so no one is going to acknowledge that the store used to be the Pokémon Center I guess
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.I wish I got the chance to go there during my childhood. Seeing the ads it would have been pretty awesome.
Unfortunately I've never been to New York. At all.
"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherI remember going there back then. They had a kiosk on the second floor where they gave away (in eggs) rare Pokémon and Pokémon with exclusive moves to people with G/S/C carts. I think that's how I got Celebi actually. They had a bunch of Pokémon dolls and figurines that I have never seen anywhere else too. Was a pretty cool store. Don't think I've ever seen anything like what they had there after they rebranded it to Nintendo World. I guess they've got rare amiibos now?
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Too bad I have no interest in the 3DS, especially since they got rid of the Game Boy Advance slot in the D Si and haven't added it back since then.
"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherI don't know what anything I said has to do with the 3DS but okay.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. The amiibos are used for 3DS games, so I assumed that the topic was heading to 3DS territory.
It's fine though.
"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherSadly, I don't really go to NYC. I go to New York every 4th of July but we go to my great Aunt's camphouse by Canada Lake.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life! Thanks for the info, burnspy.

"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherKinda makes me wish I lived closer to NYC.
I've always wanted to visit Nintendo World-now-NY ever since I first heard of it, but I've never actually gotten out and walked around NYC. note
I agree that the new name is giving me the impression they they're planning on putting up new Nintendo Worlds in places. Of course, I doubt there will be any near my neck of the woods, but one can dream.
"Lucian, don’t be afraid, we’ll make it through this."They actually don't sell rare amiibo anymore. They used to have weekly restocks of amiibo like Pit, King Dedede, etc., but that all changed when the restocks began to be countrywide. Nowadays you can spot stuff like Captain Falcon, Lucario, and Villager at NWS, but those are amiibo that have been readily available at normal retailers for months now.
Call me Willy Whistle 'cause I can't speak, baby. Something in TV Tropes really drove me crazy."NY" is in reference not to the state, but to their next console, code-named "NX" at present.

All your safe space are belong to TrumpI never went to the Nintendo World Store.
I always wanted to but it would be pointless to drive 6 hours just to go to the Nintendo store.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureTry the full 24-hour drive from Kansas. I've never been to NY, and I have no intention of ever going.
Besides, Chicago is way cooler.

It'll probably move to somewhere close to the old location, but I hope it's not too far from Nintendo NY because NWS and Times Square Toys "R" Us used to be just a few blocks away from each other.

Nintendo of America has now announced that [the Nintendo World Store in New York] is getting a revamp. It's set to close for a month on 19th January, re-opening on 19th February with a new layout that includes demo units, a 15-foot gaming screen and an enormous coin at the entrance.
[...]
When it reopens on 19th February Nintendo is promising some relaunch festivities:
The weekend of the reopening (Feb. 19-21), the newly branded Nintendo NY store will host a series of reopening activities, including giveaways (while supplies last) and appearances by costumed characters like Mario and Luigi. The store will also sell exclusive souvenirs that can only be purchased that weekend, including a limited-edition T-shirt featuring Mario or Link. Fans who want to try out some of Nintendo's latest games are in luck, as new and upcoming Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games will be available to play.
The news of the re-brand from "Nintendo World Store" to "Nintendo NY" is what has really gotten my ear. Since Nintendo is now referring to the store under city or state letters and/or names a la Hard Rock Cafe, this can only mean that Nintendo is planning to open more stores in other cities in the foreseeable future.
