Jasley is alway an A-grade jerkass, and he only got worse with every episode recently. Thankfully it look like the next episode will be the last time we have to tolerate him.

Rustal give Idiok mild "you fucked up" note. Dammit, it isn't as epic as I thought, although it does look like it will escalate soon. Although it would be funny if this make Iok tell Jasley "Sorry I'm grounded" in next episode.

Ok, Akihiro's cluelessness lift up the mood slighly, thankfully both Casanova Wannabe are nearby and set him in right direction.

Mika and Atra's conversation about making baby make me chuckle. Damn, he's so clueless that it actually work. Like pulling pick-up line (ok, more than that) without even aware of it.

...and damn, why it doesn't end at that point? All of that are overshadowed by Laster's death. So instead of a breather episode, we get the upcoming battle build up instantly. Guess we're going to see Barbatos Rex being true monster, Mika even ask permission to unleash everything first.

All of that are overshadowed by the next scene. So instead of a breather episode, we get the upcoming battle build up instantly. Mika even ask permission to unleash everything from Orga first.

Well FTR, Orga could not make a move on his own, moreso warn McMurdo about the matter, as they were all reeling in from the fall of the Turbines.

With what happened to Lafter, though... I'd say Jasley gave the entirety of Tekkadan the justification they needed to bring the fight to them. Which kinda explained why he contacted IdIOK again.

Also, has anyone confirmed Naze and Amida's fates yet? Looks like that Id IOK took the Hammerhead and the red Hyakuren with him back to Gjallarhorn, the bahstud...

Jasley's attempts to be manipulative would be amusing if they weren't getting people killed. The whole "sociopath that doesn't realize he's incompetent" thing kind of reminds me of Gihren

Given Amida's machine was torn up and it look like she was impaled she probably would have died of blood and oxygen loss. The bridge of the Hammerheard was pierced and venting atmosphere so even if Naze survived the explosion of the two ships he was losing oxygen fast if not all of it already.

Even if they somehow survived; Iok probably would have had them double tapped anyway.

Oh boy. This anime isn't going to be letting up anytime soon.

  • So all those heavily telegraphed deaths were leading up to this brutal and completely unexpected death.
  • Iok took Amida's Hyakuren. I wonder if that means that he'll be piloting it next time we see him.
  • That scene with Mika and the baby was :(
  • And that scene with Mika and Atra and the idea of babies was... yeah... what...
  • Looks like Jasley is going to the next to face Akihiro's big ass scissors.

[up][up] i just wish they'd publish one of those character charts where they'd show in black and white who among the cast already died.

Atra putting on the moves. Mika putting on the moves. It's probably a bad idea for them to do it, but considering what else happened maybe Atra should do something sooner rather than later. Akihiro/Lafter was always the cutest pair in the show. The big goof really didn't know how to handle any of this. Lafter wasn't sure what she wanted to do with him, but maybe something could happen once they were older and everything settled down. But that would be a happy ending, and we can't have that. Definitely not happy with how Lafter was killed. Jalsey and Iok continue to poke the beast. Tekkadan has little reason to trust Teiwaz now, so their lot is thrown in with McGillis. No way that can go wrong. Looking forward to Akihiro rampage 2.0.

So yeah this late in the stage, there really are no breather episodes. That death was both cruel and needless. The impending Civil War aside, what really got me the most was Orga's conversation with McGillis because that gives me red flags everywhere. Gilly telling Orga that he'll never betray him. Bullshit man, he's who I'm most nervous about concerning Tekkadan.

why it had to be Lafter of all people?

Pedochar has never even once betrayed anyone, Orga.

Well, IntOrga has finally given Punished Mika the order to SEARCH AND DESTROY, and Space Guts is prepared to RIP AND TEAR. As much as I can't wait to see Jasley and Iok get their due, I gotta give credit for a proper mafia hit; only way that could've been done better is with a Tommy Gun. RIP Lafter.

[up] Naw, you're completely valid. For all of Iok's idiocy, there was at least a rationale at the root of it, trying to protect his station from McGillis uprooting it. He does it in the absolute worst way possible, but at least there was a clear motivation there.

Jasley is just a fucking petty asshole, jealous that organizations full of women and "space rats" are outshining him.

Okay, then, this episode...

Really didn't expect Lafter to be taken out so easily. But with that move, Jasley has placed himself in Tekkadan's crosshairs. That has, historically, not ended well for anyone.

I totally called it last season. Tekkadan would come into conflict with Teiwaz. And when that happens, they'll have made enemies of a very powerful organization. They do have McGillis backing them at the moment, but... "I will never betray you." Says the man who lead his childhood friends to their deaths. Orga's going to need to wise up a bit: if he's going to be playing with the big boys in the solar system, he's going to have to be self-sufficient, and expect betrayal.

So, end of season conflict seems to be Tekkadan/McGillis vs Idiok/Jasley. This could go a number of ways. I'm expecting Jasley to bite it, Idiok may or may not depending on how involved he gets in this. With that, Teiwaz will have greatly reduced power, but probably end up an enemy of Tekkadan. But Rustal's still out there, and who knows just how far McGillis is going to honor his alliance with Tekkadan. Seems to me like we're going to need a third season to wrap up all this plot.

So yeah, 9 episodes left to wrap up a lot of loose ends. Anyone else expecting a third season at this point?

Alecoene Since: Sep, 2016
#2192: Jan 29th 2017 at 1:31:49 PM

[up] No.

First off, a conflict involving an troop of pissed-off Ace Pilot lead by a strategic prodigy against a hopelessly incompetent nincompoop and a obnoxious Smug Snake is not going to take nine episode to resolve itself. At most, it will take two episodes before Jasley is toast.

Secondly, most of the character's arcs are arriving at their conclusion; Mika has pretty much given up on any life outside of the battlefield, Orga has decided he can't back down anymore and Mc Gillis is going to start up his own revolution, amongst other things. The only things to wrap-up character-wise are Vidar confronting his former friend, Atra's harebrained plan, Julieta finding her own reason to fight and whatever Mc Gillis's plan actually is. Quite frankly, these things don't need to be dragged on for another season.

And more imortantly, NO Gundam series has ever reached sixty episode (the longest main one was Victory, with fifty-one episode) and I don't see this one breaking the tradition nor do I personaly want it to.

Yeah, I was under the impression for a moment there that the season was further along than it is. My mistake: they could easily wrap this up in the remaining time.

Also this season has 26 episodes total, so there's 10 left. Shouldn't take more than two to burn Teiwaz to the ground, and the rest for Gjallarbowl and the absolute Hell that will entail.

Wow. Did not see that coming. I'm still to shocked to even get angry or sad. That will come later.

R.I.P Lafter.

...

You know, if I had to name the biggest difference between the first and second season it would be a sense of direction. In the first season Tekkadan had a clear, proactive goal from the start to finish and everything that happened brought them closer to that goal. In this season, Tekkadan pretty much just blindly stumbles from one mess to another, pretty much all created by infighting in other organizations. While there is an overall plot of sorts, it feels nowhere near as cohesive as the first one.

This might be why, while the individual episodes didn't drop in quality, overall I'm enjoying this season less than the first one.

Just something I've been pondering about recently.

Oof. Yeah, I'm a bit in shock too. Naze and Amida's deaths were rough, but they were tempered by the fact that I had been expecting them to bite it for a while, and that they went down fighting. This was more like a Walking Dead-style drive-by. Man, it really sucks to be Akihiro; whoever's left in the cast who's especially close to him should lock themselves in a padded room until the season's over at this rate. Jasley's wearing a spacesuit in the preview, so at the very least there's a mulching in his immediate future.

Mc Gillis: "I won't betray you." AHAHAHAHAHA!! You know who also said that? We know you're going to be the final boss, you're not fooling anyone, buster!
