Finding lost artifacts and tomes would certainly be a good way to get a boost of power. Mostly, as well, through experience and feats... as she uses her powers more, overcomes challenges and acquires magical items, spells and techniques from observation and study, the more she works to improve herself and use her skills, the more she'll develop little by little... if she gets a following that may also help her specially if she gets to exercise her powers by bonding them to her.

As for their holdings... I was thinking either the patch of land underneath the territory of the Winter Marshall, past the mountains where there is the dead zones some hilly forests and grasslands... or otherwise over the brown mountains on the far center right of the map.

I realized this character was super-overpowered when I was almost finished. Oh well.

  • Name: Zerroth
  • Class: Warthirster
  • Species: Balor
  • Appearance: A classic demon, Zerroth stands eight feet tall, red-skinned and leathery-winged. His musculature bulges under black and gold plates of armor, and his feet are long, digitigrade claws. His face is bestial, with small, burning-yellow eyes that are difficult to hold contact with, and an elongated snout filled with sharp teeth. Two huge pairs of horns extend from his head in different directions; one set arcs back elegantly while the others almost go straight outward, just barely curving forward at their tips. A stiff mane of brown hair falls back from the top of his head and continues a ways down his spine. A long red tail trails from his black loincloth, ending in a wicked point.
  • Age: Only that he is over a thousand years old is certain, though it is likely he is well older than that. Even had Zerroth any interest in keeping track of his own age; in the Hells, time cannot be measured by years.
  • Powers/Abilities:
    • Inferno: Zerroth has control over fire, often wreathing himself or his weapon in it for battle. He can vomit it out like a dragon or cast it in bolts from his hand - it matters not; manipulation of fire is as easy as breathing for him. The flames he produces leave particularly nasty burns that are much more prone to infection than usual.
    • Demonic Anatomy: His wings are not only for show, and though his size and weight means he is far from an agile flyer, Zerroth can tirelessly pursue his victims over any obstacle and is fond of striking like a meteor from the sky. Any wounds he suffers from mundane weapons quickly heal, even those that would fell a mortal man.
    • Weapon Mastery: But it is his skill with his sword that he is most proud of - with it, Zerroth is a fiend on the battlefield, combining maddening strength with technique learned from countless millenia of near-constant warfare.
  • Equipment:
    • Hellblade: The large weapon is most closely described as a großemesser, in that it is a long, broad, somewhat curved blade with a single edge that is easier used in two hands than one. Its infernal design is obvious just at a glance - the weapon is made of a black, hellish metal and is adorned with cruel spikes and the golden sigils of some abyssal tongue down its length. Built to the specifications of an unknowable physiology, it is unwieldy even to the strongest human warrior. The sword almost never leaves Zerroth's hands. When he needs to use both for something, it seems to simply vanish into thin air.
    • Half-plate armor: Though he mostly relies on his regeneration to keep him alive, should they be struck directly, the infernal plates of Zerroth's armor can stop most blows from steel dead.
  • Legacy: The Winter Marshal was in need of soldiers for the sort of army that could threaten a world, and even diabolism was not below him. Zerroth was taken by surprise when he was transported from the murky battlefields of Stygia, the fifth "layer" of Hell, into a summoning circle on this plane, where he was forcibly bound to do the Marshal's bidding. Impressed with the man's power to be able to conjure him, and not caring what kind of war he was in so long as he tasted combat, Zerroth fell in line and fought in the last major conflict Essearnis has ever seen.

However, the land's champions proved too numerous and too powerful, and the balor was struck down by the winged archons of the gods themselves. Though he had killed several angels already, the white fire from their heavenly arms burned even he, and he was overwhelmed and subsequently bound into a gemstone that would imprison his soul.
  • Bio: Fortunately, or unfortunately, the stone was only able to hold his considerable might for a thousand years, and after a millennium of exerting the tiny fraction of power he still had, heating up his arcane prison little by little, he burst forth from the rock. Zerroth was a little disoriented, but the time had passed quickly for him, as if in a fever-dream, and he was otherwise not much the worse for wear.

Perhaps it was prophesied that he would return, or maybe the gods in their arrogance believed they could hold him there forever, but now he is here in Essearnis again. And with no way to return to the Nine Hells, he seems to be stuck here. After a thousand years of peace, Zerroth can only assume the land has grown soft and complacent - another sort of prison for one such as him. If he cannot find a suitable challenge among the mortal stock, he will burn through every city guard and town militia until one finds him.

Name: Vance Serket

Species: Human

Age: 21

Appearance: like this or this

Gender: Male

Legacy: Among tales of famous generals, few are as famous as Ragnar Serket. During the height of the Winter Marshall's power, he was the leader of one of his most fearsome armies, and later among his vassals. He was a skilled tactician and a very powerful speech giver. But his true abilities lay in the training his gave his men. His soldiers knew not fear, nor did they seem to hunger or tire. Because still older than Ragnar were his teachings: The power of the Seven Divine Lotus Blossoms. Some consider it to be an ancient form of magic. Others believe it to be an extension of powers any human can do. But by training his soldiers in that ancient art, he had a great army, an efficient police state, and was himself a peerless warrior. And then he was killed in his sleep.

But his ghost still lingered. As a specter, he watched as the city he had made great, Malkor, alternated between despots and incompetents. He may have had oppressive police, the use of slaves, no free speech, and suppression of political dissidents, but most of the people lived fairly content lives. As different factions split and vied for power, the government became ineffective. The rich got richer, and the middle class became impoverished. His family escaped his assassins, and he waited for his line to produce an offspring he deemed the most worthy. He had a lot of time: he was very good at judging people, and he had many offspring.

Vance was not actually his first choice. The first child he chose as his successor was his granddaughter, Veronica Serket. She was eaten by an alligator she fought in the sewers. Then there was Reginald, who starved to death in the desert. And then there was Artur, who, after Ragnar told him of his two predecessors, decided he wanted no truck with this Divine Locust Bosom business and would be a baker, thank you very much.

So it went for a thousand years. Then he found Vance.

Bio: Vance is actually not blood related to Ragnar. He's like, Ragnar's great-great-great-great-great-great-great nephew. His dad, Ricardo, was a male prostitute whom his mom left him with. His father was, like Vance, very pretty, but he didn't want Vance to have to live the life he did, so he started sending Vance off to weaponsmith's school. But then Ricardo got drunk one night and fell off a balcony of one of his customers, snapped his neck and died. So Vance didn't have any money left for weaponsmith's school and was kicked out, left to fend for himself at age 8.

It wasn't very pleasant, obviously. But years hauling iron ingots had made him tougher than most 14 year olds, and he soon found that there wasn't much room for morals on the streets of Malkor. He got by on robbing people, mostly. He was always good at not being caught doing so, and he had a shiv he had made from a metal flagon he had stolen from a tavern. He managed to last a whole year before being robbed himself. He had robbed a wealthier target, when an older teenager and his bunch of kids found him. The young man, named Valter, wanted a cut of any money he made. Of course, Vance said no, and of course, they all attacked him. By the end of it, Vance had killed them all, and had a broken nose, arm, and most of his fingers. He patched himself up as best he could, and then found a nice corner between some trash barrels to hide in and try not to die. Eventually, he fell asleep.

During his sleep, he had a strange dream. His ancestor, Ragnar, appeared before him. He told him that he had no reason to keep living and should just die. In his dream, Vance punched the the old man in the balls and told him to go away, he was sleeping. Ragnar, being a ghost, didn't feel anything, but had to respect that gall. In his dream, he told Vance that if he wanted to live, he should let Vance possess him. Vance said sure, whatever, just let me go back to sleep.

So Ragnar Serket possessed Vance. Though much weakened and only able to possess him for a matter of minutes, he was able to use the power of the Second Divine Lotus Blossom to begin the healing process. When Vance awoke, he found that, while still in pain, his wounds had healed to some extent. And he remembered some kind of weird dream where he punched an old guy in the nuts.

Next time he fell asleep, he didn't dream. Ragnar possessed him again, and finished healing him. But the next night, he had another dream. In this one, Ragnar told him that he could make Vance stronger. That if Vance had the will to survive and work hard, he could crush all that stood in his way, and watch the weak burn beneath his gaze. Vance accepted the offer.

With that, Vance began his training. He learned of the Seven Divine Lotus Blossoms. Each one was an end, not a means. They represented a point of inner strength, a way that a human may become as god. The first one was Muladhara, the root. It represented willpower, and was necessary for the development of all Chakras. It represented the ability to persevere, despite pain or fatigue or earthly desire. Vance already had some ability with that, and it only took him a few years to learn it. While doing so, he continued to live as a burglar. But he was stronger now. He had has own small band of thieves.

After learning Muladhara to Ragnar's satisfaction, he began on the second chakra: Svadhishthana. It represented physical perfection, refining one's body to the peak of what is considered normally possible and beyond. Malkor had a gladiatorial arena. With his newfound abilities, he entered the next qualifying tournament. It was a tournament of 24 men, and it was supposed to be nonlethal. And wouldn't you know it: First fight, and Vance accidentally kills his opponent. He was hauled off to prison. He's spent the last few days doing push-ups in his cell, trying to make himself strong enough to escape.

Powers:

Seven Divine Lotus Blossoms: Vance has begun training in a martial art known as (All together now!) The Seven Divine Lotus Blossoms. With it, users refine their bodies to perform incredible feats. Note that The Seven Divine Lotus Blossoms art is not the only way to achieve such powers: It's simply a formal training regimen designed to do so. The Seven Divine Lotus Blossoms each represent an ability that one can gain via training.

Description of Seven Divine Lotus Blossoms which is not really necessary to read but it's there if you want it
  • Muladhara: Muladhara is the first of the Seven Divine Lotus Blossoms. Though the ones after can be learned out of order (Except for Sahasrara), this one is the foundation for the rest of the training. Muladhara represents willpower: The ability to reject temptation in favor of achieving inner strength. Someone skilled in Muladhara could fast for a month, watching with all the cold dispassion of an observer. They could walk for days on end, without sleep, not even caring if they wore their feet to bloody stumps.

  • Svadhishthana: The Blossom of the Self, this one represents perfection of one's innate talents. Practitioners of this art train themselves to amazing physical form. Particularly talented practitioners can push their body past its natural limits, giving them skin like stone, the ability to heal from otherwise deadly wounds, or to bend bars of steel with their bare hands. Note that these skills are only extensions of what the body can normally do, achieved through truly extreme training. Some of these gifts can be bestowed upon others.

  • Manipura: The Blossom of the Transcendent Self, this level represents the alteration of one's body to do things no normal man could do. It's similar to the abilities of shapeshifters such as werewolves, though the results are usually less extreme. Those who use this arm can turn their fingers to blades, or breathe fire, or sprout the tail of a scorpion.

  • Anahata: The Blossom of Domain allows users to alter the physical world. Some believe that it's simply a form of magic. This power lets users transmute matter. Turning lead into gold is a common technique among more enterprising users. A practitioner of Anahata could also shape a stone into a sword, or shatter a crystal with a touch.

  • Vishudda: The Blossom of of the Transcendant Domain. This allows practitioners control of the forces of nature, manipulating the elements themselves in the form of raw energy. These powers are almost indistinguishable from magic in most cases: Users can throw balls of fire, cloak themselves in auras of lightning, or fire lances made of ice at their foes.

  • Ajna: The Third Eye allows users to perceive beyond that which one could normally perceive. Using Muladhara or Svadhishthana, one could improve their hearing or eyesight. But using Ajna, one can read the mind of another, or sense illness in another, or see the future.

  • Sahasrara: The Blossom of the World is the final Blossom. It's said that this Blossom is achieved when all the others are mastered, and that achieving it will mean one has become enlightened.

Muladhara: Vance has amazing willpower. He can ignore very serious wounds, fighting unhindered despite intense pain. And he's very good at ignoring fatigue. Not only does he have great stamina, being tired doesn't effect him as much as it would most people. Finally, he's very diligent, and can ignore almost any distraction.

Svadhishthana: Vance has been working almost nonstop for the past decade. He's strong enough that he can easily lift a person with one hand. And as for agility, he's been able to climb up buildings and jump from rooftop to rooftop. But his durability is where he really stands out. Under the instruction of Ragnar, he's trained himself specifically to make it harder for himself to bring down. After being broken many, many, many times, his bones have hardened to be like iron. And his skin is as tough as leather now. A sword can still cut him, and an arrow can still pierce him. But the sword probably won't get deep enough to bring him down in one hit, and an arrow will flatten itself against his ribcage before it pierces a lung. Normally, being wounded in the ways he has would weaken him. But he's also trained the natural healing ability all humans have. He can heal from wounds that normally one could not heal from, and a bit faster too.

The amount of time it takes to heal is dependent on the severity of the wound. He won't grow an arm back in seconds. But if he scraped his knee, you could watch the cuts mend themselves over a few seconds. If he had a deep gash running across his arm, it would maybe take a minute. If he got an arm lopped off, it would take a day for the stump to heal over. He could reattach the arm if he stitched the severed member to the bloody stump, but it would still take a day, and he'd have to be quick about it. If he got a claymore jammed through his head...It would kill him. He can heal fast, but he's still mortal. Regenerated wounds will still leave scars sometimes. Usually only if the wound is very deep.

Finally, it bears mentioning that, again, his bones are as hard as metal. That means that if he punches someone in the face, he's liable to cave their skull in. It also means that all he needs is a pair of leather gloves, and he can block swords with his hands.

  • Name: Acland Tomsich
  • Species: Orc
  • Appearance: Strong Friend? Acland is broad, but short for an Orc at only 5'4".
  • Age: 30
  • Gender: M
  • Legacy: The founder of Acland's city-state of Kromgol was Lord Mather, an Orc warlord of considerable renown. Mather gained most of his power from a gift from the Winter Marshall: A year's supply of fulfilling food. This allowed them to spend all of their efforts farming and building, without needing to settle down. Mather raised a massive army of orcish soldiers and industrial workers, mining his local area to swiss cheese before raising massive magical warmachines. Carving obelisks and totems into magical weapon emplacements, the Orc horde advanced steadily across the land, pounding everything the found into dust before moving onto the next one. Falling behind him, the orcs built citadels up out of what was left. This was Kromgol's mistake. Instead of committing himself to total war as an unstoppable clot of flesh and steel, Kromgol bled off his people one by one, founding a chain of orcish citadels throughout northwest. Once the army actually reached the Winter Marshall, however, the army was sort of sublimated into the general rank and file of his army, not big enough to establish a solid identity in his ranks. Kromgol's fate was unknown, but the Orc citadels felt the hurt. Retaliatory forces "taking their land back" ground the citadels back almost as quickly as they sprang up. Eventually, only the Tomsich Citadel was left: Acland's home.
  • Bio: Acland grew up as a scholar and an engineer. He loved the history of his people. In fact, he was overall just extremely invested in Mather's story; the cross-continental death tour meant that history classes had to concede that there was a much wider world than the walls of the citadel and the farmland surrounding it. Acland became an engineer out of a love of Mather's story, trying to emulate the genius's insistence on ambition tempered by reason. He achieved a reasonable amount of success within the citadel, conducting routine repairs on the ancient building, and stayed in the black more or less his whole life. He saw the signs that this would not last, though. The minimal trade the orcs ever received began to peter out. Scouts from the "nobler races" appeared on the borders. Then, he received a memo at his construction office, with no return address: Build it. Get your tools. Find my old designs and remake them to give your people a new place in the world—Kromgol. The boredom was getting to him anyway. Acland found a design for a weapon obelisk printed on the back of the memo, an ancient design that completed an ancient and eroded one in the museum. Working in his off time, Acland created the obelisk and left home, searching the forgotten places of the world for artifacts of Kromgol's.
  • Powers/Abilities:
    • Strong: Acland has a strong back. He can walk cross-country with 200 pounds strapped to him and not get hurt or overly tired.
    • Combat Engineering: Acland is a skilled mason and woodcarver, capable of infusing large pillars of stone or wood with patterns and sigils such that only a tiny amount of magic is needed for enormously powerful results. The installations are massively heavy, however, and take a bit of time and space to set up and fire off. This engineering expertise also extends to knowledge of simple machines and construction; the man can tear down a building just as easily as build it.
    • Mana: Acland has a moderate supply of magical energy, but has no inherent output for it—he knows no spells, and relies on Totems and Obelisks to use it.
  • Sweg and Items:
    • Kromgol's Cannon: An ancient siege engine constructed off of Kromgol's designs, the cairn is four feet tall and weighs 150 pounds. It is covered in intricate, geometric designs, and comes to a point with a hole in the top about the size of a baseball. The air around the hole ripples and wavers with energy. It can be swung like a powerful club like any other bludgeon, but when properly placed and braced the hole in the top becomes a powerful weapon. Small objects like arrowheads or flasks can be placed in the hole, then be fired at several hundred miles per hour, with the angle adjusted through magical input.
    • Schematics: A book of schematics, currently only holding Kromgol's Cannon, with room for others in the future.
    • Carving tools: A toolbelt of heavy chisels and picks used to carve Totems and Obelisks for use.

I wonder if Zerroth and the Alastorides, both being infernal types, would be acquainted. That said, it reads to me that Zerroth starts at full power? That's not what I'm envisioning for this. A large part of this is reclaiming what your heritage ever was, and growing to surpass it. Having him wake up immediately ready to wreak havoc on this world, runs counter to this.

I'm assuming the Shadow Toms were the sort to be scattered around major cities, not a central base or anything. Just need a better idea of what sorta legacy Annie could bear. Old old contracts and favors?

Also, I wonder, should the Alastorides take that spot south of the mountains and the winter hell, would they have stricken a deal with the Marshal to prevent naval incursions from the south?

On the Orcs, how do you envision orcish society to be nowadays? The 'noble' people half-occupying, half-living in it a la Cold War Berlin? What exactly do Totems and Obelisks do?

On another note - Elaine Tosbin is approved.

I'll be updating the map soon with what you guys have told me.

Would a character specifically need to be a descendant of a super bad dude, or could the super bad dude have cursed somebody else's family line with like, the curse of taking his burden (like just all of the evil he's done or maybe his seriously evil powers)? If not, do apprentices count?

Taco Since: Jan, 2001

Tomsich Citadel is a city-state entirely isolated from the rest of the world, more or less entirely orcs. The re-re-built cities now have orcs mixed in with the rest of the population, but they are reviled as second-class citizens and fallen invaders supposedly rightly vanquished and mercifully not slaughtered.

Totems and Obelisks I imagine being extremely slow, heavy magical weapons emplacements, which typically release magic in a single large burst before needing to be loaded with juice again. Totems are made of wood and release their energy in an area, Obelisks are made of stone and do so in a long line. Both charge over the course of about ten seconds of consistent magical attention and can hold that charge for a day.

Doesn't have to be a direct descendant, although I would question the wisdom of empowering someone as a 'curse.' Any direct apprentice would have to be incredibly long-lived as the original wizard/mage/whatever would be killed long ago. Maybe something where knowledge is lost little by little as the half-trained original apprentice tries to train a new one, but doing a shoddy job at it, and the process repeated.

Tomsich and Annie are approved.

Alastorides and the Winter Marshall: Most likely, I can see them as allies since they are far apart not to have friction between them by the separation of the mountains but close enough that they could share enemies and aid one another.

Alastorides and Zerroth: At the very least they'd know one another, given they come from roughly the same realm.

  • Name: Natali
  • Species: Lion Woman
  • Appearance: At Six Feet tall
  • Age: Nearing a century
  • Gender: Hermaphrodite
  • Legacy: In the jungle and desert regions, among the many gods and goddesses worshiped, none was more known that Khayla, the Goddess of Primal Instinct, Felines, and Hedonism. She watched over the lands, called upon and prayed to whenever it was time for battle, feast, or lovemaking. Every cat, big and small was her familiar, and a part of her soul, watching over the people and guiding them. She had great power, and could appear in many forms. She had to be appeased with conquest and annual festivals of debauchery. But at some point, the big cats, the lions, panthers and tigers of the lands became more vicious, encroaching on civilization, kidnapping and eating people. They tried to battle them many times, and beg Khayla to stop her cats, but Khayla never seemed to answer their prayers, getting angrier and angrier the more they sent their warriors to attack her cats. As revenge for their lack of strength and betraying her good will, she sicced many big cats on lands, killing all of the men and raping the women. This gave birth to a new species, Khayla's People, strong, proud cat people of different types, broken into castes of Lions, Tigers, and all other kinds of cats. Every few hundred years, Khayla reincarnates herself in a new body, to carry out her will.
  • Bio: Natali was the young princess of Khayla's People, beloved for her beauty and intelligence. She was raised to become a great ruler, pampered and spoiled, but she always wanted to learn and grow and fight with the males, against her families wishes. She would let herself get strong, and didn't care when others thought she was being unladylike, for she wanted to become strong, and be seen as a warrior, not as a lazy noble. After many wars with other races, her people were brought to near extinction and scattered. All of Natali's family has been long murdered. She knows there are other of her people somewhere out in the world, she feels it deep within her, but she has not seen any in a very long time. She blames all of her pain, and the deaths of her people on the encroaching of civilization from the other races, and the many wars that they have fought, her people often used as slaves and for battle and trade by the many other races. She has set out to learn all she can about the world and its magic and the powers at play, get her revenge on the other races, and bring her people back to becoming a great power. Unbeknownst to her, she is the reincarnation of Khayla, and despite her just and good and proud nature, Khayla's innate primal instinct and search for constant hedonism sometimes play at Natali's mind, and she must constantly fight to not give into her primal desires.
  • Powers/Abilities:
    • Lion's Power: Natali's race has incredible strength and resilience, as well as the reflexes and speed of a lion. She can run faster, jump higher. Her balance, and acrobatic ability is exquisite. She can climb up many surfaces. She can retract razor sharp claws and has a powerful force behind her deadly bite. She can roar with tremendous fury.
    • Hunter's Mind: Her primal instinct, combined with incredible tracking ability and senses allow Natali to sense and track almost anyone from many miles away. This includes what move a foe will make, where they are headed, as well as how to effectively cause a foe to play right into one’s hands in combat/pursuit.
    • Camouflage: Natali can blend in with the shadows, becoming almost impossible to see, especially at night.
    • Spiritual Awareness: Natali has a deep sensitivity to spirits and magical energy, able to detect nearby spirits with ease, and has a large amount of knowledge about how to combat many different kinds of magic and forms of sorcery.
  • Sweg and Items: Nothing but the clothes on her back, and a bag of jewels and old family items to use for trade.

In addition to Tanith, Fatina's also approved. When you say desert kingdom, I assume you mean the ones close to the wintry lands?

Also, here's an updated map.

I'm imagining the de facto Kingdom, in the SW, would be very very far from the heart of winter, as the horse runs. This way, you could say that they were the latest to answer or recognize the threat.

Taco's orc kingdoms are denoted by those towers. The gray bit there, that's a huge bridge/canal. I'm imagining that after the orcs were subjugated, the nobler fellows were able to undertake this project, using orcish material and labor to see it a reality.

To the east, about where Elaine would live, lies a loosely connected confederation of smaller kingdoms and lords. Proud people, beholden to no higher master, they spend more time squabbling amongst each other than anything else, but should an external threat come against them, they make a terrifying force when united.

Up north, plains and nomads. Slippery roaming people.

And then we have the desert. Filled with ruins and slumbering terrors, you can tell that a once-mighty Empire occupied these lands. Beyond that, it's a mystery highly discussed among the eminent scholars and mages of the time. Now all that remains are small, vestigial city-states constantly at war, each and every chief declaring himself Emperor by blood, by might, by... you get the gist.

There's still quite a bit of empty space, but what do you guys say?

As a dragon she incinerated her foes with fire and claw, as a queen she utilized ruthless politics and magic to expand her dominion with the final goal of conquering all of the known world. Alas eventually a group of heroes broke through into her citadel and defeated her, although just before the final stroke that'd have ended her she managed to escape, or at least that's how the story goes. Now her once grand empire that once covered most of the middle of the continent is shattered into large number of squabbling city-states. It is known what happened to her magic sword Pallera, Dragon's Fang, said to have forged in Miathas own flame, after her defeat though, the fighter of the party claimed it as his share of the loot.
     The Truth
Miatha never actually escaped after her defeat, rather the party wizard convinced the other adventurers not to kill the unconscious girl that lay before them, rather he would seal her power and alter her mind so that she would not remember her identity, and that he did. Over the course of generations the descendants of this wizard would periodically cleanse Miathas memory, giving her a new identity each time.
  • Bio: At first glance Trania is a simple girl, as the daughter of a wealthy merchant she has never had much to worry about except for the constant power struggles of the lords and kings. Although... She has had a number of worrying nightmares, about flying in the sky whilst the earth beneath her is a sea of fire, and a group of faceless warriors hunting her through the hallways of a castle.
  • Powers/Abilities:
    • She has a strong affinity for magic, even relatively complex spells coming to her with ease. Though she can only cast basic ones with reliability so far.
    • For a girl of her size Trania is extraordinarily strong, easily comparable to a strong warrior or sailor
    • Fire and heat can neither harm or bother Trania due to her nature unless it is the fire of a dragon or something of similar ferocity. Though she has always been a bit sensitive to the cold
    • As a dragon she can exhume flames of incredible ferocity from her mouth, fly and create strong winds with her massive wings, and she is protected from many weapons with her scales that are as strong as steel
  • Swag and Items:
    • A beautiful gilded and magical amulet that lets her father keep track of her location, for her own safety.
    • A knife generally for use in the household but can be used for self defense.
    • A beginner-level spellbook she received as a birthday present

Which of those powers are given to Trania and which are sealed? For example, you say she's a simple girl, but complex magic comes to her easily, which seems contradictory. Moreover, how would she regain her might? Reclaiming Pallera, I can see as being one. But are there any other catalysts?

[up][up] She is strong and has a natural talent for magic but she can't shapeshift into a giant dragon, spew fire and such.

And ways she could grow in power is the seal on her abilities loosening, letting her grow even more in strength and magic and eventually transform into her true form but also let her reclaim her old memories, essentially let her remember various spells, skills and the like

Well, it seems that Clawthewolf has managed to get me interested in another roleplay.

I'm working on a character and will post it soon.

Yeah, I'm going to go for dragon, which is a bit cliche for me but I had an idea I liked. Keeper was okay with my character having a connection to his.

  • Name: Velnae
  • Species: Dragon but he usually pretends to be human.
  • Appearance: Favoured human form True dragon form He also has a noticable mark on his body in any form, placed by his father Dalwrath
  • Age: 798
  • Gender: Male
  • Legacy: The son of Dalwrath, a storm dragon who reigned on the island south east, inhabited by humans, merfolk and kobolds. Knowledge of him was kept secret as Dalwrath didn’t want him known until he was sure Velnae was strong. Dalwrath controlled the weather of the island, so people were forced to obey him to avoid natural disaster. The most notorious thing known about him was his interest in the other gender and using his shapeshifting ability for…compatibility. Dalwrath seemed to only care for women about a few days, though he put a mark on the women that would eventually be passed down to their half-dragon children. Eventually adventurers manage to sneak into his castle off guard. When Dalwrath noticed their presence, it was too late to avoid conflict and he realised it was unlikely for him to win, so he used most of his power to teleport Velnae to a point of safety, hoping he’d carry out his legacy one day.
His existance isn't the only secret in this legacy...
Velnae is not only the son of Dalwrath but Mitha, with the two being lovers an unknown secret (Mitha might be the only person Dalwrath genuinely loved). Though they originally thought of each other as a threat, the two eventually gained an affection to each other and eventually came under a deal. If either one fell, the other dragon will take over the fallen’s army. However, bad luck meant they were both taken down at around the same time, hindering this arrangement. This does however causes an interesting way for Velnae to escape his mark’s attacks, as if Mitha is alive, she’s the true heir of Dalwrath’s empire.
  • Bio: Despite being outside the public eye, Velnae wasn’t a sheltered dragon. Dalwrath made sure that he was trained in both magic and might and gave him a strange mark. While sometimes a bit hard on him making sure he’d be a suitable heir one day and disloyal to women, Dalwrath did somewhat care for his son as could be seen with how much of his power he used to keep Velnae safe. When the threat disappeared, Velnae at first was focused on avenging his father and taking rule in his place, looking for his followers. However, Velnae heard stories of the less savoury bits of his father and started to change his mind. Unfortunately, Dalwrath had a backup plan in case someone wouldn’t continue his rule, the mark placed on his half-dragon children. It gave them a message of how they could become his heir if they slay Velnae, passing on his mark and even turning them into a full dragon. While not all of them would follow up of this offer, there were at least a dozen willing to do so. A similar warning was sent to Velnae, either go back to finding his followers for protection or deal with the dangers of the half-dragons. But Velnae’s mind had been set, eventually leaving the island to retreat to safer lands, doing odd jobs here and there. However, this won’t stop some stubborn half-dragons, who have followers of Dalwrath supporting their desired heir to help in the hunt.
  • Powers/Abilities: Velnae is a bit weak for a dragon but as he gains drive, his mark will leak him more power.
    • Physical ability: Strong as a dragon and strong as a humanoid. However, he is right now Strong, but Unskilled, only having basic practise with polearms and blades. He has an easier time fighting as a dragon.
    • Magical ability: Being decended from a storm dragon, Velnae is capable of manipulating lightning, wind and water. However, he only had the time to practice to an beginner level when human though it becomes noticeably more powerful in dragon form, though that's still only the level of intermediate wizards. He has the potential to manipulate heat as well being the son of a fire dragon, but he doesn’t even realise this yet, let alone his mother’s subspecies.
    • Shapeshifting: Velnae’s shifting abilities are mainly focused around humans, though at this stage is only able to transform into young human men. No matter what form however, he will always have the mark Dalwrath gave him. He is also able to generate clothes he is looking for at will, though this only extends to fabric so he can’t make leather, metal or jewels appear. He’s also able to store his gear but tends to use his bag when he can. Despite this, he usually sticks to one form because it feels the most comfortable to him. He’s also able to reduce the size of his dragon form, usually done for air maneuverability.
    • Dragon form: It is rare for Velnae to adopt his true form, as his half-siblings can sense his direction in that shape. This has slowed Velnae’s growth somewhat but he’s still of noticeable size (10m from head to tail). Not only are Velnae’s physical and magical ability heightened in his true form, his claws and teeth rival the power of steel and his scales are of similar strength.
  • Sweg and Items:
    • Halberd: It’s a common weapon and quite functional. Heck, it’s good for walking too!
    • Short sword: When a halberd is too long. Also if one wants a really long knife.
    • Shoes: Velnae can't create anything beyond fabric so he carries footwear to make up for it. Though, he's quite fine barefoot, only wearing them when he feels he needs to or when they help with disguises.
    • Travel supplies: Well, Velnae hits the road quite a bit.
    • A bag: Because making things appear out of nowhere can be suspicious

So, just tell me the bits that need fixing up or might be overpowered.
