Children of the Ancients

There's a little town out in the middle of Texas called Celestia, a place few know about, let alone go to. The first thing a visitor notices is the architecture; all stone and wood, with nary a modern building to be seen. The second is the vast number of temples to various gods, of all cultures and mythologies. And then, they figure it out: the people here are all descendants of ancient gods.

Now, let me make one thing very clear: This is NOT set in the same universe as the Percy Jackson etc. novels. I know it sounds similar, but I'm doing it this way so we aren't bound by anybody's canon. With that said, here's a few things you need to know.

The town of Celestia is theoretically divided into residential districts based on pantheon. Greeks over here, Norse there, and so on and so forth. However, over the years, there's been a fair bit of mingling. Mortal parents of demigods are allowed to live here, though the realms of the gods themselves are usually off-limits. The temples are located in the south end of town, the center square features a bunch of shops as well as the school/training center, and there's a big open area for large-scale military maneuvers out on the west side. The whole thing is protected by heavy-duty concealment and protection magic, which keeps mortals well away and monsters out, though they definitely know it's there.

If a PC or GM-PC would have Ra as his/her Patron I would go with Mehen (protector of Ra), I would be somewhat of a Bodyguard for said (GM-)PC then, which is a new one for me and hence quite the interesting opportunity.

I also had a question, on 'weapon of choice', what weapons do qualify, do we have some standart technology-era from which the weps could be picked, or is it from the technology-era from the respective pantheon, or are modern weapons also allowed? Do we have some freedom regarding them or are only real weapons allowed?

• Physical Description: Dark skin and pretty delicatly build, stands at roughly 1m 47cm with white short hair and brown eyes. Aicha with Kolobanov
• Bio: Since the ancient Egypt Aicha's family protected others, once they were called Protectors, then Guardsmen, now Bodyguards, though regardless of that they always served Ra and his family, protecting them from harm. Currently Aicha fills this role. With her familiars she fights against anything that want's to harm Ra's family, as Ra himself still is protected by Mehen.

  • Personal Base: Mehen still comes to visit the family from time to time, he likes to be somewhat involved in the family but is a little hesitant to get all to involved since he knows he will outlive everyone as he has outlived all his other mortal lovers and wifes since times ancient, save for his daughter (who can't die of old age but is defiently killable for all intends and purposes).

And since she's a Demigod she doesn't really worry about taking a bullet once or twice anyways.
  • Summon Familiars: Aicha can summon her familiars at most times.

    • A Khopesch - given to her by Mehen

  • Shield - A large shield of Egyptian origin (shaped like Nubian ones though), made of the hide of a sacred Jackal and wood, its nearly as tall as Aicha herself. Given to her by Mehen. While its only a hide shield its as resistant as a shield made from steel, though of course anything that would penetrate a steel shield will also penetrate this one. Though the shield can regenerate itself over time. Looks like this, only taller
• Familiars:
  • Rommel: A small fennec, pretty bright animal, less used for fighting and more a mascot of hers.
  • Kolobanov: Siberian Tiger, a proud familiar with a strong bond to Aicha.
  • Smirnov: Bear, a wild bear, he has a big scar over his left eye. Unlike his appearance though he's pretty level-headed.
  • Earhart: Falcon especially good at aerial reconnaisance

Sergey Doesn't have to be ancient technology, but I won't allow anything more advanced than an M-1 Garand. To keep things balanced, more ancient weapons will be allowed stronger magic abilities. For instance, a gun that shoots fire-enhanced bullets won't burn as hot as a fiery sword. Sound fair?

Name: Katie Lempa

Female

13 years old

Katie is extremely petite, standing 4 foot 5 with a slender build. She has brown hair, green eyes, and wears glasses. Her usual outfit is a brown skirt with a forest green top, though she has a set of light leather armor for fighting.

Bio: Katie grew up an only child in the small town of Luverne, Minnesota. A tomboy through and through, she enjoyed playing sports and hanging out with the local boys, who came to accept her as one of their own. Several months ago, her world was turned upside down.

An old man showed up at her door claiming to be her long lost father. What's more, he was a god worshipped in ancient Finland, of all places. Katie was really tempted to call the cops, right up until he made the pea plants in the family garden grow like crazy. She believed him after that.

Actual daughter

Relationship: Fairly warm. Ukko stops by every week to check in on Katie and her mother, trying to be somewhat involved in his daughter's life.

Mortal Family: Meredith Lempa, mother.

Relationship: Excellent. Meredith was a rock for Katie growing up and even today the demigod has a soft spot for her mom, though she'll never admit it.

Powers: Weathergirl- Katie can, to an extent, control the weather. She can't turn a summer day into a full-blown blizzard, but she can cause highly localized storms and call down small lightning bolts on targets.

Plant Power- Katie can cause plants to grow at unnatural rates, though it works best on food crops.

Snake Speech- As Ukko's symbol is the snake, Katie can talk to serpents of all kinds. Make Harry Potter jokes at your peril, though; she really hates them.

Weapon of choice: a plain, black iron spear.

Magical artifacts: none.

Other: She's only been in Celestia a couple of weeks.

Okay, then. I stand corrected on Charon.

• Name: Alison Grey
• Gender: Female
• Age: 16
• Physical Description: 5'6" and slightly muscular, with brown hair and brown eyes. Her hair is shoulder length and usually held back in a ponytail. She doesn't really care much for her appearance, and will usually stick to wearing clothes that are comfortable. She's quite tan due to spending a lot of time outside.
• Bio:
  • Will was a sailor (he still is, actually). He frequently spent long periods of time at sea. One day, during a particularly bad storm, he was knocked overboard. It was there that he met Kymopoleia. At first, they sorta tolerated eachother so Will could get back to land. After that ordeal, though, they started having feelings for each other.
  • Their relationship was short and a bit volatile. It quickly disintegrated and both parties were left dissatisfied. Will will tell you, though that: "If there's one thing good that came out of it, though, it was Alison."
  • Alison lived a fairly normal life until Kymopoleia showed up one day and informed her of her heritage.

  • Control over storms and water. If she's upset, she'll sometimes cause a storm by accident.

• Other: Alison really enjoys swimming. Not because of her parents, (though the ability to breathe underwater helps) but because she genuinely enjoys it.

• Name: Kora Wilson
• Gender: Female
• Age: 13
• Physical Description: About 5'0", and at first sight is rather slim. Her small body hides surprising strength, though- her arms are surprisingly muscular due to taking a heavy interest in metalworking. Her hair is dark brown, as are her eyes. She tends to wear her hair in two pigtails.
• Bio:
  • Grew up in Southern California. She never really realized the person who visited the house and chatted with her mother every few years was a god. Nor did she realize talking to the wild foxes in the yard was anything but normal. Until one day, her mother caught her and realized that Kora's abilities were stronger than expected. As a preventative measure, her parents moved them to Celestia- even though it was comparatively weak, Kora's family had a history of being attractive to monsters the further back you went. A result of their magic powers. ('Attractive' as in 'has led to a couple family members being eaten'.)

• God description: Japanese Kami of foxes, rice, anmd fertility, among a few other things.
• Actual Son/Daughter: Let's just say she's so many generations removed that listing all the greats would be a waste of space. Given this, that she even inherited the ability she did is somewhat of a miracle.
• Relationship with godly ancestor: Surprisingly close, given how many generations separate them. Inari visits Kora on occasion, and treats her sorta like a granddaughter.

• Relationship with mortal family: Pretty close. They love her very much, though they're kind of worried about how interested she is in making weapons.
