Eesh. Been there, done that. I feel your pain.
Though in my case, it was from abusing the "pick up where you left off feature" on web browsers and accidentally saving over a newer version of my document with an old one.
Condolences man.
I've had my art programs crash on me too. <3
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes! Finally got a new chapter. On the bright side, it's easily my favorite chapter thus far. I had way too much fun with Outback Island, holy shit.
Starting on it, and the first thing I noticed is that these guys are unusually chummy or anti-authority. Shouldn't the new recruits be calling Nick as "Officer Wilde" or something?
Typo found: Judy stopped mid-dail.
Ok done. So there's some action going on. I like how the ferry was described. To be fair to "obvious" like the police boat being requested, everyone takes the ferry, at least...
There's one thing I'm weird about... why didn't Nick call Jimmy after Jimmy "disappeared"? And why didn't Judy immediately call Jimmy after the three got together.
Anyway, looks like our rookie's gonna be hauled to a secluded place and tortured now, I guess?
I can think of better ways for Nick to handle the situation, but that's the way it goes, sometimes you say things you don't mean when yer annoyed or angry. Ah, the scent of the poor kid's dreams getting crushed by his idol. He has even no idea why Nick is his idol or something. Heh heh heh. Nick should've told Jimmy what he told Judy in the movie to crush her dreams. Only this time, it would've been appropriate and not dream-crushing...
It took me a while to understand what "^s" means. Heh. At first at was like, this hacker lingo ain't Nick, did someone like in another fic (spoiler for that) steal his phone and use it to text Judy? Then it dawned on me...

My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!@Berserker: Just posted another review. Something I forgot to mention, it's a good thing you described the tacky, touristy entrance to Outback Island, which should give me plenty of background material to work with once Sam goes and visits the quieter, less busy side of the island later in my work.
@Malco: I had assumed that the new recruits' chummy, anti-authority stance was in some way inspired by Nick and Judy's own Cowboy Cop tendencies. Although Frost in particular seems to be a stickler for proper procedure in every other sense, if only so he can prove himself. That is, if he is who he looks like...
"If you think like a child, you will do a child's work."You know, I didn't even think about Nick just calling Jimmy, but they're known each for like what, two hours? They just didn't bother to exchange numbers yet. Probably should have, but whatever. And if it wasn't clear from their introduction, these are not exactly meek, subservient rookies.
Man Malco, I love your reviews, but I always feel like I have to carry a shovel around to fill in all the plot holes you point out.
That's the best analogy I've heard in a long while.
"If you think like a child, you will do a child's work."Good point, that works.
Sorry! (not sorry)
I'm known for brutal honesty in real life, and... I guess that's why I'm not well liked in real life, heh heh heh...
Well just keep that shovel nearby.
I hate cell phones, makes modern times things hard to write.

My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes! So here's something that's strangely never occurred to me: I know Zootopia has a mayor, but would you think that the individual districts would have some kind of representative as well? I'm not sure what you would call that person though. A governor?
I'm literally using this for a single gag, so it's not too important of a question.

I'd say that'd be plausible. I remember mentioning a 'provisional council' running the city while both former mayors are in prison before, so it wouldn't be at all unexpected for the 'governors' of each district to be the members of said council.

"If you think like a child, you will do a child's work."Yeah, okay. I am not going into detail with that though. This thing is running on Loads And Loads Of Characters as it is.
Well, I wonder if Zootopia has counties and sheriffs.
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes! Now that I'm getting into the 'meat' of the story, writing longer chapters isn't nearly as difficult as I thought it would be.
My fanfiction.net account, for those brave enough.I think getting past the intro is a challenge in itself. Good job!
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!I know right? I'm having the same experience. I somehow just sat down and typed up 2,000 words of Chapter 7 in one sitting.
That was embarassing. I managed to post in the wrong thread just now. >_>
While I'm here, might as well give a status update. Working on descriptions, and I've discovered that, when it comes to pure would-building, things can get wordy. I'm not sure if it's a refreshing change or not from inner monologues and the like.
Also, over in Forum Games, I'll admit that I've been RPing as Nick and Judy to get a better feel for their character in preparation for a later chapter. At one point, I may have made a reference to the cut character Honeybadger. I have a headcanon that she still exists in the universe and is still a conspiracy theorist, but is also Finnick's girlfriend/lady-friend. I wonder if I can't reference her in this story somehow...

"If you think like a child, you will do a child's work."You could. Technically, Honey was retooled into Dr. Honeybadger in the movie, but you could easily make her a separate character.
I have my own update. Namely that my next chapter is almost done and it's a doozy.

Nice. That means I won't have to ask you for spoilers. :V
"If you think like a child, you will do a child's work."Welllllll, yes and no. I actually had to split the next chapter into two. You'll be getting the explanation, but not the demonstration.
What does it mean to actually have your fanfic accepted at that Official Zooptopia site mentioned earlier in this thread?
It's mostly just a way to reach a wider audience.
My fanfiction.net account, for those brave enough. It means getting your inbox flooded with new followers mainly.
So, I see Zootopia's Behind The Scene video. I kinda torn bout it.
In other hand, the original idea would be, well, spectacular.
In the other hand, I could see why the team decides to scrap the idea altogether. They want to make a Disney animation, not some Animation Age Ghetto shit.
I hate the original idea honestly. I'm glad they scrapped it.
Also, I don't think this is the right thread for that.
Power surge just erased about two hours worth of work.
This is why you save periodically.
