I do agree that TDS has been a lot meaner about Rubio than most of the other candidates. Their reaction to everyone else is "God, what a hilarious idiot," but when Rubio or Carly Fiorina come up they get a lot more biting about it.
And Jon used to do that from time to time too, but a pattern of picking on someone was usually reserved for media personalities (e.g. Tucker Carlson, or Glenn Beck).
In fairness, Rubio is an empty suit, a sycophant, a brown-noser, a shameless panderer after campaign donations, with no personality and no political agenda of his own. There is little reason to abstain from making fun of him, especially as the media has, in general, treated him as the "serious establishment alternative to Bush" for a long time. That's three lies for the price of one.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"It's not the covering of the gaffe, it's the... mean-spirited-ness of it? I can't put it into specifics but it came across as much more trying to shoot Rubio down than standard japery.
Which is kind why he's the best Republican candidate. Thus scariest.

Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.I think the reason is that what Rubio did was so frustratingly emblematic of the problem with the entire political system. They all use soundbites, they all use pre-written lines that they repeat. They all do it. But Rubio proved that he's literally incapable of not doing it. Even when he gets called out for it, he can't stop it. It's all he has.
After Iowa, Rubio was positioned to be the best challenger to Trump and Cruz, the best chance the Republicans had of having a candidate who wasn't a complete fucking lunatic. And then he proved just how empty he is.
And he's the Great Hope of the Republican Party. It shows how fucked-up the Republicans are right now.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.<Trevor Noah> You don't try something for the first time when it could be the last time.
Talking about the supreme court, basically blocking Obama's climate change stuff before the actual hearing-
"And you might not care, because you're not gonna be around-" -and then Scalia dies over the weekend. Welp, that just got Harsher in Hindsight

Wait, the Daily Show actually covered the iPhone 7 headphone jack backlash by comparing it to the transgender backlash?
That's... wow. When I first heard about that I genuinely thought it was a joke. I've been going back through old episodes to catch up and I just hit that. I'm genuinely a bit astounded.
... and honestly, pretty sure that they're getting a lot of sponsorship from Apple or something. Between that and their disproportionate shilling of Steve Jobs, either they're getting some Apple money or they've just got some huge Apple fans on their staff.

I did think comparing Trump to Shaggy's "It wasn't me" was genius

Latest episode was a kind of post-post-Trump apocalyptic scenario. Interesting choice and idk how well it landed.
Can't escape it, the show has lost most of it's bite.Haven't watched it for months now.
Did happen to catch the latest episode though and it was a good example of why I lost interest. With Noah doing an episode without having a studio audience laughing at him, it was obvious how many of his jokes just didn't land. Shame.
At least Colbert has been getting back some of his former bite, so I have something to watch in the evenings.

Yeah, that post-apocalypse episode was . . . not great. I find their "skits" are bad. Like their "Controversy Court" or whatever it's called.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.Their skits usually aren't as good as Colbert's over at the Late Show, but I do really like their news segments. Trevor Noah rarely fails to crack me up when he's reporting on the distressing current events going on in the country.
For me, most of the non-Trevor Noah bits tend to fall flat, while Trevor Noah himself typically knocks it out of the park.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I liked it, personally.
Oh God! Natural light!Hmmm, no posts? Well, okay. I watch clips from the show on YouTube.
Hey.I like it but I think he sometimes holds the jokes too long
Now that he's covered an entire presidential administration I think it's a good time to review his time as host. I'd barely heard of him when they made him host, so I was naturally skeptical, but I think he's shown himself to be the right guy for the job. Part of me wishes I could've seen what Jon Stewart would've done if he'd still been host, but I think he was getting more bitter and jaded near the time he left, so I have a feeling the Trump administration would've sent him into a never-ending stream of Angrish. That's why I think a young, cheerful guy like Noah ended up being the right host for the times.

Trevor Noah also added an interesting new take to the conversation due to his heritage.
He grew up in South Africa and the Trump presidence provided a löt of room for comparisons - there's a reason Trevor described him as America's first African president.
Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.I enjoy Trevor Noah quite a bit. Unfortunately I don't watch him as often as I do Stephen Colbert and Seth Meyers. I exclusively follow them on YouTube, not on TV, so it's a matter of time allocation.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Oh hey yeah.
Reminded me of my X president Jaocob Zuma. Who is startlingly similar to trump. True Teflon Don's right until the end (they even had the same nickname). Like holy shit how can someone have so many controversial stuff and still be untouched.

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."
Trevor also outright drew a comparison between Trump and Gaddafi.
The video I mentioned:

Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.
Every talk show, late-night comedy show, political news hour, etc. covered Rubio's gaffe at the debate.
