Yes it is an alternate Earth; the year is 2141. Anne-Marie and Lynessa's son will be named Julian (special thanks to electronic-tragedy for giving me the idea [tup]).

I smell magic in the air. Or maybe barbecue.

Genre: black drama comedy/ romance

Premise: ( I couldn't manage to use indent for some reason)
  • a sequel taking place in the far future. The new owner of Gen Corp by the name of Alver Carrow jumpstarts a new line of bioroids called project sin. Each of the bioroids are modeled after the 8 deadly sins: wrath, gluttony, pride, lust, sloth, envy, greed, and despair. All things were going smoothly until the rebel group called the names of freedom ( couldn't think of a better name for them) busted in and tried to steal away the bioroids. However, their plans of freeing the bioroids prove to be unsuccessful as they only managed to get one of them. To make matters worse, despair's body gets severely damaged beyond repair. The only way to fix him was to use his dormant DNA and implant them to one of the resistance member's children.
  • 15 years have passed and the boy grew up living a normal life trying to get the person he likes to be his best friend but to no avail. Life hasn't gone that great for him since he's part of a minority of humans who haven't upgraded or ever bothered to mind upload to new bodies. He's always being outclassed by his peers , being picked on being a baseline human and never being able to participate in everything due to his human limitations. He slowly begins grew envious and wishes he was just like them that's until something happened to him. He accidentally gets himself involved in one of the manes of freedom's missions to take down a rogue AI so which almost gets himself killed. Fortunately, the leader of the group use a pill and gets the boy swallow it. The pill activates despair's dormant DNA which mutates the boy into despair. Despair dispatches the AI leaving the leader sort of impressed by his feats ("that will take a lot more to impress me, kid"). Despair is handed a position as the resistance group's assassin and spy. Now the boy and despair ( now named Silvas Despio) have to work together to reunite the other sins in order to stop Gen Corp from overtaking the architect and putting the whole world in grave danger.

Setting: My story takes place in a fictional world meant to strongly resemble the times of the 1930's right down to the huge depression going on, even though this world's history (and geographical layout) is quite different from the real world's. The main characters travel quite a bit, mostly through smaller towns, prairies and forested areas. This world has absolutely no supernatural or magical aspects about it.

Premise: The story follows Glen and Agnes L'Rais, a married couple in their late twenties. They end up having particularly bad luck, even by the standards you'd get from a depression. To be specific, this couple has the kind of bad luck that had them accidentally get involved in a crime, subsequently become wanted criminals, and then get forcibly sucked further and further into the criminal underworld. The couple's goal is to get out of that situation as soon as possible and return to a semblance of normal life... but can they really escape, or even survive?

The content in the story is meant to be 17+ (in other words, it's rated R). It focuses on the couple's adventures as they run from the law and come in contact with career criminals who can act as friends, foes, or both. The story has a lively energy to it, frequently using action set pieces such as shootouts, car chases (in those old 30's cars of course), and robberies, just for example. Although, with the fun parts of crime comes the not-so-fun parts like drama, death, and a whole lot of regrets.

To summarize all of this in one sentence, it's kind of like Bonnie and Clyde, except this story's stars are forcibly shoved into the criminal lifestyle and hate everything about it.

Working Titles: Valley of Carnations, The Bitter Rapids, The Badlands' Cinders... basically something that communicates both the grit of the 30's crime world and a hint of elegance (I don't want the title to look like it's trying too hard to be profound though)

First thing that came to mind was some kind of shout out to the pulp magazines from the 20s and 30s... but I can't think of just what that would be...
