GameFAQs "Best. Game. Ever." contest.

For the 3rd time ever, Game FA Qs is holding a ""Best. Game. Ever." contest.

It works like the Character Battles context they have, only with games. Earn points by correctly predicting the winners of each match, and win the whole thing by having the most points left.

If it's anything like the character battles, it'll just be a popularity contest.

"Best X" is, by definition, a popularity contest.

Of course it is. That's what all of these are.

I'm trying to think of a way the character battles are supposed to be anything other than a popularity contest.

Everything will be Zelda and Final Fantasy related. Don't bother, people.

Upsets might happen. And what happens once Zelda and FF collide?

*breathes in* Undertale vs Mass Effect 3...

edit: Down the bracket I made FFVII win, eventually beating out Undertale and GTAV.

No way I'm ever gonna bother with those contests on Game FA Qs. The "fans" from that site have a nasty habit into turning what should be a simple and straightfoward popularity contest into an ugly pissing match, and frequently attempt to promote old school Nintendo or late 80s / early to mid 90s era games as the best games ever made.

Don't believe me? Try mentioning anything positive about Call of Duty, Halo, or Grand Theft Auto, and argue that it should be near the top. Be ready for the ensuing shitstorm you'll create...

I might have some curiosity, but if temper tantrums start getting thrown because gamefaqs doesn't consider the leading title to be acceptable, I'm out.

Well, I will just peacefully create my own bracket of my opinions who should win, and don't bother shilling any games or watch the fireworks. <3

I don't personally see Untertale getting that far. Maybe it could beat Mass Effect 3 but that's it.

I don't know, it's the internet's current Favorite Game Ever. It might just make it.

Why is Undertale even on the bracket?

Nothing that has only been available for a matter of weeks should be considered the best anything ever. That needs time to coalesce.

Like, it would actually be embarrassing if a site declared Undertale the best game ever and then it was dead in six months.

Bracket entries are decided by how many people put it on their personal Top Ten lists about a week ago.

Are they also doing future releases or is it restricted to games already released?

How on Earth would one judge the quality of an unreleased game? This is not the "Best Hype Ever" contest.

There should be a best hype ever contest!

Oh, Gamefaqs. The site that ravages Nintendo at any opportunity it gets, yet always has either Zelda or Final Fantasy characters as the winners of the character battles? Yeah, I don't trust them with anything.

Curiously enough, Undertale is in the running for this one.
I'm going to be pushing for either Metroid Prime or Super Metroid the entire way, though. Y'all best get voting yourselves!
