With the year winding down and 2016 about to start I thought it would be a good time to check what issues or books were amazing for everyone this year. See it as your personal Comic Of The Year list. You can do a top 5, write detailed info on each entry on the list, not even number it or just post a single title etc if you want. It can even be books from other years that you read for the first time in 2015.

My list is from 1 to 12(and I might do a more detailed post later):

  1. Darth Vader
  2. Batman
  3. Grayson
  4. Monstress
  5. Midnighter
  6. The Omega Men
  7. Loki Agent of Asgard
  8. Harley Quinn(counting the main book, specials and limited series)
  9. The Angela Trilogy(Asgard's Assassin, 1602 Witch Hunter and Queen of Hel)
  10. Justice League
  11. DC Bombshells
  12. Transformers More Than Meets The Eye

What are the highlights of the year for you?

Ms. Marvel has been as wonderful as ever. It's such a great superhero comic. My favourite Marvel comic right now. There's also the utterly delightful Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, which is non-stop funny. Silver Surfer continued to be weird and wonderful. Angela has been great all year, really funny, really touching and really, really gorgeous.

Lots of books ended on high notes. Loki's finale was really clever and neat. Mighty Avengers' finale was a real tearjerker about how people come together in emergencies. And Captain Marvel's final issue was one of my favourite single issues of the year, a tearful farewell to a great supporting character.

Secret Wars had some good tie-ins. My favourite was probably Years of Future Past. Bennett did a great job capturing the tone of the original story - bleak, but with some sense of hope. Siege, of course, was awesome. Ghost Racers was really good, with some ridiculously awesome Racer designs. Carol Corps was really good. Mighty Defenders was Ewing and Davis, what's not to love, and they also did a great job on the Ultron Forever mini.

Moving away from Marvel, Wic Div! Oh man. Such a great series. The guest artists all delivered fantastic issues. #13 is another of the best single comics of the year, and I will never not be happy with any comic drawn by Stephanie Hans so the Amaterasu issue was a treat. There's also the final volume of Phonogram, which has so far been a great send-off for the characters.

Bitch Planet's been killer. It's a shame about the delays it's faced, because it's so damned good. It wears its feminism on its sleeve, and hammers readers in the face with it. And it's awesome for it. We also got two more issues of Pretty Deadly and they're amazing and make me eager for more and apparently the next issue will have a delighted butterfly and that excites me.

Heart In A Box, by Kelly Thompson and Meredith Mc Claren, was amazing. Just brilliant work by both of them, telling a story that's many heart-related terms that I can't use because I hate repeating the same puns everyone else makes about various stories. But seriously, it's a stunning comic. Speaking of Kelly Thompson, Jem & the Holograms has been delightful, as well. Yeah, Jem & the Holograms is one of the best comics of the year.

And speaking of Meredith Mc Claren, aside from her own stunning webcomic, Hinges, she also drew Hopeless Savages: Break, written by Jen Van Meter, and damn. What a fantastic return to the Hopeless Savages. Filled with great drama and a great sense of the value of family, both the one a person's born into and the one a person chooses. And, again, fantastic art by Mc Claren, who's one of my favourite artists. Basically, if you see her name on something, it's one of the best things you'll read.

I am also going to nominate Ms Marvel. It's an all-round great comic, and I really hope it gets a movie. It's going to be this board's official comic of the year, right?

I also really dug Spider-Verse. It was fun seeing almost every Spider-Person ever get together, the action was cool, Amazing Spider-Man punched Superior Spider-Man in the face, we were introduced to Spider-Gwen, Lady Spider and Spider-Man of 2099 had an entertaining relationship, and I love that Spider-Ham was a prominent, important character rather than just a background gag. I'd really like to see a few limited series in Lady Spider's universe.

Lawless was the highlight of Judge Dredd Megazine for me, and going by the letters page, everyone else. It's a space western that manages to be rollicking without being silly, with good characters and an intriguing mystery at the heart of it all.

My top choice is Multiversity, which should basically be required reading for fans of superhero comics. It makes Morrison's usual craziness more accessible than ever, while also being a collection of just straight up fun superhero adventures.

Tomasi and Gleason's Batman and Robin also had a strong finish, and Grayson #12 was probably my favorite single issue (those Dick and Damian feels).

And for new series I've been really enjoying Omega Men, Midnighter, and We Are Robin.

You're just in time. Bayble Cuber's going to watch an inkle dribble adventure from days of old on my holo-pyramid viewer.

Ms. Marvel was a brilliant modernization of the classic teenhero formula, I hope to see it continue to succeed.

Bizarro has been an adorable comic with a crisp artstyle and a story with a lot heart. The art specifically stuck out to me because it's a nice blend of modern techniques and Silver Age conventions. It's Marvel's sad attempts at "comedy" done right.

We Are Robin is a great book from DC. It's very similar to the absolute misfire of The Movement but done in a way that makes sense. The art is fast paced and kinetic and looks absolutely great (and believe me, I'll be hunting down some prints). What I love about it is that it plays well against the current Batman status quo, having Jim's Batcop having a streetgang "Robin" seems appropriate.

Saga, this year was absolutely unrelenting. The story reached so many emotional climaxes and cliffhangers it was one of the few comics that left me out of breath this year.

A few honorable mentions go out to a couple of series that launched in 2015 but only had a one or two issues: Hercules, Vision, Huck and The God Damned. And to Aquaman for continuing it's unprecedented surge in quality since the 2011 relaunch.

But the best comic, in my opinion of 2015 was Invincible. While Invincible has been my favorite comic for a while now, it's fair to say that the series has had some slumps in quality. This year was a fantastic return to form. We've seen Mark and Eve grow as people rather than heroes, especially Mark who at quite a few points made the choice to do what was better for his family rather than what was better for his conscience. It's a good twist on the Spider-Man Dilemma
