Scarlet paused in her work and absently-mindedly scooped a dropped dust round off the ground as she looked over at Selene. "Yeah, what's it smell like? Because I don't think I'm finding anything useful over here. Aside from this company mark, hardly proves anything."

Selene grudgingly brought the goggles to her nose again, face scrunching a bit again. "Smells like... Industrial paint... From... Atlas? I think that's the stuff Atlas uses." She thought a bit more, trying to get an idea of anything specific she might recognize.

"Well that explains the crates and the mark on the one if you're right. We can't assume the guy is connected to them, whoever they are." Scarlet replied, staring at the round and the picture she had taken thoughtfully.
"Might be able to check for recent thefts in Atlas, but it still doesn't explain the stealth tech. We might be able to ask around here to see if anyone has heard anything. I don't care how quiet he was, if he stored an army here, someone had to have seen something...." The biker trailed off.
"I feel like I'm missing something, hell if I know what though."

Past Midnight - Abandoned Tenements Surrounding Abandoned FOB, Vale
"All elements check in."
"Misericorde Actual, checking in."
"Lucerne Actual, checking in."
"We gonna wreck shit now?"
Silence over the channel as unseen elements kept visual contact with the forward operating base, watching the movement register on their scopes. Somewhere, a voice bit back a sigh as it went through a final instruments check,
"Operational log is counting down. Operation Restful Slumber begins at zero one hundred. All teams run final checks."
In one of the abandoned tenements, something stirred carefully before slowly advancing forward.
Past Midnight - Abandoned FOB, Vale
Selene's fiddlings with the goggles activated them with a whine of power. If she were to peek through their lenses, she caught sight of something painted upon the walls.
Right outside, apart from some broken moving pallets, there wasn't much else on the grounds themselves, other than evidence of recent landings.
On the underground storage, it was a rather high end lock barring the way. Like whoever was here was maybe thinking of returning.

Selene glanced at the powered on goggles for a bit, seeing past the lenses at something on the walls. "What the, what's that I wonder...?" She questioned as she peered through the goggles at the wall.
Past Midnight - Abandoned FOB, Warehouse Interior, Vale
The dingy warehouse was still a dingy warehouse under the glow of various kinds of vision. Though now Selene understood where the chemical stench came from. Upon the far wall, in sharp yet messy lettering, like some strident dawn amidst a horizon of ruin, was a simple statement.
"WE REMAIN"
Past Midnight - Abandoned FOB, Exterior Grounds, Vale
Even to those with average senses, it was too easy to pick out the sounds of something far too large falling towards the grounds before landing with an almighty crash that cratered the grounds.
Amidst the rising clouds of dust and debris, those outside caught sight of the tell-tale glow of directed energy weapons.

Night
Right in the middle of clawing at the lock with her bladed paws, Cerise perked up at the sound of the crashing unidentified object. She didn't startle; just acknowledged its existence with her twitching ears.
"Right on time."
Still facing the lock, so her wild grin wasn't visible, Cerise took a few steps back.
"First thing's first," Cerise said, "We crack this candy jar open!"
She reeled back and struck the door to the underground storage with the might of her baton.

"Yo Scarlet, we got something over here." Selene said in the direction of Scarlet. "Might be an interesting clue. Something written on the wall. Says 'we remain'. Sounds like something some cheesy villain or cult would say honestly..."

"Lemme see." Scarlet replied, gently taking the goggles from Selene and looking through them. The biker stared in confusion at the message. "What the hell kind of rabbit hole did we stumble into?" She asked aloud before there was a large crash and the ground shook slightly beneath them.
Scarlet looked back towards the entrance. "Five minutes, I just want five minutes of something not going wrong." She growled, pulling her chain free and stalking towards the entrance. "C'mon, Cat, we've got someone who needs a beating."

"Finally, some action." She said as she cracked her knuckles and followed after Scarlet. She slipped her arms into the bases of Moonlight Sonata before reaching behind her waist and letting the blades lock into place from the magnetism and mechanism. "Let's go bust some heads."

Scarlet stepped out of the door and saw the glow of the mounted weapons as the dust slowly settled around the form of their new enemy.
"Hmm...looks like a big one, might be a bit of an issue. See if you can flank it. I'm gonna grab its attention." Scarlet began walking forward and lightly tossed her chain, not intending to damage it yet but to make it notice her. "Hey, tough guy. Come get some!"

There was a second whistling, followed by an impact as devastating as the other by the far corner of the FOB. The dust around the first settled to reveal the quadripedal form of the Maghariba
◊ gun platform favored by the Vacu armed forces. Their armored exoskeletons were bare and gunmetal grey and bristling. The hearing of the Beacon students rang with the sound of autoloaders cycling, of Dust generators power up, the smell of fuel pungent in the air even as it aimed the barrels of heavy machine guns at Scarlet and Selene, firing a suppressive burst that tore chips out of the concrete.
There was a sudden flash of danger in Gage's brain. As Cerise's baton crashed upon the underground storage entrance, the grinning cat Faunus found herself right where her team mate was standing just as the door burst open explosively, sending Gage hurling through the air and into a tumble on the landing pad.
Terrifying war whoops could be heard reverberating into the night as a file of black-clad figures poured into the grounds, shock-bucklers and maces at the ready, along with a host of other weapons.
Right before her outward sensors began to go fuzzy, Halle detected data streams from the Maghariba towards some of the buildings just surrounding the FOB.
Once again, the sounds of combat resounded through the air. Only this time, help wouldn't be coming. Gage rolled back to his feet and grit his teeth to meet the first incoming fighters.
Meanwhile, Back at the Dorms
Several other students may have not gone out with the others, but that didn't mean they would get a full night of sleep in Dorm Sakura. Some would be woken up by the sound of metal clanging to the ground, followed by someone whisper-shouting “Damn it!” Should they look out their doors, they would see a certain raven faunus picking up the metal.
“Real smooth, Morgan,” she muttered to herself as she stood up. “Why don't you just announce to the whole dorm what you're up to, it'd be faster…”

That loud clanging of metal to the ground woke up the person who usually slept in the bunk above Morgan. Iris rubbed her eyes groggily as she sat up in her bed, dressed in purple-colored pajamas with music notes printed all over the pants, and silently thought to herself.
Who's up this late...? And why are they being so loud...some of us are trying to sleep here...
She got up from her bed and climbed down to the ground, and quietly opened the door to the hall to investigate the sound, hopefully without waking Izzy and Suzune as well.

Cerise was just about to blink back to safety when Gage swapped places with her. She clicked her tongue, then stepped forward, extending her arms to catch Gage in his tumble and help him to his feet.
"Always playing the hero. No wonder you ended up here," Cerise said. "The front door booby trap only works if your catburglar can't blink to safety every time they see it coming a mile away. Would've been nice to find a more discrete way in, but we're out of time."
Cerise stood, then glanced in Halle's direction.
"If you're going to look for clues inside, watch for more bombs," she said. "Make yourself useful, yeah?"
Cerise gripped her baton tighter.
"It's playtime and we have the best seats in the house."

Scarlet's arm and chain both whipped about, each swing blocking several of the bullets, protecting both herself and Selene from any damage. "C'mon, tough guy, don't wuss out on me." She taunted before tapping her arm console several times, her bike coming to life and firing a barrage at the robot.
"Seriously, Selene, other side. Otherwise what were we practicing for?"

"All freaking heart, that's me," Gage grunted, his Aura taking the hit and his clothes slightly singed. He patted down some cinders which had gotten on to his scarf before straightening to meet the assault bearing down on his teeth. While they were spreading out to box them towards the kill-zone, more than a few were charging Gage and Cerise.
He tilted his head to the left against the overhanded swing from the first figure before lashing his foot in a sharp push kick that sent him tumbling back. Another, he gently swayed to the right and swung his leg in a hooking kick that sent the attacker tumbling into Cerise's reach.
"These guys move like anyone familiar?"

Finding his face burning brightly from embarrassment again, James tried to keep the books he was carrying steady while adjusting his glasses.
"...F-Firstly, I-I was just...trying to b-be polite. S-Secondly...I'm not r-really what you'd call strong. S-Sturdy, maybe, but not r-really able t-to compete with...w-well...most p-people. And t-thirdly...I-I, um...i-it's already hard t-to carry simple t-things with one arm. A-And while you're, u-um, p-probably q-quite light, I-I'd p-probably drop yo-"
Blinking as one of the books toppled from the stack, James reflexively tried to grab it with his other hand, wincing in pain but managing to barely prevent thee whole lot from collapsing.
"...I-I'm...just...going t-to stop t-talking and a-actually get t-the board...and whatnot...s-set up..."
And with that, he slowly left to the lounge.
Night.
With the infirmary still feeling empty and dismal...and the dorm's mostly empty or with those who decided to get some shut-eye, James was seated at the table in the lounge, most of that Grimm and Grottos gear placed further down the end as he lightly tapped what looked like a pair of robotic heads...or rather bare-bone metallic skulls with a screwdiver.
...these two got caught up in the wrong place at the wrong time. Definitely not suited for combat like the others.
The blue-haired boy sighed, prodding his goggles with the screwdriver and tried to think. It was already hard enough to concentrate after several hours of not having something sugary...and whatever that loud noise upstairs was NOT helping.
"Hrm...I should go check, but at the same time..."
Hope you weren't expecting anything witty here. Maybe some day.

"Yeah, yeah, Scarlet I'm gettin to it." Scarlet said as she shot a few shotgun blasts at the mech, before reversing the blades to the reverse position and kicking off the ground firing off the shotgun to propel her forward and slip past the weapon platform's position, assuming position behind the mech to flank with Scarlet. "In position."

Scarlet spun her chain several times in a tight circle.
"Alright, don't be afraid to drop the chain if big man looks like he's up to something." She said to Selene over the comms. As soon as she had a clear view of Selene on the other side of the robots the redhead hurled the chain at her.
"Comin' at ya, sweetie."

Aoi quietly observed James' exit of the lounge, emitting a barely audible "Poor kid..." as he left. Having digested the information in the gamebook, she set it on the table, not entirely sure where else she would put it.
"Doki Doki Lit. Club" is a happy game where nothing bad happens. seriously tho? not for the faint of heart.
"Alright, I figure it's on me to take on my own kind." Halle's flat eyes took in the surrounding combat situation. Her head dropped off her shoulders and she grasped the cord, whipping it a circle to build up momentum. "It's being controlled remotely, but it's on you guys whether we ought to go eliminate the controllers or just take this thing out directly. I think interrogating them'd be interesting but not necessary."
Halle threw her arm forward and let Zarathustra fly through the air, jaws out and ready to clamp onto the spider tank.

"Thanks hot stuff." Selene responded as she grabbed the chain, looping it around her arms and then throwing the other side of the chain to Scarlet as she crossed her arms in front of her, the blades positioned to slam into anything in front of her.

Scarlet easily caught the other end of the chain and immediately yanked with all her might while willing her chain to retract, further boosting Selene's speed as the cat girl soared towards the robot.

"Ugh, this place smells horrible." Selene commented as she looked at the goggle's, inspecting them closely. "These smell too." She commented as she scrunched her face slightly. "Hmm."
