There were problems that were more important than his issues, he was sure of that. Still, Arcade couldn't answer Eve honestly, so he simply deadpanned, "I'll just keep busy until every problem is resolved. Who needs free time?"
He caught the radio and nodded back, feeling slightly at ease knowing they'd at least be able to communicate. He checked the channel it was on and put it in his pocket. "Be safe out there, alright?" he fussed, gently.

Chise did her best to ignore the situation and asked Rex if he had seen Eve. Well, he had seen her alright, it's just that they didn't have a meaningful conversation.
"I saw her. She said she wanted to apologize but I... got busy"
Meanwhile, Silanea wasn't that happy after having literally lost the key her happiness and flip-flopped between being tremendously sad to wanting to attack Rex. Eventually, she just ended up begging Rex to promise that he would actually complete the challenge before it was too late and simply started crying.
"Oh come on, don't cry" Rex sighed and looked at Silanea's face. And immediately regretted doing so because she was actually convincing him to complete the challenge right then and there "Fine, but if we're going to do this now, we need to get inside" he grabbed her hand and pulled her towards the door. He also did the same with Chise, since leaving someone without powers alone outside the building-tree wasn't a smart move "Come on, you too. It's not safe outside"
It was clear that Chise probably didn't even know what was going on so Rex decided to at least explain her the basics while they entered the lobby.
"Remember the challenge I mentioned? I'm kinda helping Silanea with something like that right now. It's for her family"

Eve nodded, still somewhat concerned for Arcade, but glad she had given him a radio. "Of course." Getting up, she waved a goodbye and smiled as she left, inwardly brainstorming people who might hate the City Knights.
That was a lot of people.
She went into the lobby and oh dear, there was Rex. And Chise. Well, now was as good a time as any. "Rex?" She called over to him, voice somewhat hesitant.

Well, the situation with Arcade seemed to have been handed off to Eve, whom Lucas assumed was the mentioned confidant. Nothing Lucas could do as of now for him, as much as he wanted to. He hoped for the best as Chise and Elias also walked off to other places. Of course, Lucas was still waiting for the previously eaten fruit to settle, so he remained in place rather than exhaust what energy he had right away helping people.
By the time Rex walked into the hospital, Lucas felt safe to take another fruit, though he wasn't sure if he would have been fine being quicker about it, not that it mattered since it wouldn't have been a good time for a snack when he was dealing with the emotional wreck. Whether he took longer than necessary to wait or not, he was eating a second one as he walked over to Rex. The mention of a challenge intrigued Lucas, so he wanted to ask about it. Intruding into his conversation in a way that would seem quite rude if it wasn't what literally everyone in this city did, Lucas asked "Excuse me, I overheard you saying you were doing a challenge. Would you mind telling me about it?"

Once again, Miss Tairee went silent for a moment. "... You sure have a thing for the hard questions, don't you?" Miss Tairee muttered, then sighed slightly and shook her head. "But that doesn't mean you don't deserve an answer; especially considering the business with Sawyer" the librarian continued, then looked at Cole.
"Strictly speaking, no. Not 'never', and not for everyone at least. A few select people here are from the same universe as another, or the same universal hub, and might see each other again. A good number of those here could utilize the bleeding effect to indirectly see at least some of you again; but when it comes to face to face directly interacting with each other, no most of you will never see each other again" Miss Tairee explained, her tone getting apologetic. "And that includes you and Sawyer; I'm sorry Cole. Though she will be able to see a representation of you through the bleeding effect" Miss Tairee added.
"... Say, would you like to see it? Your universe's bleeding effect?" Miss Tairee then offered after a moment of thought. "I could show you what Sawyer would be able to find. And as long as you're here in the city, I could show you the bleeding effect for her universe too" the librarian elaborated.
"My muggle device wasn't working right. I stopped bothering" Thomas muttered, glancing down vaguely towards his side where the occasional electronic spatter of noise trying to be the transmissions coming over the channel were coming from under his robes. "I've been... Helping people against these big, lizard and bird things" the young wizard continued, looking at Cybersaur and giving a slow, weary blink before adding, "I'm sorry to hear, you got involved in more drama."
"Burn, slash, and pierce? Doesn't sound like anything my team can't handle" Louie's voice mentioned over the channel. After Eve's suggestion, there was a short pause. "... Uh, right. Good idea" the trainer's voice then added, having a clear 'well now I feel dumb' tone to it.
"Alright, let's go then" Blue said with a smile, and headed out into the jungle once again to look for the hotel.
Silanea didn't put up any effort against being pulled along, but didn't seem in any hurry to move either, and had her tail drag trailing behind them. "I-I'm sorry I didn't mean..." Silanea muttered, then took an obviously considerable amount of effort to stifle her crying and try to regain composure. "Wh-what, did you need me to do?" she then asked Rex, still sniffling.
After a quick glance around, Fastanook followed them inside, still looking confused in general about the situation, but remaining silent for now.

"I'm no doctor, no, we only make medicine," I told the owner as we made our way downstairs to this pharmarcy that restocked by itself, reminding me of what I had read in the pamphlet from earlier, "What types of medicine are available here? How big is this pharmarcy?"
It was interesting to think of the kind of medicine that we could find in this place now that I thought about it. Perhaps I could even find some new types that I could try replicating back at home, after all, expanding the selection never hurt.
All of sudden the snake lady began crying and I was honestly taken aback by it. Eventually Rex decided to just bring everyone inside, grabbing my hand and leading me to the door even though it was entirely unnecessary for him to do. I didn't really mind it, but I had to wonder why he felt like he needed to take me by the hand. Once inside, he started telling me what was going on.
"I heard something about fighting a monster, is that the longer challenge you accepted in exchange for letting us call our homes?" I asked him, still feeling a little lost.
Then Eve showed up. According to Rex she had wanted to apologize, but likely didn't get to because of what was going on outside. All in all this was her and Rex's business and I had no reason to get further involved in it that I had already gotten, so it was better to let them talk about it.
"Hi, Eve... Is the doctor feeling better now?" I asked her, still feeling a little responsible for what had happened earlier.

Jack hadn't expected the little flying robot to talk, and looked at it in surprise. He wasn't quite sure how a blindfold could do all of that, or even what some of that was, but it seemed complicated. It seemed that Tairee had a better idea of how the blindfold might have worked, and it was all starting to go over his head a little bit. He looked back at 9S. 'Wow, that's... neat. So what do you, you know, do?"
Arcade forced a smile as Eve left; he didn't want to distract her from more important matters. He followed her out after a few seconds of thought. He stayed back as Rex reentered, becoming slightly annoyed as Chise brought up his breakdown earlier, as if that was something everyone should know about.

I just want to help!
Cole tilted his head to one side for a moment, looking across the library, as though to take in what she was saying to him. He didn't answer for a bit, thinking it all over, before looking back up at her.
"No. I...I don't know if seeing that is...is something I want to do. I...I don't know...I don't know if I should...know those things, not..."
He trailed off, quieting down somewhat. "...I like it here, Miss Tairee. It's...better here, than home. And...now that I know what there will be when I go back...that all of this will be gone...I don't...I don't know if I even want to go back."
Another pause, before Cole looked up at her. "I...I haven't been very honest with everyone else here...about back home. But after seeing what happened for Sans...I don't think I should be, either. But...my world..." He went quiet again, looking down, fidgeting at his hands a little. "You...I don't know how much you know, but...my world...it's...it's going to die. Soon, I think. M-maybe within the life of me and my friends. And there's...there's a lot of ways that it could happen...each one is more terrible than the last."
Cole let out a soft breath. "I...S-Sans got his world back, and that is good...but...I think...I think I would be lying if I said I wasn't...a little...envious..."
"I was going to suggest we wait until the day before the next break so Silanea's people don't have to go too long before she got a chance to tell them what's going on. But if we're going to do it today, maybe we should move to the library before looking into that door? The Writer said we should have five people, so it'd probably be easier to get three more people to gather there than here. And it's the safest place in the city, unless the door doesn't work there for some reason" Curly told Rex and Silanea as she followed them into the hospital. "Haven't figured out who else should come though..."

Cybersaur frowned a little and nodded. "Good to hear you're protecting people. But you're hurt. We gotta get you patched up. I can carry you to the hospital," he explained, jumping and with a few whirring beeps, flipped into his dinosaur altmode. He then tapped his head.
"Tennyson here," Cybersaur said into his comm to the City Knights' channel. "I found Thomas. His walkie talkie's busted and he's looking pretty beat up. I'm gonna get him to the hospital and then I'll keep searching for the culprit." He then looked down towards Thomas.
"Some dweeb is pretending to be me and hurting a bunch of people. They already, uh... took out a bunch of the Writer worshippers," he clarified. "But I'll find him!"
I can still hail the Horde even though the company has shamed us. Strength and Honor even if Blizzard has neither.
Curly had a semblance of a plan. She wanted to warn Silanea's people about a possible invasion so they had time to move but Silanea's state made it clear they didn't have much time before she broke and tried to finish the challenge by herself. The second part was a bit more interesting, though. The library was the safest place in the city so getting everyone there should take care of protecting Silanea's body while they were busy... doing whatever they were going to do. Rex for his part, had an idea of how to physically get everyone there without a problem. Elias was a teleporter after all, and he would no doubt help someone in need after what he did at the grocery store.
"I'm working on it, Elias can get us to the library"
Silanea was still a bit affected by the idea of seeing her family again but still wanted to see if there was any way she could be of help.
"Just take five. There is a guy here that can help. And stop crying, ok? This is a good thing!" Rex told Silanea as he guided her to a chair. Wait, she didn't have legs "Uh... just stay here with Fastanook. I bet you guys have a lot to talk about"
Meanwhile, Chise was still a bit confused about the whole thing and tried to link Silanea's challenge to the one that let them call back home.
"No, that's... that's different" With Lucas wanting to know the same, there was no reason in hiding it now. Plus, the kid had already helped in his fair share of battles so he could potentially help here too "I'm trying to bring back her people. We're going to... enter her mind I think and... do something. Do you wanna join?"
And wouldn't you believe it, Eve was there in the lobby. Chise wanted to know how 'the doctor' was doing but nevermind that, Eve had screwed up big time and seemed genuinely sorry about it. Rex was going to milk that for all its worth.
"I remember hearing something about an apology?" he said, putting of his hands around his ear.

Near Hospital Tree
Nearly as soon as they arrived, Eve went off and found Arcade. The two seemed to be sharing a moment, so she gathered it was best to leave them be. There was another, larger group, which included Rex and Silanea, but it seemed that the latter was having it rather rough again and something really strange appeared to be going on, so she was not sure about going there either. She probably should leave to try to find Thomas soon, but at the same time, Eve didn't seem to have gotten the chance to quite speak with Rex yet and she felt like she should be there for her when it happened, so maybe she should stick around a little more.
Eventually, Ben's voice sounded off on the channel, asking for a update on everyone's positions, so Caro then said, [AC:I'm around the hospital as well. Couldn't do much about finding Thomas yet either,"] Ben then revealed that someone was trying to frame him for a lot of killings by apparently making it seem like some of his alien forms had been used for it. Since this was supposedly someone also capable of changing forms, she was not sure of how to go about looking for them, aside from catching them in one of such forms while commiting another act that would uncharacteristic of Ben. Louie did have a valid concern and aside from copying Ben again, who knew if this criminal wouldn't target and copy more of them, making it rather hard to know who to trust. [AC:"We probably should each try to think of things only we could possibly know about each other and use it as a test. In anycase, I will regroup with Eve and then you can be sure that we will do our best to catch them."]
She then wandered into the hospital, thankfully quickly finding Eve in the lobby. It seemed that the other girl had caught another chance to speak to Rex, so for now, she walked up until she was next to her and waited to see how this would go.

Lagann's mouth went wide in a smile. Baby T liked him. "A friend huh? Just like me and Boota..." said Simon to himself. Lagann would start to rub and pet all across T's head. On top of the head, under the chin, back behind the head. The full petting treatment. Simon was busy with giving the pets and he didn't give much thought of Digger walking over to him, only offering the only free Lagann hand available to her.
Gurren pointed onwards and Kamina said "Let's follow him Simon!" and then Gurren ran off after the departing figure.

Dark Sun, what choices have I...?
You know, it was a very sturdy rock. It took one or two more hits than I expected to break the fucking thing into pieces, but it went down fast enough in the end. It was cathartic, to see the hunk of mineral begin to come apart, piece by piece, into smaller but still sizable chunks.
But not cathartic enough.
I started kicking one of the pieces around in turn, sending it into the trunk of a tree where it got stuck. And then another one that got lost in the vegetation somewhere. And a third that hit the base of a different tree, and so on until all of them had been displaced in some direction or another, leaving me glaring angrily at where the rock used to be.
What was Ben still doing here?
I was barely listening enough to know that his friend had shown up and was hurt and what the fuck it's not like I'd ever need that gel the new guy brought anyway so I might as well jump on the excuse to throw something. I only looked back long enough to register Ben putting the small fire out and chuck the gel in Thomas's general direction before glaring at the floor in front of me again.

Oh, for the sake of all that's good and legal, couldn't Rex be humble just this once?! This was hard enough without him milking it. Eve noted the presences of Arcade and Caro behind her, and gave a small nod in response to Chise's question. It was a lie, since she was pretty sure Arcade was faking that last smile as they left, but if Arcade wanted to keep it secret, that was his choice. Who was she to criticise someone keeping a secret?
Anyway, back to apologies. As hard as this was going to be, she had to do it. "Yes, you did. I'm sorry about what happened at the library." She looked down at her hands. There were faint crescent shaped scars which were healing readily. "I was on edge, and I took it out on you. So I apologise. What I said was horrible." She looked up, clearly waiting for a reaction before continuing. "Though really, library with all the books ever written at your fingertips. Worst-case scenario is that you have the same information you have now. None. Just saying." The last bit was said in a sincere yet slightly teasing tone.

"Hmm. That's not exactly the kind of help we're looking for" Dave admitted to Elias. When asked about the pharmacy, Dave swept an arm out just a little dramatically. "Oh it's pretty extensive. Seems to be based around a number of different universes and races, so the selection's wider than I've ever seen" the doctor explained.
"... Now if I could just find the flippin' thing today" Dave added with some frustration as he got down to the bottom of the hollow center and started checking side rooms.
Meanwhile, now in the same room, Silanea coiled up her tail beneath her to idle, still occasionally sniffling, and glanced down at Fastanook with a slightly confused expression. Fastanook seemed equally confused. "A lot to talk about?" Fastanook muttered, glancing at Silanea and adding simply, "I can't think of a single thing we have in common."
"... We can both talk?" Silanea suggested quietly after a moment of thought.
Fastanook blinked a couple times. "Okay, that's one. I guess, we're both alive?" Fastanook responded.
"... We both have, a head, and two arms? And two eyes, one nose, and one mouth?" Silanea continued hesitantly.
"Yeah, and two ears. Clearly we'll be good friends in no time" Fastanook said, obviously as some kind of joke, though it wasn't clear if he intended that as a 'we will not be friends' sarcastic remark. Silanea seemed to take that as a cue to stop though, and glanced away with a slightly sad frown.
Miss Tairee looked at Cole with a fairly neutral expression. "Better here, than your home? Well, perhaps here in this library specifically I'll grant you. But the city as a whole? I don't think so, Cole" Miss Tairee responded, shaking her head slightly. "I've seen a lot of the multiverse, Cole; universes do not die or end easily. Besides, yours wouldn't be the first that's faced seemingly unavoidable doom and came out alright, and it won't be the last either" the librarian continued.
Miss Tairee glanced at the book she'd placed down on the coffee table, and motioned at it with a nod of her head. "Think about what you've learned about my universe so far, Cole. Even where we stopped for now, James Raynor has already learned about multiple things that seemed to spell the end of mankind, or at least the end of mankind living free. The Protoss scouring planets. The Zerg devouring all in their path. Mengsk seizing power from the corrupt, only to then use it for his own corrupt ends. And we're not even through it all yet" Miss Tairee mentioned at length, and turned back to Cole with an intent look. "But none of that made him give up. And make no mistake, Cole; James Raynor was not some mythical born man fated to change destiny. He wasn't even a psychic. He was skilled man, and a good leader, but he was still just a man. A man who made a promise to his late wife that he'd stand up for what he believed in; and when he did stand up alongside the allies he'd made, he helped change the course of the universe" the librarian explained, then glanced off at nothing in particular as she recalled something specific.
"I hear ya, Tychus. But if I was bankin' everything on that I'd be quit already. 'Cause here we are in the mouth of hell, an' we made it this far by leanin' on each other... That thing may be the key to stopping the Queen of Blades - but it's our sweat and blood that will make it happen. After everything we've been through, past all the fire and fury... The one thing I know - is that we can count on each other to get the job done. Or die trying, if that's what it takes... Because some things are just worth fighting for" Miss Tairee quoted, then looked back down at Cole. "Take it from me, Cole. As long as there are honest people with free will in your universe, then its doom is not yet certain. And if there's a chance, no matter how small, then those people will go for it; and even if you don't help them, Cole, you at least owe it to them not to get in their way" the librarian told him, her tone certain.
"I understand why you feel envious of Sans. But instead of distracting yourself with the envy of what others have, you should put your energy towards standing up for what you do have. You speak like you're so certain that the end will come, but you don't know what the future brings, Cole. And would you really rather roll over and give up, letting the bad future come? Or would you rather fight, for a shot at a better tomorrow?" Miss Tairee asked Cole, her gaze still friendly- almost motherly, even- but also adamant and a bit judging; like a mom asking firmly for a report card.
"Yeah I, heard some of your yelling" Thomas muttered, giving a simple nod. "But why did it sound like, you were throwing a tantrum at that guy?" the young wizard then asked, motioning towards Lewis as he stepped over and carefully tried to climb up onto Cybersaur's back. As Thomas got close, and especially as he started to touch Cybersaur, Cybersaur would feel an odd tingling and slight numbness in his body, seemingly radiating from Thomas. His connection to the radio channel might start getting a little bit choppy too. Thomas then nearly stumbled back as he caught the container of gel from Lewis.
"Um, thank you? What is this?" Thomas said, looking down at the container with slight confusion.
"You found Thomas? I hope he'll be okay" Louie's voice said over the radio channel. "Should I regroup with you guys at the hospital too? Or keep patrolling this snowy area?" the trainer's voice then asked.
After Caro's point, he went silent for a bit. "Uh, well... I don't really know any of you guys that well, to be honest. Thomas is the only one I've really talked with more than like, a bit" Louie's voice mentioned, a bit awkwardly.

Rex explained thins a bit more and apparently this was another, separate challenge which had the goal of bringing the snake lady's people back. It involved having to go inside her head, which was what the door was for, presumably. I was no stranger to going into other people's heads myself, even if it happened mostly by accident so this whole thing was somewhat familiar territory to me. Still, the fact that this was another challenge was a little concerning.
"You're being a little too eager to accept all those challenges, Rex..." I commented to him, a little concerned considering how the last challenge ended up leaving him rather distraught.
One of the girls from back at the grove then commented that doing this challenge in the library would be ideal since it's a safe area and Rex even suggested having Elias bring us over there. It was a solid idea, but I had to wonder if Elias would cooperate with it, seeing how we still hadn't finished our business here at the hospital...
Then Eve began apologizing. She seemed sincere enough, but she still couldn't help herself but talk about the whole thing of Rex looking up answers at the library. That was unnecessary, but I kept my thoughts for myself. I then noticed Elias coming down with someone, had he found who he was looking for?
He seemed to be struggling to find this pharmarcy, did it also change locations around the building? That sounded really inconvenient. According to him, it had medicine from many different worlds in it, making me even more interested in taking a look at what it had to offer.
"Do you have no one responsible to handle the pharmarcy? Having to come down every time you need something seems like a problem in the case of an emergency."
Glancing around, I noticed Chise standing among a crowd of people. She was holding hands with Rex and they seemed to be discussing something among each other. I wasn't going to intervene right now, even though Chise was going to be possibly working here as well, it wasn't really necessary for her to come over. But looking at her with Rex did... bother me a little.
I distracted myself from it by focusing my attention on Dave and the topic at hand.

Yeah. that sounded like something Lucas wanted to help with. Besides, though he would prefer to not die, it wasn't like a failure would be the end of him. The nature of this city made all risks much less risky. He would help, there was just one thing he needed to do.
He said to Rex "OK, I think I'll be able to help. But, if we're doing this in the library, I want to tell Ciri and Yoshika what I'm doing. I came here with them so it would be kind of rude to just leave without saying anything. Just give me a minute."
And with that, Lucas ran upstairs to find them, completely missing the part where Eve apologized. It wasn't the first door he tried, but he was lucky enough to find it fairly quickly. They didn't look like they had just gone through a complete waste of time, at least, so that was a good sign for how things were going. He asked them all "So, how did things go? Also, um, I kind of volunteered to help Rex out with a challenge at the library, so I just wanted to let you all know that I'm leaving. I'll try to meet up with you again afterwards.

Rex noticed he was still holding Chise's hands and promptly let go of her, since doing that in front of his 'dad' was a bit awkward. As he did that, Chise pointed out that Rex was very quick to accepting challenges, something that even the Writer had already mentioned in surprise.
"I'm just trying to help"
Eve started apologizing. It was clear she was actually feeling like shit, which was nice after how she had hurt Rex. Not that he was going to admit it thanks to his coping mechanism. Besides, the important part was knowing where Eve's anger was coming from.
"Yeah, that was pretty mean. But I just want to know what made you so... bitter"
And then she just had to mention Rex could find out about his past by simply looking for it in the library.
"Really, you have to bring that up again? What if the info's fake?" he looked at the floor "I don't want to get my hopes up for nothing. And I'm not sure if I want to remember right now"
Ciri - The Alleged Hospital Optometry Room
"We're making progress, but are you already moving on? When was the last time you ate?" Ciri asked Lucas. "With how hungry Yoshika seemed to be earlier, I thought we could gather up some firewood and prepare a breakfast before carrying on with the day. So far things have been rather peaceful, but there's no telling when we'll be able to stop later." She held up the dressed raptor, giving it a gentle shake to make it slightly jiggle. "By my guess it should be at least a dozen pounds of flesh, if you'd like to invite Rex to join us before this 'challenge'."She glanced at Yoshika. "We can go look for firewood now, and I think I saw a clearing outside. A proper roast needs a proper fire."
"You're more than welcome to join us as well, sir knight, after all your help," she added to Plague Knight.
Arcade was slightly relieved to see Eve keeping details to a minimum. He didn't want pity, and he certainly didn't want to explain the Enclave to any curious well-wishers. The distance didn't matter; the Enclave was evil, and his connection was something very few people would tolerate.
When Eve apologized for something, Arcade tried to figure out what it was. She'd said something hurtful, something about information? Whatever that was about, he felt bad for not being there. Maybe if he was there to distract from whatever was putting her on edge, it wouldn't have happened.
Still, he resolved to help improve her apologizing skills. Half of it was pretty good, but he could tell that she was continuing to bring up whatever the fight was about. Not ideal when trying to apologize. He had promised to help her communicate better anyway.

"Take care of it, okay?" I told Simon, though it didn't look like he was paying attention. "I've had this pack since forever, I don't need it ripping out on the bottom."
With my hands and my shoulders free from the burden of carrying a sack of food that weighed about as much as me, I jogged over to Blue's side. "So once we get back, is there anything else I need to do? Clean some stuff up or something?"
