to allow is the Federal Corvette of Elite Dangerous. We still want things small enough to fit on the Mothership.
  • Please no Mecha Fighters, I want to keep this relatively Space fighter related, though transforming mechs are allowed so long as they never transform in combat.

Alright everyone good? Let's move onto character creation.


Pilot

  • Name: Who are they?
  • Age: Please try to keep the ages reasonable
  • Sex:
  • Appearance: What do they look like? Pictures are allowed
  • Background/Personality: What are they like?
  • Gear/Equipment: What tools and weapons do they have on hand?
  • Powers/Skills: What abilities do they have on hand? No "Basic Pilot Skill" as that will be presumed anyways.
  • Notes: Anything you feel the GM should know that wouldn't fit in any of the categories?

Fighter Craft

  • Name: What does your pilot call it?
  • Role: What is it's purpose?
  • Appearance: What kind of Fighter does it look like? Pictures accepted.
  • Weapon Systems: What is it armed with?
  • Defense Systems: How is it protected?
  • Maneuverability: How fast is it and can it properly turn or do a barrel role? Please try to keep these in line with it's role.
  • Notes: Anything else?

  • Appearance: This handsome guy here.
  • Background: Sergey was born in one of the many colonies of Earth, he got into the militia at a low age and from there proceeded into the regular military. After finishing his training he was transferred to a unit stationed near his homeworld, the 64th Bomber Wing Screaming Pidgeons. Most of his active time he was with said 64th Bomber wing where he served dutifully. Though a few months in the past his wing got the order to shoot on civillian transports fleeing from a planet, nobody wanted to obey such an order so the whole squad went rogue. With no safe haven to land on attrition took its toll and from the 8 bombers that went to the mission only Sergey's isn't destroyed. He now decided that this running would have to come to an end.
  • Personality: Normaly quite jovial Sergey always likes to hear a good joke and will find a good thing in most situations. He will avoid anything in combat that would directly or indirectly cause harm to non-combatants.

  • Background: Alyesha hails from the same world Sergey does, though came to the squad much later. She just finished her training in the fleet academy. Like most of the rest of the squad she did not need real persuasion to go rogue.

  • Appearance: Bulky and cumbersome one can immideatly notice that this ship was not made for dogfighting. The cockpit is on the left-hand side of the ship while the fearsome 180mm L/71 smoothbore cannon is on the right-hand one. The cockpit is arranged quite narrow for such a big ship so Alyesha sits with her back to Sergey like in the fighters of the old days. To both sides of the ship are 20 Missle Launchers.

So Sergey doesn't have any notable skills? nothing like great shot, or ace pilot.

And from what I understand the ship is basically heavily armed and armored but moves and turns slowly.

I'm currently still thinking about his skills and if he should have some notable so I guess I should change that back to WIP (book that as copy paste mistake from my side XD)

And yes, heavly armed and armored but flies like a brick, it can take quite the punishment - and it needs to since it likely won't be able to evade said punishment. But the preferred method would be to destroy a target from long range and don't even get in the enemies weapons range in the first place which is why most of the weapons are for long range. The Rotaries would be for medium range but that's it. I was thinking of adding a CIWS so missiles at least could be kinda intercepted, but yeah that would be mostly done then.

Look I'm gonna be honest. I don't recognize most of the Acronyms, but the basics of rotary cannons, the smoothbore cannon and the 40mm launchers are all fine. Nothing too absurd and fits for it.

So for the most part it looks like you'll be accepted.

Made labelnotes for it, note that a Ballistic Cap technically is useless in space but in the atmposhere its better (doesn't mean the Alesha should - or could - fight in the atmosphere though.)

Could I mount a sort of shield booster or some other kind of support weapon my ship?

Currently I'm thinking of mounting the rotaries on drones, one one hand they could be better used to engage enemies since they're not so ludicrously sluggish, on the other hand it would strip the Alyesha from any kind of weapon for close range and since the drones would be lightly armored, they could be easily shot down if hit properly. So their advantages would come at a price.

If you mean drones like the ones in FTL, I could see that working for the Alyesha.

Yep, those. Though I have to admit I thought them to be more like Funnels/Fangs from Gundam (although I would say they're mostly the same anyway)

Drones would count in defensive systems and wouldn't be allowed to go to far.

And support weapons are perfectly fine but would count within the notes or defensive systems as they are used to protect. Not attack. And careful Sergey, don't go too far.

Yes. Yes you would. They essentially are defensive systems, just used to boost others defensive systems.

Pilot Sheet

Name: Emily Cerenkov.
Sex: Identifies as and looks female, but physically has no sex.
Species: Zoltan.
Appearance: [1], except lavender, which among Zoltan is odd, but not unheard of.
Personality: Emily is very much a happy-go-lucky sort of girl, prone to excited outbursts over things she finds cool (which is a lot of stuff) and happy to get along with anyone and (if possible) everyone. She's also a bit of a foodie, with a correspondingly large appetite, and despite her seemingly simple exterior, she's quite knowledgeable about a wealth of things, from medical care to ship repair. Admittedly, most of them don't really apply to the beings and ships that she's now in the company of. Or most anything else, for that matter.
Gear: A laser pistol... That's pretty much it, actually, since Zoltan don't wear clothes.
Powers: All Zoltan are basically energy beings, so they can use part of the energy that makes up their body to help power a ship system. Emily keeps a portion of it set aside for just that.
Skills: Emily is good at piloting ships, given her previous position on the Noether. She can fight hand-to-hand decently well, but not well enough that it makes her stand out in a fight.
Physical Abilities: Emily is decent at fighting, but as Zoltan have much less stamina than your average human, she tires quickly. To help mitigate that, she has the aforementioned laser pistol.
Biography: Emily was the pilot and original owner of the Noether, a Zoltan ship tasked with delivering vital information to the Federation fleet, which could deliver them from defeat at the hands of a Rebel fleet that was steadily gaining momentum as they captured system after system. However, the crew of the Noether ran into an extremely well-equipped pirate ship, and though they did destroy the ship, Emily ended up burning to death in a fire created by a missile that hit the cockpit. Emily thought her self dead... And then she in the middle of space, staring at an unknown planet, inside her beloved ship, nary a scratch on either of them, looking for all the world as if she had just been passing through. The various supplies, personal belongings, and other evidence of her coworker's existence were still there, but the two other Zoltan themselves were nowhere to be found.

Fighter Sheet

Name: Noether.
Appearance: [2]
Role: Solidly anti-ship.
Offensive Capability: The Pike Beam can tear across entire ships; however, it doesn't do a lot of actual damage, and it requires a good while to charge up. It also cannot pierce any shields.
Defensive Capability: The Noether also has two weak ion cannons, which charge relatively quickly and are helpful in taking down shields to allow the Pike Beam through, or disabling certain systems. However, the Noether has no conventional shielding systems, instead relying on its Zoltan Supershield, which can take a lot of punishment, but once it goes down, it stays down for long enough that it won't matter.
Mobility: The Noether, despite rather blobby appearances, is quite nimble. Though its speed is merely average, its handling is almost unparalleled.
Extras: Comes equipped with a functioning medbay, four bunk beds, and a couple of valuable spare parts.

Name: Arik Gastino
Age: 28
Sex: Male
Appearance: Clean shaven, with brown eyes. 5'10. Has short, straight dark brown hair. Solidly built.
Background/Personality: As a young man, he joined the military after failing a job as a planetary researcher. He soon found out that he is naturally skilled in flying, and quickly rose to the top of his squad. When not in a war, he helped colonies by mining ores and materials with his multi-use spacecraft. He's impulsive, smart in a fight, and friendly.
Gear/Equipment: Has a ARKEN-1 R/C Pistol, which is a rail/coil gun made into a pistol. Fires barbed metal spikes. 5 rounds in a magazine, fires at very high velocity.
Powers/Skills: Great pilot, relatively good marksman. Can recognize different types of metal and materials.

Fighter Craft
Name: Marksman
Role: Mining/Interceptor/Assualt craft.
Appearance:[1]
Weapon Systems:Two very fast firing Machine Guns, capable of overheating, that fire depleted uranium plasma core explosive rounds. A Missile Launcher that can be detonated on contact or remotely detonated which releases 4 smaller, weaker missiles. It also has a Targeting Beacon that targets enemy ships so that friendly ships can do more damage.
Defensive Systems: A small, weak shield generator, and very little armor. It is, however, equipped with a Quantum Shield. The Quantum Shield can only be activated for about 10 seconds and has a long cooldown, but an take a lot of damage compared to its other defenses.
Maneuverability: Can do a 180 in about 3 seconds if the thrusters are on, about 1 second if they aren't.

Okay, have made it into a drone but reduced the number to 1 instead of 2 rotaries to keep things balanced, so I guess the only real purpose it serves is point defense and attacking light fighters, basically think of it like a mobile turret - zero armor. One solid hit and goodbye drone which means goodbye Alyesha.

Basically the drone is made by the principle of:

  • Step 1: Take the weapon plus its ammunition
  • Step 2: Slap some maneuver-thrusters and a remotecontrol on it
  • Step 3: Finished

It won't be able to get further than... I'd say 5 meters from the ship. Basically its a defensive turret on the ship that can be deployed for a short time to increase its coverage.

To balance it further it can only deploy for ~5 minutes. So it would mostly stay attached to the ship. I'd say it can be viewed as a normal turret for most of the time and ould only deploy if there is no other way. (Maybe even add a wire for control that can handily be separated)

If it can fly through space, isn't gigantic, and can fight in combat ala dog-fighting or anything similar. Then there will be no issue.
