SIGNUPS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED

Greetings, fellow sapient being! We at SBS are looking for contestants for a brand new show called Sverse. This show is a little experiment to see how well various races would behave when put in an unusual environment together. But that's not all. You will all be competing for a grand prize: a wish of whatever you desire. This competition will also test all of your abilities and how you stand up compared to many other races of other galaxies. This would be a great opportunity to show the world what you're made of and who you are, if nothing else. Not to mention you are the only one on your entire planet to be getting this opportunity. I mean wow! You must be something. I would strongly recommend signing up ASAP if you are interested in participating in SVerse, as spots are limited. Rules and information about signing up are included under this letter. If you have any questions, I suggest you try to ask them here!

- Veto

Hey everyone! If you didn't know already, this is actually a Sburb roleplay! But don't worry, not much information on Homestuck is needed to participate. This rp is about a bunch of alien races who play Sburb together. All of the players have received this letter and have decided to sign up. The players can come from almost anywhere in space or time. The aliens go into the game thinking it is a competition of sorts. The host will encourage this idea but what we do once inside is partially up to you guys. The session will also be modified slightly to encourage the competition idea. I would prefer about 4-8 characters but I could support about 12 at most. I'd also prefer a variety of titles. I might accept like two Knights or something as long as they're different enough but I don't want the session to be half Space Players or something. If you guys actually want to beat the game, we'll also need a Space player and a Time player.

Character Guidelines:

  • Name: We need something to call your character after all.
  • Race: Name of character's race with a brief description of the race and its traits.
  • Age: How old the character is. Include age relevant to human years and age relavant to his/her race.
  • Gender: Male/Female/Something else?
  • Appearance: Brief description of the character's appearance. Photos also work.
  • Weapon: Main weapon type of the character. If your character usually fights without a weapon, explain how they fight instead.
  • Dream Moon: Derse or Prosprit. This won't likely affect gameplay too much.
  • Title: Class of Stuff. Pick both a class and an aspect. Canon ones are listed below. If you want to use a fanon class and/or aspect, make sure it doesn't overlap too much with a canon one and explain it to me here. Keep in mind titles are as much about who a person is as it is what they do. There needs to be a Space player if you guys want to win the actual game, though. Time players are also very useful for this. Lords or Muses or other classes ridiculously powerful even by Sburb's standards will most likely be turned down, but this does not include Princes and Witches.
  • Background: What is your character's history? Where did they come from before signing up for this game?
  • Personality: Who is your character as a person? What kind of things do the like? What can they not stand?
  • Skills: What are they good at? Anything that might help them in the competition?
  • Anything Else: Anything else I might need to know about your character?

    open/close all folders

     Canon Classes
A brief guide to classes. You don't have to use the powers suggested, as long as it still could fit under the description of the first sentence for each class. If you aren't sure about how a power or an entire title might work, ask me either here or in the discussions forum.

Note: Keep in mind that some of the traits for the classes are common, but not mandatory for a character to have the class.

  • Witch - Active Change class
    • Witches change their aspect or with their aspect. Common traits with witches is going against what the norm around them usually is pertaining to their aspect. Witch powers tend to manifest in the ability to mainpulate their aspect and things pertaining with it to a degree.
  • Heir - Passive Change class
    • Heirs invite change in their aspect or with their aspect. Common traits with heirs tends to be guys who could probably serve as a good example of their aspect, and are often influenced by it. Heir powers tend to mainifest in being able to summon one's aspect and to turn into something pertaining it.
  • Mage - Active Know class
    • Mages have a great understanding of their aspect, and likely know things best through their aspect. Not much about the mage class is known, but there is a trend of them having a history of suffering in areas related to their aspect. Mage powers would likely have something to do with their knowledge of their aspect.
  • Seer - Passive Know Class
    • Seers invite understanding of their aspect or through their aspect. Seers tend to have some sort of struggle with their aspect, but they are usually pretty great at advising others. They can help lead a normal session based on the knowledge they gain on their aspect, even when they aren't the leader. Seer powers tend to manifest in visions relating to their aspect.
  • Prince - Active Destroy Class
    • Princes destroy their aspect or with their aspect. Princes tend to be against their aspect, usually due to bad experience with it. Their aspect is likely the part of them they hate the most. But if they embrace it, you better watch out, or you'll be dead. Prince powers tend to manifest pretty literally, or in the form of something that would cause destruction. Try to be careful with these classes, okay?
  • Bard - Passive Destroy Class
    • Bards invite destruction of their aspect or through their aspect. Bards tend to suppress their aspect in attempt to live a happier life. But if something happens that makes them snap, and are suddenly acting with fuller embrace in their aspect, watch out. Powers aren't known, but it seems to be a destructive manifestation of the aspect in the user.
  • Maid - Active Create Class
    • Maids create their aspect or create with their aspect. Patterns for maids aren't exactly known, though some theories suggest they start out relying on others, while over time they will learn to be the ones that provide. Maid powers tend to manifest as actively creating or fixing their aspect.
  • Sylph - Passive Create class
    • Sylphs invite their aspect or through their aspect. Sylphs like to help others, but sometimes it dives straight into meddling. Sylph powers seem to manifest as creating or fixing an aspect in others.
  • Thief - Active Steal Class
    • Thieves steal/move their aspect or through their aspect. Thieves usually have good intentions, but are often self-centered or have terrible morals. Thief powers tend to manifest literally; they usually steal their aspect or through their aspect for themselves.
  • Rogue - Passive Steal Class
    • Rogues invite stealing/moving of their aspect or through their aspect. Rogues are usually nice people, but they tend to not trust their skills with their aspect, and try to make up for it. Rogue powers often manifest in stealing their aspect or through their aspect and giving it to something other than themselves.
  • Knight - Active Exploit Class
    • Knights use/exploit their aspect or through their aspect. Knights are noble and usually good- natured. They seem to have a natural knack with their aspect. A lot of them are insecure, often pertaining to their aspect, and usually hide this insecurity. Knight powers usually manifest pretty literally. They can use their aspect, but they can't manipulate it in the way a Witch could.
  • Page - Passive Exploit Class
    • Pages invite use/exploit of their aspect and with their aspect. Pages tend to act like they're very good with they're aspect, but it's obvious to everyone else that they're not, at least at first. They keep trying with it though, despite whatever failure they might run into, and eventually they become the best in their aspect. Page powers tend to manifest in the player becoming a positive manifestation or instrument of the aspect.

Accepted Profiles:

Gol Finsceal Rei

Aradin

Theodora Chrysaphes

Thalla Andavia

Alex and Ingru note

Rifa Hysmin

Important: Try to be sensible with the title and abilities of your character. Don't use them as an excuse to Godmod or anything similar. If your character is a pretentious Prince of Doom, don't make that an excuse for them to nullify any chance of death that comes their way. If your character is a Witch of Mind, don't make that an excuse to control the actions of other players whenever you want, etc etc.

If you have any further questions about the roleplay, ask them in the discussions forum or PM me. If they are specifically about the character you have in mind, you can ask them here.

Dark Eye

  • Name: Gol Finsceal Rei
  • Race: Tylwyth Teg. They are amphibious humanoids, of a short stature (adults being around 3 or 4 feet). Their bodies are covered by small luminescent scales, with each individual having one colour and developing more shades of it among their scales as they mature (an adult normally having five), although a few rare individuals have more variety or even multiple colours. They have hair only on their head, growing out between scales, but it tends to be wild and sprawling, with their culture valuing long hair as a beautiful feature. As well as normal humanoid traits and the aforementioned, they have gills on their necks and a partially-retractable claw in each of their digits. Culturally they are often beings of contradiction; every country on their planet has a monarchy and a democratic leader but their culture glorifies celebrities more than either, they value peace and the environment but hunting is a popular past-time and they thrive on social interaction, living in sprawling metropolises but rarely interact with other sapient species. They have no biological sex and their understanding of gender is entirely related to other species. Maturity is also important to their race with a Tylwyth Teg's coming of age being the most significant event in their life, although different society's mark it differently (their first intentional kill, their fifth shade of glow, etc). Their names work by a structure of personal name, then family name, then either a title for members of high society or significant jobs or a nickname otherwise.
  • Age: 16 in human terms. Five by their own planet's years, although they have already completed most criteria for adult maturity, which normally happens at 6 or 7.
  • Gender: Agender
  • Appearance: Gol is a fairly typical adolescent Tylwyth Teg, although somewhat short for their age. They have purple-glowing scales and have already developed five shades, with their glow becoming darker purple from the bottom up. They also have light blonde hair which comes down to their shoulders and a patch of dead-looking flesh down their back due to a genetic illness. In terms of clothing, they normally wear anything that is practical and casual.
  • Dream Moon: Derse
  • Title: Rogue of Doom
  • Background: Gol is a member of the royal family of a small country on their home planet, 12th in line to the throne and firmly opposed to the monarchy. They grew up immensely spoiled, as even a fair way down the line of succession their family was incredibly rich, and grew to hate their family and the monarchy they were part of. Gol exercised what freedom they had by rebelling whenever possible, although their rebelling consisted of equal parts destroying palace furniture and volunteering with charities as what they were rebelling against was more the elitist mentality. The rest of the royal family eventually grew mutually disagreeable with them and allowed them the freedom they desired, which led to a very bizarre search for adventure.
  • Personality: Gol is fundamentally nice, caring for others and trying to make a difference despite their snobbish upbringing but is far from perfect. They enjoy confrontation and violence, often giving in to fits of anger when somehow wronged and also harbor a deep lack of self-confidence, unsure of their own abilities and always worried about becoming like their family.
  • Skills:
    • Combat: Gol is pretty good at fighting, able to use their claws or basic weapons to fight either with intent to kill or going for non-lethal strikes. However, their skill steadily decreases with anger. Further, they are quite physically fit.
    • Medicine: Although not widely intelligent, Gol is fairly well-studied (but not completely trained) in medicine, being able to perform moderately difficult procedures with suitable equipment and adapt slightly to alien anatomy.
  • Anything Else: The patch of dead-looking flesh on their back is a physical weakness, both more vulnerable to damage and prone to random pain.

  • Name: Aradin
  • Race: Ilarian - Ilarian society is heavily science-focussed with no care for the environment at all. They are the only living species on their home planet as any other lifeform has gone extinct due to pollution a long time ago. They have to wear an environment suit from birth just so they can breathe. This suit grows with the wearer and allows them to breathe as it contains a small oxygen generator hooked up directly to their bloodstream. As an unfortunate side effect an Ilurian's lungs are so atrophied, that even if they were surrounded by perfectly breathable air, they would suffocate without their suit. The suit itself is powered by converting bodily waste such as shed skin and others into energy. In Illurian society everything is produced synthetically. Food is grown in a lab and even their young are concieved artificially and then raised by the collective. Interestingly this also leads to every single member of the species having the exact same appearance. The only way to tell them apart is through a code on the chest of their suits. Sports are generally looked down upon as a meaningless waste of time by those not smart enough to do something useful. Art and especially literature however are popular and seen as a good method to keep one's mind young and agile.
  • Age: About 22 in human years, 50 in Ilurian years. Ilurians are considered mature when they have made their first major invention, which is expected to happen at about 30 human years, which is about 70 Illurian years.
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance: [1]
  • Weapon: A plain, metal staff
  • Dream Moon: Prosprit
  • Title: Knight of Space
  • Background: Just as every other Ilurian Aradin was raised by the collective and recieved a lengthy education in all fields of science. Now he's reaching the age at which it's expected for him to begin his own research, but he's worried he won't be able to think of anything he could try to invent and be thought of as a failure. Maybe Sburb and the materials within it could give him some inspiration?
  • Personality: Aradin is an ambitious being, who is quite afraid of failure, which he refuses to admit to himself. He tends to be uncaring and cold towards others until they have earned his respect, which isn't all that easy as his personal standards are so high that even he himself doesn't live up to them. When faced with an enemy, he prefers not to charge the opponent headfirst, but rather to fight indirectly through traps or ranged combat.
  • Skills:
    • Knowledge: Aradin knows quite a bit about quite a bit. But while he may be knowledgeable, he doesn't really have any experience in applying this knowledge. To use medicine as an example - he would be able to tell you the exact position and use of the medulla oblongata, but you don't want him operating on you.
  • Anything Else: Nope.

[up][up] So a little fish person? Nice. Definetly Accepted. They strike me as someone who's aggressive and a bit plucky, but lacks confidence, and tries to be a good person in spite of their heritage?

[up] Seems like everything's good with this one. Accepted. I can kinda see him mainly trying to mess around with the gizmos Sburb hands out to every player.

Name: Theodora Chrysaphes. (Greek: Θεοδώρα Χρυσάφης)

Race: Human. (Bit of a copout, I know. tongue)

Age: 17.

Gender: Female.

Appearance: [1], except a bit more obviously female, and dressed appropriately.

Weapon: Theodora, given her background, has basically no fighting experience. However, she runs as a hobby, which has made her rather tough. Most confrontations she gets in will be solved with either blind flailing or sprinting.

Dream Moon: Prospit.

Title: Mage of Mind.

Background: Theodora was born on the present-day island of Cyprus in the year 500 A.D., to a minor noblewoman and her husband. She was raised as was normal at the time; when she wasn't being taught at home by a group of tutors, she was doing household chores, preparing herself for marriage, and walking the streets of Nicosia or running when she had any free time (which she had precious little of). At the age of 14, her marriage to a nobleman of some means was arranged by her family, and she went to live with him. However, her new husband turned out to be not very pleasant; he was a boorish, annoying, lazy prick, and often annoyed her to the point of physical violence (though usually the extent was a slap or kick). After putting up with him for three years at this point, Theodora is at her wit's end, so when she's contacted about a game of some sort and hears that it'll get her away from her husband, she signs right up without listening to the rest. Probably a bad idea on her part.

Personality: Theodora is very polite and companionable, though she can be a bit stiff at times. She tends to take things literally. She's a bit sheltered, and as such enjoys seeing and learning new things.

Skills: As mentioned previously, Theodora is very good at running. In addition, her being the daughter of a noblewoman has made her good at social situations and getting along with people, in addition to her naturally affable disposition. She's watched soldiers train before, which (in theory, at least) makes her slightly less awful at sword-wielding than most girls of her age and status.

Anything Else: Very pious, like most Byzantines, with Eastern Orthodoxy as her religion of choice. Hates the number 13. Can speak a small amount of Turkish in addition to her native Greek.

[up] Sounds good. Accepted. I want to ask something though: She doesn't seem like much of a fighter, seemingly preferring to run away. How would she deal with the loads of enemies Sburb might throw at her? I assume she'd try to avoid a confronation, but could beat up some of them if needed?

Also keep in mind I can't exactly read Greek.

  • Name: Thalla Andavia
  • Race: Drasta - The Drastra race is a race of short slim humanoids with skins of typically earthen red tones with the shade depending on the region they're born, glowing white eyes, sharp vicious teeth, minimal body hair, prehensile tails that are thick on the base and taper down to a pointed end, digitgade legs, and typically pale colors of hair. In their planet there are many nations. Our hero hails from the Blessed Lands, a matriarchal theocracy. The organization of the towns and cities reflect the hierarchy of their society; the common town built around churches that range from watchtower sized shrines to large citadel sized cathedrals and monasteries, depending on the size of the settlement that is. Their society is divided between the men in the towns, who do most of the manual work, like building, shipping, farming or fishing, and some technical labor like metallurgy and carpentry. The women take care of all the overall religious, diplomatic and intellectual labor. The women by in large don't leave the church once their enter unless they are needed or their profession requires it. Similarly men are forbidden in the inner parts of the churches, but can freely enter the outer gardens or the halls of prayer. To offset this feeling of divide the children are actually raised and educated together. After this period the girls go inside the church, and from this point are considered mature. The boys are assigned to a trade, the measure of whether they become mature or not is often to the arbitrary judgment of their peers. Their names follows the following convention; profession (or trade) for the men, as is their rank and function inside the churches for women first, and their given name second
  • Age: 16
  • Gender: female
  • Appearance: Thalla is a youthful looking Drastan of 5'2" of height and a slim build. Her skin is a dark-ish coppery brown and her hair has a platinum blonde tint to it. Upon her being invited she'd been wearing a dark blue sleeveless shirt-like garment with its drooping collar and hem embroidered in white patterns, some hardy wrappings around her feet, a dark blue sleeve on her tail and a pair of dark blue knee-length shorts with a pair of long wide straps of white cloth decorated by dark blue embroidering that cover the front and back of her shorts, like a loincloth superimposed to it.
  • Weapon-type: Polearm.
  • Dream Moon: Derse
  • Title: Sylph of Time
  • Background: Andavia was born and raised in a big and busy port city, like most children she didn't meet her own mother or father, after being born she was delivered onto a nursing home with her brothers and sisters. She was raised along with them, and spent the day split between classes at the temple and playing with her friends, she spent time around the docks and the beach, watching the sea, wondering what was beyond it. Soon her childhood was over and upon her 13th birthday she became of age. She presented herself to the church of her city, upon her arrival she went through the initiation and baptism to join in. For the first year she donned the white robes of an initiate, an all-around helper within the church, allowing her to take in all of the internal workings of the clergy. However her sight was set from childhood and she desired to travel the world. While she would have preferred to be a merchant or appointed an explorer of the wild-lands, she was content being appointed the apprentice to a missioner about to go on a travel. A missioner's job was to travel the lands far from the main cities and beyond the blessed lands, spread the word of the great goddess, help the common man, protect those in danger... And thus she set out with her new clothes and title, to travel the lands as a noble missionary's apprentice. On her second year of travels she received the letter. She was excited at the prospect and with the blessing of her mentor she accepted.
  • Personality: Andavia is serenely intense; her enthusiasm, energy and thirst for life she has is girded in the etiquette and stoicism expected from her by society. Combined it makes her seem worldly, almost sagely, if a bit aloof. However, when she's not in public in trusted company she relaxes and gushes. Although she's a missionary she often is accidentally selfish, as she might care more for the place she'd be visiting than the people to be helped, though her mentor is working to phase that out.
  • Skills:
    • Combat: While not professionally trained, Andavia is willing and able to use her weapon, enough to fend off some wild animals or bandits at least.
    • First Aid: Mostly through first hand experience than any formal training she knows how to treat simple wounds.
    • Rituals: As a missionary she's to be equipped to deal with the spiritual problems as well as the mundane, as such she has an ample knowledge on rituals of the church. Most of them require dances and chanting so she's skilled at these too

Anything Else? If you want to know anything about her or her race, ask and I'll provide.

sorry for the wait - im bad at, like, deciding things haha

  • Name: Alex Garcia (Ingru 869)
  • Race: Human-Controller
  • Age: Alex is 14 going on 15, Ingru is the equivalent of a young adult for his species (since we don't actually know how yeerks age...)
  • Gender: Alex is genderfluid but physically male, Ingru is male but yeerks have no sexual organs.
  • Appearance: Alex, but with black hair and magenta eyes. Ingru, but a bit more yellow and with darker spots.
  • Weapon: Keykind, Bladekind. Alex's house keys, his favorite butcher knife, and her trusty sporting knife.
  • Dream Moon: Derse
  • Classpect: Witch of Blood
  • Background: Ingru 869 started life as a lowly bottom-class yeerk, but quickly rose through the ranks and managed to land a powerful position in Visser Three's army. He took Alex as a host, using his position to construct a private yeerk pool in her basement and further the yeerk invasion. As for Alex, suddenly trapped in her own mind, sharing her body with a weird alien slug, needless to say he was not happy. As he learned more and more about the alien invasion, Alex became horrified of what he was being used for. At first, Ingru naturally ignored her, but as the invasion continued, he saw how badly even his own kind was mistreated by his superiors, and Alex helped him realize that what they were doing was morally wrong. Eventually, the two of them managed to reach a compromise to do whatever they can to halt the invasion, joining the underground Yeerk Peace Movement, who hold similar ideals and feel that controller relationships should be symbiotic and based on mutual cooperation rather than outright mind control. When they received the invitation for the games, they saw it as the perfect opportunity to show that yeerks and their hosts work best when working together.
  • Personality:
    • Alex is fairly laid-back and sarcastic at times, though that's quick to change when a serious situation arises. Despite her bleak situation, he's still pretty upbeat most of the time. Though he was forced to mature pretty quickly, he doesn't let anything deter her as he strives for a better tomorrow.
    • Ingru can be rather self-centered despite himself. He is used to being in a position of power, and while he's trying to change that, it's hard to quit old habits. Rude, crude, and not very mature, he still has his heart in the right place and will do the right thing when the time arises.
  • Skills:
    • Combat: Alex has taken a couple self-defense classes before becoming a Controller, and as such is skilled in basic martial arts, particularly knife fighting. They're currently trying to learn how to use larger blades, but has yet to actually get ahold of one.
    • Cooking: Alex is a skilled cook, able to whip up a small meal in a pinch, and with the right ingredients of course.
    • Copy: Ingru has full access to the entirety of Alex's mind, and as such is skilled at all the same things he is, and is able to perfectly emulate her personality and mannerisms. This is also true of anyone he takes host, should he ever be in a situation where he needs to switch hosts.
    • Compromise: Despite their differences, Alex and Ingru have been together through thick and thin and know how to work together. Two minds are better than one, after all, and these two are great at multitasking and thinking on several planes of thought. While Ingru focuses on walking and talking, Alex observes their surroundings, paying attention to intricate details that Ingru might miss - similarly to a pilot and his navigator.
  • Anything Else: Speaks Spanish as well as English, sometimes devolving into Spanglish. Loves the number 13.

I'll be applying as a human Prince of Breath, he'll be a mildly lazy guy who feels personally lacking in freedom to reflect. Though, since our Knight is of Space, how would the Space deficiency manifest? All three Knights shown in canon came with a Session lacking their Aspect (time shenanigans, poor bonds and bad decisions), though I'm just asking out of interest. "Everything's Permitted, Nothing's Guaranteed" accurately fits, well, everything so I'm chill with anything.

The deficiency thing's kind of just another fan theory as far as I know. The kid's session lacking time is usually represented by the reckoning coming early, aka, they lacked time. Also karkat's session has relatively good bonds, at least compared to what is supposedly typical of his race. A lot of them were on friendly or neutral terms before the game began even, with some exceptions. (Eridan's the most obvious example, and Vriska could almost count.) Granted it's still implied most of them missed the point of the game, so who knows.

Plus, wasn't the kid's session lacking the proper time for their session because of some sort of bug anyways?

If I was going to include something like that though, I could almost think of the lack of space being perhaps the characters not having a lot space to work with either in their inventories or even their own homes or players being really bad at building them up or something, which considering about half of them are different races of aliens, could make sense without sburb's predestination bullshit. It could also be something along the lines of not much travel between planets, which could also help support the competition idea...

Also, in the sessions we've seen, the Knight helped the Space player with frog breeding. A knight of space would have to do it by themself it seems. yesIhavebeenlurkingthisthreadwhydoyouask

Funny thing is is that I don't think our Knight of Space would mind that too much.

Also I'm pretty sure that isn't a set in stone requirement either?

Like they could probably get someone else to help if they really wanted to?

I suppose a Space deficiency could also be covered by Creative Sterility (of the NPCs at least), or uncertain progression of events.

Yea, was also considering that. The latter seems much more likely though, especially with some of the shenanigans challenges the host will provide.

Yeah, my character definitely wouldn't mind breeding the Genesis Frog on his own. After all "The Universe" is quite an impressive first invention.
As for the space deficiency - maybe something's wrong with the Grist or the machines used for Alchemizing? Space is Creation after all. I personally like the idea of the deficiency being that they are really far apart (on their own planets) and don't know about one another at first most though. That way the session also wouldn't be able to profit from Server players' building abilities, which would fit in with the deficiency in creation.

The latter was kind of the point behind the whole different races idea anyways. Even with all these human characters coming in, there's still enough difference (?) for them to be strange with each other. I'd probably say something more along the lines of the Alchemizing stuff maybe not working so well if I was going with that though. Grist seems more like a Lighty fortuny thing.

Seems like I was kinda already planning things that falls under "lacking space"?
