Sounds like I'll give it a chance. I have to wait 6 days for crunchy roll though.
"But if that happened, Melia might actually be happy. We can't have that." - Handsome Rob"White Knight Syndrome" reminds me of "Hysteria Savant Syndrome" from Hidan no Aria. And so far, I feel Hidan no Aria did it better.
Granted, only the first episode's out so far, so I'll give this show some time to get stuff fleshed out.
The reviews for the show have been pretty crappy so far. You guys seem to like it though. Is it a critical/viewer dissonance or is it simply a niche show?
I think people are just sick of the "hero saves damsel in distress" formula by now.
Well, I've got no problem with genericy as long as it's done well. Thanks for letting me know, I'll check it out later.
HSS was just silly and contrived with the whole "sexual arousal turns him into an expert hitman" and always seemed like an excuse for fanservice. Compared to that "White Knight Syndrome" seems much more straightforward.
I get what you mean, but I was reading the LN, and I don't recall the LN having as much fanservice as the anime. Especially past the point the anime adapted. It's like they suddenly decided to focus on action and left any remaining fanservice to the running gags.
And yes, that's not a very good argument. And my memory isn't very good, so maybe I'm mistaken.
Going back to LN'M I like how Youtarou's horse can track like a bloodhound, talk, and turn into a girl for no apparent reason. Is it a magic horse? Are we to assume that all horses are like that?
It's little things like that, that can make a series more enjoyable.
Considering that the guys they passed didn't react, I'd say it doesn't actually transform and it's just so they can make her more expressive or something I don't even know wtf I'm talking about any more.
The more likely explanation is so they can put out merchandise of its girl form. Because no one's going to buy merchandise with a cute horse on it, but people'll clearly snap up a cute anthropomorphic horse.
This was a last-minute addition to my watch list and while I felt it was a bit meh it had some funny moments here and there, and enough plot to keep me interested. I think the animation may annoy me though for some reason.
"Heroes? There's no such thing -"
"MY LANCE SAYS OTHERWISE!"
You'd think that a talking horse would be interesting enough in and of itself, but no, it has to also have a girl form.
Hey, moe sells.
And this show is aiming for moe as hell, given that it has not one but two meido characters.
Three, One seems more of a possible Drill Sergeant Nasty though.
Wait, there's Yoriko - the scary one- and the the one with glasses who's name I didn't catch, but who's the third one?
Speaking of maid, Youtaro, a guy with his own maid, a horse and a member of a prestigious knight order didn't even have enough money for lunch? Did he forgot his wallet?
Episode 2: Well things are definitely getting interesting and it seems the Knights are mercenaries as well as protectors. I am liking scary maid the best so far.
Wow, this got pretty dark really fast. Seriously it's start with hilarious antics involving Youtaro's magical horse, his squire, and scary maid, and ends with Youtaro questioning the very basis of being a knight and finding out that his squire got beaten up by the little psycho shit.
Seriously, I hope that little shit gets his ass kicked next episode.
Gettin' interesting. Not much else to say. I like Shirohime the horse and Makio and I still barely know what anyone's deal is, it seems like all the characters have a lot of layers that will be exposed.
So what, it's unforgivable for a maid to enable child neglect but when a knight does it it's loyalty?
Yuyan no.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot. It's apparently okay for a knight to serve and asshole as long as it pays well. And rise gun totting little shits. I so hope Youtarou is going to call them on their bullshit.
Episode 3: Reasonable but the fights could probably have used a bit more oomph. I wasn't expecting Youtarou's dad to turn up until later in the series, or that he would appear to be the villain.
Well, of course Yoriko is also a knight. But why her lance is inside the engine? o_O
Seeing Shirohime look like a real horse was weird.
So Youtaro father shows up, and gives him Rhongomyniad. Well, not like he could run around with a spear stump.
Speaking of Shin, he's kinda creepy.
Finally, a show with positive message for girls. Don't try to be a hero, leave that to men. Just make sure you are good proper lady so you don't embarrass them.
It seems next episode Youtaro goes to school or something. This could be an opportunity to expand the cast.
Episode 4 returns to the comedy and also expands the cast dramatically. Of the new characters, the new knight and the hero fangirl seem fun. The nutty ninja girl seems interesting as well.
Yeah, the cast suddenly grew quite a bit.
And yeah, the comedy is back. Wow, Shirohime trying to sneak into school. It seems that she really can't actually transform into a human. But of course that won't them from making figurines.
Motorcycles do no work that way!
At first I could remember who Sae is, until they showed the flashback and I was like "Oh yeah, it's that weird, ungrateful chick." I hope she won't be sticking around to talk shit about Knight Lancer.
That little shit is still at it? Seems Yoriko wasn't through enough last time. And really, Kongouji shouldn't spoil him like that.
Silvia and Nori sure are fun additions to the cast. Nori even Maiko hero fascination thing... Alice really is a big softie isn't she. ^_^
And it seems Youtaro dreams of a normal school life are going to stay just a dream, thanks to Hero Club.
Knight Lancer coming to jump to conclusions and beat the bad guys anyway by accident!
Yufeng uses Hug of Love! It's super effective!
The first episode was pretty good. It's definitely on the silly side, but the jokes work - I love the "White Knight Syndrome" - the characters seem likable enough, and the plot could be interesting. Also, animation is unexpectedly good.
For now I'm going to keep watching.
