It's also kinda funny how it's called "Legendary Defender"...but technically speaking, except for bailing the Castle out, every time it has to fight, its kinda its own fault for existing, since the villains' goal is to capture Voltron above all else, with a small village and an entire living planetoid getting caught in the crossfire.
I'm also still worried about the writing given their reasoning for deleting the king was "he had all the answers". Answers to questions no one bothers to ask all season. If he solved so much as one problem besides providing Allura emotional support in the pilot, I could buy it, but for all he does he literally could've been a pre-recorded message.
Also, uh, has anyone else wondered what Shiro and Keith's deal is? I mean, Keith's the first on the scene to rescue Shiro. There's dialogue that implies some sorta history between them (especially the amount of trust Shiro puts specifically in Keith at points, to the point of the season 2 teaser having him say he'd want Keith in charge if anything happened to him), but...no one seems to notice or care?
"If you're out here why do I miss you so much?"Nobody knows what it is. It's been confirmed that that they do have some sort of history prior to the show, and most likely next season will explain it in more detail.
I guess I'll just pass this along here.
"If you're out here why do I miss you so much?"HYPED.
Also, Keith looks like he'll finally get character development.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Definitely some pretty vistas, but I didn't see much beyond Scenery Porn to get me hyped again. The most complete action shot is something the first season already was okay on (the individual Lion battles), but the rest are way too brief to judge.
"If you're out here why do I miss you so much?"I'm going to be at NYCC Friday and Saturday and will try my damndest to attend the panel. I want to be optimistic about the second season even if my own tastes in shows differ from a lot of the fans.
Oh shit.
Are they finally doing it?
I have to admit, I wondered if they would even bother with killing Shiro or not, but the emphasis on Keith potentially taking his place, the fact that the final montage only showed four of them, and of course, the last scene of him walking off into that light while Keith yells his name makes really makes it seem like Shiro will finally join his original counterparts.
Who knows though.
One Strip! One Strip!I didn't see a release date. Anyone have any idea when this will be out?
Video is not showing for me.
‘My ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.’It's interesting. Shiro is characterized just well enough that him dying would make sense. And we all know his original version also died. So any tease on him dying could actually be a thing.
Read my stories! It just occurred to me this is the same trailer from Comi Con that was liveblogged months ago.
That said, if I recall they said the season would air before the end of the year, so I'm betting on December. They'll probably announce at the actual NYCC.
"If you're out here why do I miss you so much?"That and Allura is usually one of the pilots.
This is true. And this version of Allura is certainly worthy of being a pilot.
I gotta admit, if this is the end of Shiro's part of the story, he's likely gonna get a nice hurrah.
One Strip! One Strip! That'd be a Shame. Shiro's got a personality.
Kill Keith. No one would notice.
Or Lance. Might actually improve the show.

I like Keith and Lance. -glare-
Hey, I want to like them. Not my fault the show didn't give Keith a personality, or Lance any form of positive character traits to make up for him being a liability and danger to himself and those around him. And sort of a creeper to Princess Allura.
That may be, but you're basically writing them both off as lost causes.
And really, killing off someone that the audience doesn't really have much reason to care, at least at this stage, would be a rather lazy choice, in my opinion. Ideally, it'd be someone who'd reached the conclusion of their character arc, and thus could have death as a satisfying, if tragic, ending, and I think Shiro would fit that the best.
Of course, he doesn't necessarily need to die. Anything that would take him out of the story for at least the foreseeable future would work.

Oh God! Natural light!Shiro needs to die so the others can mature. Not to mention the inevitable Keith/Lance/Allura love triangle.
Well, this show needs a lot of things to be honest. Let's see what they do.
Not gonna lie, I think love triangles are kind of boring and unnecessary. I'd rather do something else with their relationships.

Oh God! Natural light!Agreed. If it's for a love triangle, god I hope he lives.
...Is this a love triangle when one side's just creeping on the other uninterested side?

I think Shiro has too many unresolved plot threads for him to die at this point. Killing him off outright would essentially be a case of Stuffed in the Fridge. And I suspect the death hints might be a fakeout anyway. I think it's more likely that he'll be captured or forced to undergo a Face–Heel Turn by the Galra and Allura will step up to save him.
I think it would be a catalyst to get the group to mature in a much quicker way, although the end result might vary. I think they should do it, not because I hate the character (his biggest fault is he's kinda static) but the potential for development for the others.

Well, I'm assuming a lot of his plot threads will be resolved on the path to his death (if said death happens).
We'll just have to wait and see.
Has this show appeared in Japan? I'd be interested to see what they think of the adaptation of one of their old shows.
One Strip! One Strip!I mean, if he died at the end of the season, I'd say that would be plenty of time to resolve his character stuff.
But I'd probably lean more towards "incapacitated" as well.
Oh God! Natural light!
I think it's a bit more complicated than that.
And now back on topic lest this turn to far OT. The robot itself gets talked up a lot in the show, but actions speak louder than words. And more often than not, we never see why it should be as revered as it is. Part of me wonders if that's intentional or just a fault of how the fight scenes are constructed coupled with the idea of limiting Voltron's appearances. The latter isn't a bad idea, but combined with the former makes it appear underwhelming.
Also Klance sucks.
