The sudden movement seemed to catch Cinnabar off-guard and he didn't get out of the way in time, taking some of the blow on his left shoulder. He stumbled back a couple steps before falling into a guard position again, this time watching her more warily.
Azure frowned, caught off guard by the pain. Her semblance wasn't that strong, was it? She cursed her luck and took a step forward, before thrusting forward, the lance attachment releasing and flying through the air at Cinnibar

Good to be backFairgrounds
"Well, good luck with that. It didn't work for me," Jean said. "Cerise is ... bad at expressing sincerity. Probably on purpose. Playing around is like a defense mechanism, I suppose."
A familiar voice called for James from afar. Cerise was jogging towards them, holding up two sticks of cotton candy. Jean scowled.
"I got cotton candy!" Cerise said. She held one in front of James's face. "Here, this one's for you."
Jean stood.
"Oh, I see how it is," she said. "One for him, but nothing for me?"
Cinnabar stepped back into a defensive stance and brought his mace up to deflect the attachment, the force of it knocking his block to the side. He grunted and tried to bring himself back to a defensive alignment, but there was a brief opening for attack.
Azure darted forward, slashing at his cheek in an effort to regain her momementum, before suddenly spinning, attempting to hook her foot under his knee and pull his leg out from under him.
Good to be backCinnabar took the strike directly, stumbling from the force. His stumble took him far enough his legs weren't completely taken out, but he was still taken down to one knee from the sweep. He took a desperate sweep at her legs, the only thing he could easily attack, in the hopes of getting her to back off her momentum.
Azure landed hard on her back, her mouth open in a silent scream as she laid there, frozen as the impact ran through her body. She curled into a fetal position, whimpering despite herself.
Good to be backCinnabar stumbled to his feet, watching Azure with a half-horrified, half-shocked expression, "are you okay? What happened?"
Azure laid there shaking before suddenly, she grabbed at his leg. If successful, she'd yank him to the ground and straddle him, pressing her sword to his juggular. "Yield." She snarled, panting heavily.
Good to be backCinnabar's head cracked hard against the ground from Azure's maneuver, and he gazed blearily up at her and the sword pressed against his neck. "Yield," he managed, not daring move a muscle with where her sword was positioned.
Azure smiled, laughing out loud before suddenly kissing him, hugging him from the sheer joy of the fact she had won her first duel, even the pain felt...sweeter, necessary.
Good to be backCinnabar seemed far too dazed to react to Azure's actions. He shook his head to clear it, watching her with a small smile, "normally the response to that is to help the loser up, but I guess that works too."
Azure leaned back, still straddling him and still panting. "I'm...sorry, that was my first duel." She stretched her back, trying to loosen up the bruised muscles. She looked down at him before pauing. "Can I kiss you again?" She asked hesitantly.
Good to be backCinnabar glanced to the side, his cheeks pinkening slightly, "You're the winner, you get to take one thing. Those were the rules, no?"
"Yes..." Azure murmured, somewhat disappointed. She rolled off of him, stood up and offered him as hand. "You fought well." She said, still feeling slightly awkward. "Sorry about the kiss, I...I wasn't really thinking."

Good to be backCinnabar accepted her hand to get up, "Don't worry about it, if it bothered me I'd say so." He leaned back and stretched out his back and arms, "you kicked my ass there, I only landed one blow that entire fight."
Azure growled in pain as she bent over to pick up her lance. "It was a Good blow." She smiled. "Thank you for not holding back."
Good to be back"I don't have much of a choice, do I?" he asked, picking up his mace and strapping it back to his side, "youd've won either way, it seems, so why not try as hard as I can." He winced and massaged his forehead, "did you really have to take me down so hard? My ears are still ringing from that."
"It is a deepest insult to hold back against someone. Or, at least, its supposed to be." She gently put her hand on his heart, feeling his emotions.
Good to be back"I'd hold back if I was trying to teach or sommat, but..." he started as Azure placed her hand on his chest, recoiling back away. If she could get emotions off of him that quickly, the primary one would be a level of uncertainty, "Could you stop that? That's kinda unfair."
Azure frowned at his confusion. "Sorry." She said, "I'll try not to do that again." She said as she looked down at her blue dress, frowning. She needed a new set of gear.
Good to be back"It's... fine. Just kinda uncomfortable to have someone able to tell my emotions like that," he muttered, "anyway... congrats."
Azure looked at him. "Why do you hide your emotions so much?" She asked him. "I could feel your uncertainty-Do you not trust your team?"
Good to be back"It's not like that, it's... it just makes me uncomfortable to have someone able to so accurately figure my emotions," he shrugged, "Like... idk. Like staring into my soul or sommat. 'Sides, I kinda just met you today, so... I dunno."

Azure recoiled in shock, the air from the strikes felt like slaps to her and she fell back, slashing at his face.
