I'd want Hawkmoth to try and send an Akuma after Adrien or Marinette, only to have them shake it off once they realize that Hawkmoth is directly talking to them.

As a sidenote, can Monsieur Butterfly actually see everything that goes on in Paris through his little room, or does he have some weird empathy ability to detect negative emotions?

Senses negative emotions.

[up][up]That's an interesting way to ship them.

I've been wondering the same exact thing, like seriously dude, where are you watching everyone? Also what is your fixation with watching the lives of middle school kids?

He only needs to know which school Choe goes to.

Hawkmoth has obviously been taught by the great pedobear on observing subjects.

Now that you mention that, not a single akuma targeted adult woman. That's ageist, dude.

And yes, Volpina episode makes it especially painfully clear that somehow knows enough context to make promises to his minions, but he's not actually watching them, otherwise he would notice I dunno kwami talking to Marinette and grabbing his book, perhaps? Even if he just read their minds he would know about the book.

He seems to be able to sense the cause of the negative emotions like how the Sorceror can 'smell' it.

Maybe the emotions of kids/teenagers and men are easier to sense than women? Like, they are more open about their (negative) emotions? Also: school filled with teenagers equals emotional turmoil. Stress from school, stress with peers and then there are people like Chloe; if I were a villain like Hawkmoth I'd keep an eye on high schools in case I need some extra cannon-fodder. And suddenly it makes an awful lot of sense as to why Gabriel was so against sending Adrien to a normal school. Just to be sure that Adrien won't get hurt when one of his minions goes AWOL. It happened once and it's shown that he sometimes loses his (literal force choke) grip on them.

Y'know, assuming Adrien's dad is Hawkmoth, it would be really unlikely for him to try and Evilize Adrien. Though you could get an interesting(/amusing) series of events where he goes after Chat instead. Like Adrien gets pissed about something, Hawkmoth is like "Hmm, who's upset today? ... Nah, not him.", Adrien transforms into Chat for something while still upset, Hawkmoth is like "ah, yes, this catboy who looks like my son and who's upset over the exact same thing will do". :P

I agree with ya, no way he's gonna akuma-tize his own son unless he's super desperate or something. Marinette on the other hand...

Like there was an episode where actually I thought Hawkmoth was gonna akumatize Marinette. I don't remember which one, but he ended up going with someone else. So it makes me wonder if he was considering it, but was like "Oh wait, this person is much worse, I'll use them instead."

There was an episode that started with Marinette being grounded for missing class so much (because of Ladybug Duties) and the Akuma music actually started playing as she slumped up to her room but nothing happened.

[up][up][up] Now I want this to happen.

Speaking of, it's funny to imagine that every time Adrien's class is attacked, Hawk Moth is like "Good, my son is nowhere in sight. Smart boy knows how to avoid danger. Now, Timebreaker! Destroy Cat Noir! (Miraculous first, though)"

EDIT: BTW About Volpina the same people who were making all these Mary Sue theories about her refuse to give up and now say "Oh, maybe she's lying because she was bullied back home" and no, just no. Let people be people. I can stand redemption theories but this is too much.

[up][up]Yeah that was the episode, I mean Hawkmoth appeared right after Marinette's parents told her she had to stay home and she got upset about it. Then he went with the magician instead.

[up]I keep hearing people say, "Lila's just lying because she wants to be liked and make friends." Okay I can see how that might be true, but some are acting like it's canon when we don't know exactly why she lied to everyone. And even if it is true, that doesn't mean she's a good person on the inside. Lila could still be a complete brat under the surface.

What amuses me is how many people still want to ship Volpina/Ladybug, to the point that the new fanon is that Lila is going to be a reverse Chloe and adore Marinette. Can't help but notice that the people rooting for this almost always write out her crush on Adrien.

(Incidentally, what is the spoiler policy for this thread with regard to the different dubs?)

[up] I assume its similar as when ealing of localize Manga with anime adaption on Crunchy rolls (Stature of Limitation is when the dubbed/subbed episode in question is free on chrunchyroll or rather streaming services). Since the English dub isn't as far as the Korean dub, I assume the stature of limitations is then the english dub gets to this episoe

[up]Eh, I think it's depends more on the French dubbed episodes than Korean and English.

[up] It's rather complicated, but he user above that post was asking about how to handle spoilers with shows with different dubs. Its clear that anything that just aired in France would be major spoilers, but the issues come wens the same episodes airs in Korea, which is still a little farther on the time then English (plus certain Out of Order cases).

I guess this could be simplifies by saying if its not in English. its a spoiler

I've no idea what's happening with Volpina, but I love the idea of a Miraculous user who's a rival to Ladybug but infatuated with Marinette. Just make everything even more complicated.

[up][up]I'm aware of that, but the person that asked about spoilers was asking what's okay to post and discuss with or without a spoiler tag on this thread itself.

[up] Oh, well in that case...I;m clearly not qualified to answer that, but there has been a lot of unmarked spoilers here an on the various subpages

Yeah I haven't been through a ton of the pages on this thread so I'm not entirely sure myself, I've just been going by the newest episode of the French dubs sine they have the most episodes out.

Edit: I just saw a confession saying "I feel like people won't accept any ships that fall outside outside of the love square." I don't see how that's a problem, it's the main reason people watch the show anyways. It's nice to be in a fandom without any ship warring for once.

I kind of hate that 90% of fic to read is from the love-square-that-isn't-really. Would it kill someone to write up some Ivan/Mylene? There's no love for the pudgy smol rainbow and her beefy tol cinnamon roll.

[up] 90% of anything this fandom produces is love square. Like, where is my supervillain fanart, huh?

diyedas Since: Feb, 2010

Really? I see Hawkmoth fanart all the time, although most of it is funny art. Unless you're talking about the Akuma villains with which I totally agree since they got some cool designs.

[up][up]I dunno, we don't know a ton about Ivan and Mylene for people to write about them or draw anything. Then again, this is the same fandom that created wholes stories about a fox girl we only saw in concept art.
