So I just watched the teaser and trailer.
Personally? It actually has my genuine interest. My attention was less on the animals but more on some of the characters. In particular, the Gorilla and Pig Mom's character just spoke to me so deeply.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.I can't tell if the actors are doing the singing themselves or not. I hope they are.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. Not gonna lie. This movie may have potential as long as songs sung varied from different genres and generations of music. G

I still can't get over that title. I mean, you're making a movie about a song contest, and you decide to call it... "Sing"? Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy? How many fractions of a millisecond did it take them to come up with that title?
Maybe this is the same genius who title the movie about the old man and Chinese Boy Scout who travel to some exotic land by air through placing a shit load of balloons on a house and decided to just call it Up.

This doesn't look amazing, but it could be very entertaining so I'm interested. I'm a sucker for stuff like this.
"That's a to-go order. See! It's already gone!!""Sing" is an even worse title, though. The other ones are at least somewhat catchy.
I won't disagree, but I personally think generic one word titles of common words are all terrible and not very creative.
"That's a to-go order. See! It's already gone!!"I wonder if coming out on the same year as "Zootopia" will help or hurt this movie. One one hand, everyone will compare them and no way will it be as popular. On the other, thanks to Zootopia people are remembering that animated movies about Funny Animals can be moving. (While this is obviously a comedy, it seems like it's trying to at least get the public to care about the main characters.)
I think while it'll definitely be compared relentlessly, people might look forward to it more thanks to Zootopia. If it was before Zootopia, then possibly this would've been written off as just another typical comedy CGI movie. People will be clamoring for animal movies like this now.
"That's a to-go order. See! It's already gone!!"Talking animals + America Idol + pop music
I hate movie premises that sound like it was concocted by a committee, but I also know that it doesn't necessarily mean it's gonna be a bad movie. A lot of gimmicky idea became great movies and shows I got really into, like Phineas and Ferb and Zootopia! So I'm not excited OR loathing toward this trailer, I'm just gonna sit this out unless it gets rave reviews. I mean, I LOVE stories about creative artists who try to beat the social trends and achieve success as a companion team , so who knows! In general the idea just sounds rudimentary and plastic to me. Naturally, it's from the head of Illumination's CEO.
I'm interested in the British monkey and the rocker Porcupine chick at least.
"That's a to-go order. See! It's already gone!!"And yes, for the record, I believe every character who sings is paired with an actor who can also sing and who performs as said character. The cast list revealed so far is made of mostly people who are known to sing REALLY well.

A little clip was released for the Olympics.
The best part in my opinion (as well as my favorite clip from the movie I've seen so far) is the cats singing Victorious.

"A buddy is a buddy no matter how nutty."I'm still weirded out by seeing a poster for this movie in The Secret Life of Pets. Like, do you think the pets ever got any ideas
You know what, call me what you want, I'm with Troperfrom95 on the pop songs thing. Like, couldn't they at least picked some minor hits? Or maybe write original songs for the movie? Just, I think we've had enough of talking animals covering pop songs for a century.
In all honesty, I dunno if I'm up for this one. The scene with the dancing pig is probably gonna be the best scene in the movie and I've already seen it in the trailer.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."You know, the general premise of this movie looks alright, but I kinda wish it wasn't using animals as it's main characters. I know it's more marketable and has more humor opportunities this way, but it gets kinda boring after a while. I'll still probably end up seeing it at some point though.
With Seth MacFarlane playing a character, you can expect at least one Sinatra cover in the movie. Which is at least different from what we've seen so far.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain..... you know they ARE making original songs for the movie too, right?
Are they?
Anyway this looks like it does have some sort of promise, but I'd have to hear it to really see.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.No, I don't because none of the trailers so far have showed any.
I mean, if they are writing original songs, then, you know, maybe play that up? Instead of Pandering to the Base with crap people already know?

To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."I'll say this: I saw the trailer while watching Kubo and the Two Strings, and between that and Trolls, spent most of the previews outright cringing.
He would be a kick ass narrator for the story though.
