Whoever these ghostbusters are, their methods sound like a certain familiar miko's. Youmu knew that most humans weren't exactly ambivalent towards the dead, but why would someone make a movie out of that in any case? Stuffing ghosts in boxes doesn't exactly sound like riveting action. The chances of some kind of spirit-sealing box being behind that door were slim, sure...but everyone else was backing away. Youmu didn't exactly feel ready to open that door fully, so she quietly shut it. What's the rush, anyhow?

About the phantom's next question, Youmu was blunt. "I'm...not really that dead yet." Walking towards the room of promised foodstuffs, Youmu figured that these people must've heard of a half-phantom at least once during their stays in the afterlife.

“S-sounds good to me, Napstablook…”

Yuki-Onna continued to give that optimistic smile to Napstablook as she watched Napstablook fade through the door on the right. What?! How did Napstablook do that?! Did Napstablook use magic?!

When Yuki-Onna overheard Youmu mention that, she glanced towards Youmu and raised an eyebrow at the obvious paradox in the room. Half-phantom?! Who is the mother and who is the father in this case?! Is the mother the phantom or is the father the phantom?

“I’m s-sorry, but h-how is that possible?”

Entry Hall -> Dining Room

Kyra patiently waited for the others to make a decision on whether to go to the dining room or the door immediately opposite it first. When it looked like that they were going with the latter first, she moved to join them, just in time to catch Stanley's question about how everyone died.

"Where I'm from, that's not a good question to ask a new face," she said, frowning, "You see, oftentimes those who have died recently still have to get over the fact that they, well, died. It's better to help them adjust to it and wait for them to open up on their own if you're that curious about it." She shrugged. "Then again, I'm also from the Afterlife; I'm not stuck in the land of the living. Maybe it's different for that kind of spirit. And, well, if we're here I'd hope we've adjusted to the fact that we're dead anyway...."

She paused for a moment. "...Anyway, I just got sick. Yeah. Boring, I know."

She then followed the others over to the dining room. She didn't seem to have much of a reaction to Napstablook just phasing through instead of opening the door conventionally; plenty of spirits had the ability to do that, even if she herself didn't. If anything, she looked more confused that Yuki was confused.

She pulled the door open herself and held it open for everyone else.

The dining room was a very large room. It was colored in mostly shades of white, but it was still brighter than the entry hall. Lighting was provided from a group of four fancy chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. There were a large number of circular tables with white tablecloths arranged evenly; clearly, K.B. was expecting more guests than just the five that showed up so far.

In the very center of the room was a long table with a wide variety of foodstuffs on it. While it looked similar to the food of the living, the guests would indeed find it to be quite palatable. K.B. had clearly done their research in regards to the sorts of food spirits would be able to consume; the guests would likely find something they recognized among the offerings. Silverware, plates, and drinking glasses sat on either end.

Youmu shrugged. "Nobody's ever told me, so I'm ultimately in the dark as well. Both my parents were half-phantoms. And their parents, and as far as I've ever seen the family registry, all halves." Youmu tugged at the tail end of her ghosty bit, and pulled it to attention. "This is the 'half' part. Only half my soul is in the afterlife. But, everything else besides that, I know as much as you." The mechanics of her race were something that she had never found out about, or for that matter wanted to find out about, because the whole thing seemed normal to her. Her earlier guess was incorrect, this one hadn't ever heard of a half-phantom it seems.

The table had plenty of different foodstuffs on it, but it all smelled weird. Taking a dumpling surreptitiously placed near her, she bit into it. The insides looked like a normal beef dumpling, but it had a strong taste of ectoplasm...which considering the owner evidently tailored this meal to ghosts made sense, but the flavor wasn't one she enjoyed. They probably expected Yuyuko to come instead of her. Handing it to her ghost half, it certainly seemed to enjoy the taste. She continued her conversation. "I mean, you haven't spent much time in the afterlife, have you? There's enough of my kind around there so that you would've noticed at least one. Did you get booted out by a Yama that quickly, then?"

Dining Room

Yuki-Onna listened to Youmu’s explanation for Youmu’s heritage. Although Youmu answered Yuki-Onna’s question on who Youmu’s parents were in a logical manner, the explanation brought up many questions on how Youmu’s ancestors became half-ghosts. Yuki-Onna decided not to press Youmu further as getting those answers would just be a complete waste of time.

Yuki-Onna entered the dining room last. She didn’t want to take any risks even though K.B invited the group over. Better safe than sorry, right? There was an amazing buffet laid out for the group. Since the others are enjoying the buffet, why do not join them? Marcia slowly approached a bowl filled with chicken noodle soup and had a taste. Although the soup was good, she began to wonder something. What kind of chicken noodle soup had white noodles?

After finishing the soup, Yuki-Onna started to sweat. Was it that warm? In an attempt at cooling herself off, she exhaled and a stream of cold air surrounded her. The sweat vanished after a bit, and Yuki-Onna felt much better.

Yuki-Onna heard something about a Yama from Youmu. She just shook her head and said, "S-sorry... I, um, never h-heard about them. C-could you explain?"

Dining Room

Napstablook had hardly ever seen so much food in one place, let alone entirely food that ghosts were able to eat. Back home, they had their refrigerator and went out shopping once in a while, but that was all.

They floated over to the table and picked up something simple—a sandwich. Upon taking a bite, they even found that it wasn't that bad.

Napstablook listened to the conversations going on around them, but chose to remain silent for the time being. What a weird bunch of ghosts.
