It was at a 1.5:1 ratio in the crowner, 2 votes to the positive...not good enough even for a normal thread. I'm curious to know why it was downvoted.

I can't speak for why it was being downvoted, but I do know that I don't particularly pay close attention to the crowner in that thread, so I wasn't upvoting it.

Crowners are such a horrible tool for discovering consensus. The number one gain to productivity would be to decide what replaces them.
