Needs Help: Tractor Beam

The current sacrifices clarity for the sake of being funny. Here's a straighter example◊.

I dunno, I do like the humor in the current. If we do end up replacing it, I think we need to have a funny caption...something along the lines of "The U.S.S. Enterprise...flagship of the Federation, dedicated to exploration...and providing tow service on the side."

For the record, the site the current comes from says the cartoons can be used for non-profit uses, so we're good on that aspect.

Wonder if an ad supported site counts as non-profit, I'll have to check.

Beyond that, the suggestion is a straighter example but to me it looks much more like illumination. And it lacks the humour factor of the current. So I'll give it a thumbs down.

I like current. It illustrates the trope (which is not hard to get) and is funny on the side.

Current is better for the reasons already stated.

Both images show a spacecraft projecting a cone-shaped beam of light at another. The current has a funnier spacecraft. Favor current.

Keep current.

Don't like the current one, it looks like just the headlights are turned on. It's just a lame misleading pun.

I would prefer a legit example of the trope.

I'm not terribly in favour of the current one, but it works. The suggestion doesn't work better.

Just moved it back. Also good to see that the image classifier is now gone.

The consensus on this one looks to be to keep the current, so I've tagged the page as such and added the suggestion to an Image links page. Locking up.
