Your first paragraph has nothing to do with anything... my point is that this image is here not because someone thought it was a good fit, but because it was a good fit for a now nonexistent article.
And your second paragraph only makes sense if the trope is "Apples are religious." Which it's not.
Does the image show apples as being tempting? In my opinion, no. Furthermore, it demonstrates the exact opposite to anyone familiar with either the work the image is from or the work the image is lampooning. Which is not a good image.
Super obvious possible example◊.
We've got someone going "hey, don't grab that" and someone else going "Nah, imma grab it, bro." Even if you don't know the biblical story, it's pretty clearly an example.

Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.I agree. The Death Note image is really bad IMO, it's got nothing at all to do with the trope. Even as merely "apple imagery" it is way off because it implies things that are actually opposed to the article body: the "God" figure is offering the apple to the "Adam" guy. Worse than nothing.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. The picture from Forbidden Fruit works best but we need to find a photo for the other trope before using the photo here.
Maybe first two panels here can be used in forbidden fruit.
Thoughts about the swap?

Not bad.
I forget, why was the witch offering her the apple?
@ Larkmarn: Ah, the way your worded your first message suggested that you were objecting to the image because of issues with the trope. With that piece of miscommunication out of the way, I'll agree that Adam and Eve would be a better illustration than Death Note, though I prefer Snow White for having more focus.
^ To poison her with a delicious piece of fruit.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"What about this?
The temptation is somewhat more clear.

I like that a lot.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Either Snow White pic works for me.
35 is good.
35 works for me.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"I'll also go with 35.
(Annoyed grunt)Hearing nothing, let's lock up.
I freely admit that there's problems with the pic not exactly fitting the trope, but there hasn't been a better suggestion come through and until something does, the symbology works well enough as an illustration.
