It did, and everyone but the writers got the message.
Though I dunno how fine I'd be with hearing "on fleek" or "selfie" instead.
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.I just figured out that Ladybug is ultimate merchandise seller. Think about it: towels, pens, sunglasses, literally anything can be iconic item from show used to defeat bad guy thanks to Lucky Charm power.
Isn't that just reinforcing stereotypes about girl animation? We shouldn't have to force accessories to sell a series. We just need to watch it for the sake of a great story.
"We be we baby!"Merchandising and cartoons are very intertwined. Toy sales being low seems to be the reason for a lot of cancellations.
Yep, Ben 10 got where it is because it series about kid wearing toy that turns him into other toys and he unlocks more toys as series go. And Sym-Bionic Titan would still be around if it had toys.
As long as they don't cheat us by making those crappy Barbie doll knock-offs.
"We be we baby!"Whoa whoa, who the hell is "us" here?
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.Fans of the show, I assume. Crappy toys or limited toys being made has screwed over a lot of shows before, since nobody is going to buy something that isn't there or that there isn't much of.
So, just watched the first part of the first episode subbed on youtube...and I'm cringing. The translation is...sub-par to say the least. Can someone pm me a link to somewhere with a better translation, or better yet a site with the official dub?(I'd prefer the latter from a legal place of course)
Done.
"We be we baby!"Eh, turns out the less than stellar grammar was only in the first part of that episode. a couple episodes in and it's completely disappeared
So far, I'm actually liking this. Sure it's standard Magical Girl fare, but the two person love square is pretty amusing
It was already funny back around 1992 when Sailor Moon was doing something similar.
Oh shit! I forgot a new episode was today! "Stormy Weather". Kind of a psudo-Winter theme story this time.
"We be we baby!"any idea when episode 14 airs?
I dunno. Check the official schedule.
"We be we baby!"Would do that if I could actually FIND an official schedule :P. All I know is that it's supposed to air Tuesdays at 7 in Korea...and the last sub was done about 2 weeks ago :P.
And no, I'm not waiting for the dub to catch up due to not having Nick, and the fact that even though the episodes are self-contained and thus can be aired out of order, the dub is STILL about 8 episodes or so behind :P
Speaking of though, I am curious: On a scale of 1-10, compared to the usual dub how does this rate?
About an 8 1/2. I love that the CGI isn't jarring or look like cheap shiny plastic like in Jimmy Neutron(but that was YEARS ago), and the fight scene in each episode looks more like they put effort into each frame, much like Pretty Cure. The villains kind of range from Totally Spies bad to Campy 90's Power Rangers bad. Same goes for the dub's writing. Who says girl like that any more?
"We be we baby!"The CGI looks great also because the budget for this series is unbelievable.
@tryrar From what I can heard at least one of first 13 (or even first 9) episodes that will air in English will be a new one called "Kung Food", but don't quote me on it. Also I don't watch much dubbed shows, so I don't know for sure. Voices are just fine, not too great, not too bad, though its nice to get a break from usual actors from American cartoons.
Wow, Hawk Moth had plan this time! Now that this was much of a plan, but that didn't stopped him from gloating about it. Sorry but Stock Footage Of Lonely Basement Dweller With Power To Make More Interesting Villains continues to suck. Though the way Akuma crawled in elevator was at least cooler then his usual "find someone moping on bench" shtick.
Stormy Weather wasn't as creative as Bubbler nor as fun as Mr Pidgeon, but she was cool. Really nice design.
I think watching slice-of-life part might be as fun as superhero part, in no small part to how well Alya and Marinnette play off each other. Though I could do with hearing less of these fairy tales.
I really like background characters in this show. First was that lady that worked for Adrien's dad, then that butler, and now this hyper energetic photograph that talked about spaghetti. He was just great.
Also: adorable fanart of girls. Made me realize Alya has awesome shoes, too!
What I want to know is how an Indonesian girl can act so black?
"We be we baby!"To be fair, she really cut down on adding "girl" to sentences, which I appreciate.

I kind of appreciate how unapologetic this show seems to be about being so tropey. It's like it knows it's silly, cliched, and kinda stupid at times, but it doesn't care. It just wants to be a fun magical girl show. Also despite the CG you can really see the anime influence come through at times.
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.Like TMNT! I wonder if This, TMNT, Alvin, and Harvey beaks will become the channel's new heavy hitters into 2016.
"We be we baby!"Saw the first couple episodes. Everything is smoothly animated, which is nice, but everything happens at too quick a pace. And so far nothing is explained. It's like they didn't want to slow things down with exposition so they went too far in the opposite direction.
Imma give this a few more episodes.
