Just posting to say this seems pretty neat. I don't really have anything to discuss right now, though.
“Not a promise, not an oath, or a malediction or a curse. Inevitable." - Taylor HebertI just wanted to say I was interested.
Also, I took a title quiz once and got Page of Rage.
... Just thought that was kind of funny.

off the shitsNice to see some peeps taking interest. I'll try to have signups up by the end of the weekend.
One such test I took gave me Knight of Blood. Yea.
I got Bard of Light, which seemed pretty neat from the description it gave.
“Not a promise, not an oath, or a malediction or a curse. Inevitable." - Taylor HebertI took three and got Seer of Doom / Rogue of Light / Page of Blood.

Passively destroying luck, information, or light or through luck, information or light. Yea, sounds fun.
Haha, the latter two were like some of my favorite classes when I was really into making troll ocs.
Don't really remeber any others I've gotten other than getting a Knight of Time the second time i tried the test i talked about above, but i've kinda decided that a Knight of Light fits me.

Hey guys do we want to do a stat based system?
I'd prefer no stats, but it's up to you.
off the shitsI'd prefer stats myself, but I'd be fine either way.
Stats require a lot of additional work for everyone, and statless works fine for most. If you got a full fledged system though I have no complaints. Though what'll be the deal with racial abilities?
"The Omniverse is the collection of all possibilities, and all possibilities must eventually come to pass."This is interesting. I don't really mind about stats.
On taking quizzes I got Sylph of Light and Bard of Heart. Rather different, weirdly.
It'll probably be a little like the rule about titles except a bit more strict?
Sburb kinda puts out worlds that are meant to challenge the player, so I could still attempt to pull out a world that would challenge player X who's part of a race known for their survivalist skills.
As far as abilites I'd say nothing that would make the game itself too easy. They can't have anything that would qualify as a superpower, except maybe for some low key psychic abilites, and considering they're going in as if this is a competition, probably not even that. I'd also say no races where Death Is Cheap because of an ability of the race itself and, at least for now, Energy Beings. We probably shouldn't make one race too strong in multiple areas either.
Thanks! Those do seem intesting. Different tests are bound to give different results, so don't worry about it.

Question: can I play a human from the Byzantine Empire?
“Not a promise, not an oath, or a malediction or a curse. Inevitable." - Taylor HebertSeeing as how I didn't establish that all races had to have something like a Space Age or space travel, probably. Might put your character at a bit of a disadvantage, though.
That gave me an idea, actually.

Calling everyone to the discussion thread!

Alright everyone, roleplay's going up later today. But before I do that, I'm going to say a few things.
- Obviously, be careful about godmodding. Sburb is a game of life and death, and things are likely going to go nuts at some point, but don't make it your goal to absolutely wreck everything or to target one specific player the entire time. Don't worry too much about dying either, death is kinda cheap in sburb. There is also going to be a way to revive yourself without being corpsesmooched, but it likely won't be easier.
- Please try to keep OOC talk over here, unless it's related to your post.
- Pesterchum is likely going to be optional if only to keep the roleplay running at a decent enough pace. The host is likely going to communicate to players through something akin to email or pm which could possibly (?) work better with the forum format. f you guys want to use an instant messenger you still can as long as you can provide a link to the conversation with something like pasted.co. IM would possibly be more helpful when first entering and getting to the first gate but beyond it pm should work just as well.
- Multiple players can enter the medium at once, though I wouldn't recommend entering while you are still trying to get a client up to the first gate. As long as it still links up into a suitable chain, it should be fine.
- While I like to stick to canon as much as I can, much of the Sburb things are going to be headcanon stuff, since canon doesn't give us that much to work with.
- The host will try to railroad players if he feels like they're not doing anything "interesting" or will throw challenges towards their way at random. This is not necessarily part of the Sburb game itself.
- Please try to prototype something before entering the game.
So even if you scrolled over all that, let me know that you're still up for this and I'll have the roleplay up later today hopefully.
