(Normally it would take a couple pages or so for me to type actual dialogue between my own characters, so I'm just going to save time by cutting it and summarizing the results of their talks.)

Once the conversation ended, Juun'Reyan left the barracks and was on his way to the bridge before his superior summoned him, requesting his presence to where he was already going...which he felt was annoyingly redundant. At first Zhet'Torva was adamant about keeping Juun in his group, and the two would exchange words for what would feel like 45 Earth minutes even though it was a lot less. At first Juun tried to explain all the benefits of his task force job offer that he couldn't pass off, but Captain Torva didn't seem to care. He was more concerned about the state of their fleet detachment, as their ships constantly needed repairs and supervision. He explained that Juun was "too valuable an asset" to just give away to some cause, and wondered why the council was even bothering to ask a quarian for their help considering how prejudiced they became against their species ever since the Geth Revolution.

That part of the conversation made Juun realize that he had taken the wrong approach, and decided to use reasoning that made it sound like him joining the Task Force would benefit the Migrant Fleet, which wasn't entirely false. He explained that during these missions, he would have more of an opportunity to not only combat the Geth, but also find potentially devastating information that would shift the Quarian-Geth War in the Migrant Fleet's favor. While 'Torva was starting to show signs of being convinced after this sound argument, he was especially sold that Juun's new superior would provide the group an opportunity to trade all the salvaged supplies they had collected on the Citadel, which was something they weren't entirely sure they'd be able to do.

At first Zhet'Torva figured they should scour every star with a Mass Relay on their way to the Citadel, but Juun used the Scarcity Tactic to convince his captain to set an immediate course directly for the Citadel. Upon reaching the Mass Relay, the group prepared for the next jump one ship at a time, ensuring their systems were as repaired as they could be before setting their course. After the last ship entered the Mass Relay, there was no backing down.

Heroic, I need you to finish up this summoning convo. I need some sort of response from Shepard if we're going to finalize you playing him. Your long bouts in between posting concern me. If something's going on, please tell me in this thread or in PM. Same goes for you, Renewal, I haven't heard anything for days. I can be understanding, but if I don't know what's going on, how can I work with you two? It's not fair to wakdatstomp or Paradoxial who are all done and waiting for this to begin. From the looks of things, this RP will be slow paced, but still, you need to contact me, both of you Renewal and Heroic. If don't hear anything from you two by Friday-Saturday, I will be sending P Ms expressing my concern. Heroic, since you are playing a major character, I will only be giving you until the 30th of November to respond somehow until I remove your Shep assignment and put you in the list of people who expressed interest. Renewal, you only have an OC, so you have more time. Really, I hate being this way, but sometimes my foot must come down. If I do remove you from the roster, I hope to see both of you later and hopefully it turns out better. Sorry wakdatstomp and Paraxdoxial for the delays, and also I'm for the delays to Renewal and Heroic. I'm trying to send updates as they come.

Also, anyone want to play Tali or Garrus? I'll take the other who was not picked. I like both a lot so I don't care who I play. For them, I write up the character sheet, but you get to contribute in the "Character Plans" part along with me; and maybe some other parts, such as maybe the "Personality" and the "Biography" felds. Also, Liara and Kaidan are available.

I feel half-tempted to take your offer to use Tali...but I think one quarian character is enough for now.

It may be better that I use Tali, speaking that I already have a Turian, but I want it to up to someone else. Garrus and Tali are pretty much my top characters from the BW games. Garrus being my all time favorite character in the BW series and Tali working her way up slowly but steadily until she hit top tier under Garrus's tier. Either way, I'm going to be using a major canon character I like.

Sorry, been a bit busy with school this week. Managed to finally nail down my concept today, so here you are:

Name: Rait Vek

Race: Krogan

Gender: Male

Age: 200-250

Physical description: A fairly nondescript krogan—that is, roughly seven feet tall and just under half a ton of muscle and redundant biology—with deep green armor plates and eyes a slightly lighter shade of green. His only especially distinguishing feature is a vicious scar running down the length of his head plate, nearly bisecting it, before trailing down to end at his left temple.

Skillset: Unusually for a krogan, has some skill as an infiltrator—a trained sniper with moderate hacking and other minor tech skills, and general proficiency with most firearms from decades as a mercenary. However, there are obvious limits to what a so-called krogan infiltrator can accomplish—Vek's infiltration methods tend to favor shock and awe over stealth and silence.

Occupation: Mercenary, as is common among most of the krogan diaspora.

Personality: Short-spoken, short-tempered, and blunt—not unusual for a krogan. However, he is rather more reserved than the average krogan; a veneer of indifference coats his usual demeanor, and his rage is the sort that stays suppressed for a time and eventually builds up into a volcanic fury. But this reserve comes from an unusual wellspring of patience for a krogan; he is generally agreeable if cold until his temper finally hits a boiling point. As with all krogan, he respects strength above all else, but tempered by a fierce sense of loyalty: once you've proven your worth to Vek, you have it for life—unless you give him cause to reevaluate that worth. Ultimately, Vek is the dutiful if somewhat unapproachable sort: he'll get the job done, get it done right, and make sure everyone else gets it done too, but he's not necessarily in it to make friends.

Homeworld/space station/ship: Tuchanka.

Biography: Born on Tuchanka, Vek was simply yet another krogan born into his people's pointless and unending struggle for survival and dominance over the blasted wastes of the planet. However, he had the misfortune (or perhaps fortune) to be born into the doomed Clan Rait, a clan with ambitions far outstripping its abilities and luck—it was eventually wiped out and assimilated in a brutal clan war. Vek is the last surviving male of Clan Rait; only a few decades old with plates barely hardened, he was given the ultimate insult of being deemed "not worth killing" at his clan's massacre, and so escaped with life (and his grievous head wound). With no ties and no clan left on Tuchanka, Vek followed the path of many other krogan and became a mercenary. The wounds he suffered at Clan Raik's massacre gave him an unusual appreciation for caution and an understanding of traditional weaknesses; rather than focusing on domination of the battlefield through overwhelming firepower and presence, he favors the tactical mindset of an infiltrator, using a sniper rifle and offensive technical abilities as his preferred weapons. It is this distinct skillset that makes him an interesting hire as a mercenary—not as effective as a fabled battlemaster, of course, but interesting nonetheless—and thus a candidate for the Citadel's task force.

Your plans for your character: Essentially, finding roots with the task force and building a sort of substitute clan—he's a rather lonely and isolated person, and has been for decades. He also has some eye towards building a future for the krogan, but he's not as ambitious as Wrex—rather than seeing the genophage cured and Tuchanka restored or some other grand goal, he simply wants to see an end to the destructive and pointless internecine conflict that consumed and eradicated his clan. A last distant dream for him is to see the name of Clan Rait passed on somehow, that it might survive his inevitable death.

Again, sorry for the delay here; I'm a little more used to slower-paced forums.

[up]Looking at your sheet, it looks fine, barring that Wrex hasn't started much on his grand ambitions yet. And thank you for telling me issues that you have (school). I'll have to keep that in mind, barring the fact that I'm semi impatient. Also, what is Vek's opinion on Turians? I want to know if Zytex should hand over the recruitment to Fana for Vek due Krogan usually disliking Turians.

Also, we as a group all have to talk about how we're going to handle the genophage and the like in this RP. I haven't given it much thought sad.

Ah, the Wrex thing was just an OOC reference to the events of the games. I'm just asserting that Vek's not the type to go all krogan overlord and reunite the krogan like Wrex ultimately did. Vek probably doesn't have a clue who Wrex is unless he's done something drastic in the aftermath of ME1.

As for turians, Vek's generally indifferent to them, being a professional and all. He has a bit of lingering racial dislike towards them for everything that went down during the rebellions, but he's dealt with turian clients amicably in the past. Essentially, unless the turian in question has a problem with krogan, Vek's neutral enough with them.

And yeah, the whole genophage question is why I wanted to play a krogan ^_^. I guess it's okay if you don't have a plan for it yet; we can just see what arises organically over the course of the RP.

Renewal's Rait Vek Recruitment

Browsing through his files, Zytex found yet another person he thought would interesting to recruit into the task force. A Krogan infiltrator, that's something you don't see everyday., Zytex chuckled to himself. A warrior like him could be a very great addition to our force, especially with his unorthodox methods. It also says he's fine with Turians such as myself. Zytex put in Vek's contact information and awaited a response.

(remember, that this is based off my total Rewrite of ME 2 and 3. BW ME 2 and 3 never happened (I'm not really even going their direction), but are pools for ideas. I don't mind you bringing in things from those games, but be careful as I reserve the right to have your remove inserts from those games or change them to serve the RP. But you're fine.)

Rait Vek's Recruitment

Rait Vek nursed his drink at the seedy bar deep within the lower reaches of the Citadel Wards. The past few weeks had been good to him; mercenary work always spiked in uncertain times. Fear was always the best incentive for people to swallow their qualms and hire on a little more armed muscle; he'd seen more barefaced turians, krogan, batarians, and even vorcha in the seedier parts of the Citadel in the past month than he had in the past decade. Desperate times made for desperate measures, he supposed.

His omnitool beeped, and a knowing smirk came to Vek's craggy features. For the first time in decades, he was in something resembling demand. Most times, people wanted krogan for shock and awe and sheer firepower; a krogan infiltrator was little more than a novelty. But the attack on the Citadel had shaken everyone up—now people wanted every card possible in their hand, and a krogan infiltrator was unusual enough that Vek stuck out. It wasn't quite the sort of infamy he'd wanted when he started up as a mercenary, but business ultimately was business.

Swallowing his drink and letting the soothing burn slide down his gullet, he tapped on his omnitool to respond to the message. "Vek speaking."

Renewal's Rait Vek Recruitment

Zytex composed himself and spoke formally through his communicator," Hello Mr. Rait Vek, my name is General Zytex Gyrandros of the Turian Hierarchy. If I understand correctly, you're looking for work. Luckily for you, I happen to have some. It has to deal with a massive threat to galactic peace and security and is of great importance. You may decline me at any time, but I highly recommend you hear me out.". Zytex awaited a response from the Krogan.

(some of the details you put into that description were gold)

Rait Vek's Recruitment

Vek lowered his drink to the bartop with a soft clink. The flanged harmonics of a turian voice coming through was hardly a surprise—in a galaxy this big, every race had its renegades, turians included—but an introduction that elaborate certainly was. Every mercenary knew that governments had their pragmatic sides, and Vek himself had received sizable paychecks from hefty government contracts a time or two over his career, but still... A general in the Hierarchy? Desperate times indeed.

"I've never been one to turn down a contract out of hand, General," he rumbled. "I'm listening."

Renewal's Rait Vek Recruitment

Zytex heard the slight noises Vek had made in the background and said with formality,"Is something wrong, Mr. Vek? Anyways, the reason I contacted you. As you have no doubt heard, Saren's attack on the Citadel has left Citadel space and the galaxy going haywire. The Geth's defeat at the Citadel seemed to barely phase them. Instead, they seem resurgent and more powerful than before, attacking both Citadel aligned and non Citadel things alike. Also, the chaos created in the wake of the Citadel's attack has given rise to reports of new factions springing up, their motives, locations, resources, and so on unknown. To combat this and more, the Citadel Council has made a new black ops task force. They have made me their de facto leader and and we currently recruiting skilled people of all races and professions to help out. Your battle hardenedness stands out to me as useful. Also, I'm interested in your abilities as a Krogan infiltrator. Such a profession is rare amongst Krogan and I hope your unorthodox methods will give us an edge. If you decide to join, you will be provided access to top of the line equipment, some even extralegal. Also, we plan on compensating everyone in the task force, including you. So Mr. Vek, are you interested in joining us, knowing all this?". Zytex patiently awaited a response.

Rait Vek's Recruitment

Vek tapped through his omnitool and authorized a transaction to the bar, settling his tab, before exiting the joint. "Nothing's wrong General. Just a little surprised is all." A deep chuckle rumbled through him. "Not everyday a turian general calls a krogan mercenary for work." He hummed in thought for a brief moment, before an explosive sigh snapped past his lips. "You had me at 'compensation' General. Everything else is just extra. For what you're offering, I'll gladly show you the best this krogan infiltrator can offer."

Saving the galaxy on the Council's behalf... Funny, this story sounded pretty familiar. "So what needs to be done on my end?"

Renewal's Rait Vek Recruitment

Zytex sounded less concerned and responded confidently and formally,"Well, Mr. Vek, I am sending you a file that will serve authorization to get in the Citadel Council Chambers. You will need that file to get in at that time. Please meet us at the Council Chambers for our first meeting at the given time and date. If you have any other questions, please contact my people. Good day, Mr. Vek.". Zytex cut communications and then continued his usual thing of browsing for interesting people to recruit into the task force.

(respond and we are done. I love how quick that was. Once I hear back from Heroic and we have no other pending characters, we can start this thing.)

Rait Vek's Recruitment

Vek took a deep breath in the crowded thoroughfare outside the bar. Even now, weeks after Sovereign and the geth's attack, a faint taste of soot and smoke remained in the air—life support across the station remained functional, of course, but at far from full capacity. The damage to the Wards both from the attack itself and Sovereign's destruction had been extensive.

Still, it was a fair margin sweeter than Tuchanka's blasted atmosphere.

He called up the authorization file and smirked. To think, a krogan mercenary from a dead clan and no particular influence, called up to the hallowed chambers of the Citadel Council itself... "Clan Rait really is going places," he muttered to himself. "Heh, time for the krogan to bail out the Council's asses once again." Vek closed down his omnitool and went to prepare his gear.

(And done ^_^.)

[up][up] His SIGNATURE LINE had a link to a Rp site, which plot involved stealing dragon eggs and hatching them, and besides that I don't know what else the game was about. The link it self was to a dragon egg. about 2 days after his first post in the signup the egg died, so he might be trying to steal and hatch a different egg in that game.

Also, will you mention the Dragons teeth from ME 1, because and ME 3 Didn't reference those at all and in ME 2 they only showed up for one level. Anyway what I'm asking is, what did the council do to them did they order them to be destroyed or to be studied, or did they just go and say " Well lets just leave the giant eye swore's that bring corpse to life just sitting there out in the open."

[up]Oh yeah, Dragon's Teeth are making reappearances. IRP, they're Reaper tech again despite never being said so in ME 1, just heavily implied. About what the Council did with them? It'd be the smart thing to study them, though honestly, I haven't made up what would happen to them. You gave me an idea for Zytex to want to study them though, especially as he's interested in the Geth.

((I assure you, I'm well aware of that. He wants a monomolecular blade for other reasons. I don't think that the monomolecular blade shoots anything. It's just an insanely sharp weapon.

As for my posts taking time, I wasn't aware this thread was particularly time sensitive. I'll be quicker when we get to R Ping. That said, it is to some extent illustrative of how much free time. That said, I should be able to get out at least three or four posts a day if need be. That said, should this be unacceptable, I will completely understand if you would like me to relinguish my position. I could probably make this character a human that's simply not Commander Shepard.

Also, Renewal, do I know you from somewhere else? I was good friends with a dude named Renewal on a different forum.))

Shepard looked around the room. Now that he thought of it, this was the only time he'd ever been in the council chamber completely alone. He'd spent plenty of time there, sure, but now that it was just him, he could take in the significance of the room. He stood there for a few minutes, not sure what to do. He had always wanted to sit in one of the council chairs, but he didn't think that would be good for PR if someone caught him.

Shepard approached the center podium, placing a hand on it. He wondered how many different species had passed through the Citadel. It definitely put things into perspective. He took a moment, thinking about how small he was compared to the rest of the universe. But he could be a part of a greater whole. He slowly released the podium, turned, and left the Council Chambers.

Name: Naa'Miyaa vas Nedas
Race: Quarian
Gender:Female
Age: Fleetborn; adult
Physical description: A suitdweller like the others. Underneath, her face is gaunt and tired. She is taller then most, with a strong if slender build toned from her mixture of mercenary and 'business' work.
Skillset:

  • Master of Small Arms, esp. pistols: From years of defending clintele and making sure other former clints don't wake up, Naa has a mastery over a vast variety of pistols and similar weaponry. She can hold her own in all but the most intense of fire fights with these, though she is less skilled with larger weaponry.
  • Projectile weapon engineer: Although most have abandoned them entirely, years of mercenary work have led Naa to appreciate much more primitive styles of weaponry. She knows how to construct, maintain and improve on projectile weaponry (such as modern day pistols or guns).
  • Techslayer: Not exactly a skill, but an earned reputation. Naa cannot get tech to work for her past a basic level, and given time she is sure to destroy any high tech she gets her hands on.
Occupation: It varies with where she ends up. She spent the majority of her time after abandoning her pilgrimage at Omega working as a mercenary under Aria's Gang, until her services were purchased by a Turian merchant. She worked as a bodyguard and assassin for a decade under his name, but with the end of her contract to him and the reappearance of the Geth as a credible threat, she has headed to Council space and attempted to join the military.
Personality: Although she prefers the school of Shock and Awe, Naa works just as well in stealthy positions. This describes her personality as much as it does her fighting style; she will try to make connections and friendships with others, but if she is given the cold shoulder, it doesn't take long for her to adapt and give that same response to others.
Homeship: Rayya.
Biography: Born on the Rayya, Naa spent most of her life preparing for an eventual career in the Quarian military. When it came time for her Pilgrimage, she lost the rest of her company and found herself on the edge of Council space with little options. She managed to subcontract with a mercenary group in the area, helping protect a farmer and his crops from some of the planet's hostile native life, before using her cut to catch a ride with them back to Omega. On Omega, she spent some time attempting to get the money needed to head on and continue with what she had planned for her Pilgrimage, but nothing was coming together. She joined with the mercenaries under Aria T'loak, and when they had nothing for her she headed to The Patriarch for jobs he needed done. She got by and moved up in Omega, surviving and getting herself a nice apartment. She kept working like this for years, abandoning her plans to continue on with her pilgrimage.
Eventually, a merchant on Omega's mercenary bodyguards were slaughtered by some other mercenaries on Omega. The merchant offered a price to any merchants willing to protect him as he returned to his supplies. Most refused, because the merchant made clear he could only pay them after the task was completed, and to every informed mercenary that meant they weren't getting paid. Naa was one of the few who signed on with him anyway, protecting him for a relatively safe journey back to the Citadel. There, she signed a contract with him to serve as one of his bodyguards as he attempted to reform his bodyguard corporation. She worked like this as a decade, over which her duties expanded from protection to taking out enemy businessmen and failing associates. When the decade past, her contract was up, and though she wanted to renew it—the attack on human space and on the Citadel had shaken her, and she decided not to. Instead, she headed to the Citadel and attempted to join with the Council's military.

Plans: Naa will portray some of the more brutal and 'human' aspects of the Quarians, as opposed to the highly foreign aspects Tali has portrayed. Though she has given up hope on Rannoch, her hatred for A.I.s and Geth still runs strong and she will be a vocal opponent to all cooperation or collaboration with them. In the short run, she'd provide a good shock troop and mercenary liason, developing more nuanced ideas of those around her than her sheltered or mercenary views of them. In the long run, she'll struggle against new knowledge and realizations that her ancestors may have been at fault, try to fix her view of the Geth before trying to distract herself from abstract hatreds and personal connections to throw her entire being into raging against the Reaper machine.

[up]Immediate things I will critique so that we can change it before I open up back recruitment:

  • Omega, Aria, Patriarch, and more do not necessarily exist in my Rewrite. ME 1 never mentions any of it so it doesn't need to necessarily exist. I'd assume a crime haven like Omega would be mentioned if it existed in ME 1. This reminds me, I need to ask the group about Omega's existence. As it stands though, it doesn't exist and I want to control what's brought into the RP (to make it ME 1 lore friendly). For now, I'd change anything that has to do with Omega in the signup sheet.
  • Being born on the Rayya is a bit contrived, don't you think? Unless you want your character to have interaction and a history with Tali, I'd change it.
  • Racism is high against Quarians. Not many are allowed on the Citadel or in Citadel space, why would they be able to join the Citadel military except being recruited by a high ranking official.
  • More if I feel like it.

I'm sorry if I'm being harsh, but I'm being cautious about what I want to bring in. Avoiding plotholes and overextending myself in ways that do not matter is a concern for me. You got time though to fix it. I'll add you to my "Interested players" list.

Hail to the King of Feraligatrs! Shameless advertising
