The Razzies, like the Oscars, are bullshit, just less so because it's easier to agree on what sucks then what is great. They gave Shelly Duvall a razzie for The Shining.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Fuck the razzies.
Shoo her in, Effie darling, shoo her in.Easy Easy people! We dont want this thread closed. Please calm down.

It also wasn't a big hit early on. It's only in recent years that it got a better reputation.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell? There are definitely things I could see people zeroing in on about the movie without realizing that it's still good despite those things - like how for all that it's one of Disney's better movies, it's a terrible adaptation.
I could even see them looking solely at the gargoyles and going "this is terrible!" and not looking at the whole thing. People do that sort of thing all the time.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Shelly Duvall looks like a terrified humanoid squirrel.

Your momma's so dumb she thinks oral sex means talking dirty.Yes it was, Worst Written Film Grossing Over $100 Million. Twister ended up winning that one.
She was literally tortured by Stanley Kubrick during the filming. And I don't see why insulting an actress's appearance means they deserve a Razzie.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?I literally had to look this up on Wikipedia. Yeesh, "Worst Written Film Grossing Over $100 Million"? Honestly, that's a bit harsh.
Yet Chicken Little didn't get one nomination despite it being the worst Disney Animated Canon. Did I mention I despise Chicken Little?
The feeling back in the mid-90s was that Hunchback was not a very good film; the fact that Disney took a novel for adults and made it into kiddy fluff, as well as adding comic relief that just detracted from the darkness of the film, were the main reasons why.
To quote the founder of the Razzies: "Hunchback took a classic novel and turned it into all but unrecognizable treacle, something the half dozen or so previous adaptations of Notre Dame did not find it necessary to do. As someone who respects the intentions of original authors (especially authors of classic works of literature) I find it indefensible when modern Hollywood not only bastardizes the tone and intent of a famous novel, but then has the added gall to not even credit the original author (in this case, Victor Hugo) anywhere in the film's advertising or screen credits."
(Funny - I could say the same about Andersen and The Little Mermaid...)
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."Ladies, gentlemen, and others, you know that we don't condone media threads made just to discuss (or let's be honest, bitch) about specific news items related to individual works. Find a general conversation topic pertaining to that work or to its parent company, network, or franchise.
