I always thought they were meant to foreshadow the conception of Anakin as likely the work of a Sith Lord - Sidious or his master. Beyond that, there doesn't seem to be an explicit cut-off line. Jedi just got the best early picks, but it appears as an ability that may manifest well into one's twenties. Given its basis in real-life martial arts (and some early remarks by Lucas, for all they're worth now), it's likely that anyone can attain some mastery, and the Jedi are merely the ones dedicating most of their time to it.
That's not really what happened though. Anakin hadn't slept in days and being on that dark joo-joo was affecting his judgement.
So the only reason he lost to Obi Wan was because he was so arrogant that jumping into Obi Wan's lightsaber reach was something he thought he could risk and win.
Besides at that point Anakin hadn't even achieved half his potential yet.

Any reviews of Rouge One out yet? I imagine it's still too early.
No reviews yet, but a bunch of journalists got to see the 28 minutes of the movie this past weekend and loved it. Here's some reactions from twitter.
George Lucas also apparently liked it, for what it's worth. He was rather meh about TFA, but Rogue One he liked it.
For me, it's a sign of hope.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I can imagine.
I've been watching a lot of TV spots on You Tube and every shot I see of the raid on Scarif just makes me more and more excited XD
It looks like we might have another piece of animated canon making its big scene debute alongside Saw Guerra.
Well hello!
Any idea how where Rebels is on the timeline at the moment? How far off are we from when Rogue One takes place?
Oh God! Natural light! The Legends timeline for both the Death Star's construction and the theft of the plans was extremely confusing. I'm sort of glad there's just one version now.
I think we've got about four to three years between them since Rogue One takes place at the latest a couple months before A New Hope.

Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.I was under the impression that Rebels begins about 5 years prior to A New Hope, and a couple years have passed since then.
Oh God! Natural light!Yeah, it's been two-ish years since the first season of Rebels took place on the show, so we're anywhere from a year and half to two years between Rebels, Rogue One, and ANH taking place on the timeline.

I bet when the Lucasfilm Story Group first heard the proposal for Rogue One, their first instinct may have been to groan because there were like 8 variations of that story in Legends. They must be relived to have something definitive now.

That's one of the good things about the EU being tossed out, it makes everything a lot more streamlined, and this movie in particular is going to finally say, definitively, exactly how those "Rebel ships, striking from a hidden base", were able to score the Alliance's first major victory.
jfc can you believe we're only a week away from Rogue One now? Because I still can't. o___o
After TFA, it feels like par for the course for me.
but HOW?....Anyways, I can't wait for Rogue One! Some of the stuff I heard sound really awesome, and it looks like Rogue One will actually enhance watching ANH in a lot of ways, based on some plot points in the movie itself.
I'm going into this movie pretty much with no expectations, just like with TFA (well okay that's only true for the couple days right before I saw the movie, before that I was pretty convinced it would be terrible). I have an idea what the movie's gonna be about, but I still don't feel like I can get a good judge on how I'll feel about the content, other than the fact that I'm gonna be hearing a whole lot of strong accents.
I'm still a little bummed it's not gonna be about Rogue Squadron.
but HOW?Well, Rogue Squadron is probably gonna be named for the group known as Rogue One, probably. I'm speculating here, as I don't know myself, but could be cool.
Before this movie, the only Rogue One I knew of was basically whoever Rogue Leader happened to be at any given time.
but HOW?I've seen Red Squadron in a lot more places these days referring to Luke's group, so maybe Disney is dropping calling them Rogue Squadron in favor of the original name.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Nah they always went with 'Rogue Leader', the only time 'Rogue One' existed was when Luke came back to fly and wedge went by 'Rogue One' that mission while Luke went by 'Rogue Leader'.

That "Creature Featurette" up there is really encouraging. The only nonhuman I've seen in the marketing so far is that Cthulhu-faced prisoner sharing Jyn's cell in the second trailer. Which is weird, since we've always heard the Empire was human-supremacist (for lack of a better term) and yet the Rogue One gang is all humans, plus one robot. I'm digging the heck out of that little monkey dude.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?
That is more or less exactly what Qui-Gon actually says during his Midichlorians speech. "Without them, there would be no life" and whatnot.
